Chapter 17: Come in
"Mam, how were you able to get back so quick?" Ace asked.
"I have a quick brain." Rose joked boastingly.
"I wasn't even back at the party, but your father did call me. It is quite messed up now."
"What do you mean?" Rose asked.
" Well, then you must tell me how you got out first, because after I tell you what happened, you will not be interested in telling anyone anything." Ace said, trying to give a smile while looking in the rear view mirror.
"Okay, is it that bad?" Rose asked.
"Yes. Much more than that, but don't worry. I will try to limit his wrath."
"Listen, let's get it over with. I went in, and as soon as I got in, I realised the driver was recording. I acted suspicious and got it out of her. Then I marched out angrily. That's it. Now your turn."
"Okay, I received the call. He sounded calm and asked,'Where are you?' I said that I went home to get a new change of shirt because someone spilt some wine on it. He then said,' I will ignore the fact that you lied to me if you tell me honestly where Roseline is hiding. I will give you 10 minutes to make up your mind. By then, she might return. You two can discuss what to tell me then, and I will call you, and if the answer is not ready by then, decline the call and consider yourself fired and dead.' and 22 seconds are left before he calls again." Ace said.
" Give me the phone." Rose said.
" What will you do?" Ace asked but handed her the phone anyway.
"12 seconds left?" Rose asked.
"Yes." Ace said.
"Okay, he might call now. We have no time to think. Just go with whatever I say in 2 and, Hi dad." Rose said while attending the call.
"Come back. You have 5 minutes. A second less, and deal with me yourself."
"He cut the call. DRIVE." Rose said, completely panicked.
" Okay, 3 minutes to drive 2 minutes to run. Think fast." Ace said.
"Okay, here is the plan. You consider yourself fired, and I will consider myself dead." Rose said, her hands really shaking.
"Okay, how is this? so I'll drop you there and drive for my life." Ace asked.
"You know he will hunt you down. Let's visit the graveyard first. Book a location for me."
"Why are we so scared?" Ace asked as if it was a random question.
" Ace! Don't you know him. He can do anything. He doesn't care who is his realive. Don't you remember her? My older sister. Don't you know what he did to her?" Rose asked.
"We are almost there. Let's go." He said while parking the car. As soon as the engine stopped, they both opened their car doors and ran. As soon within the gates, the garden, even though giant and magnificent, was full of people drinking wines, chatting, yelling at servents, gossiping, standing alone in corners, yelling at phones and rushing in and out of the main gate. The kind of pushed and shoved around until they reached the back door of the mansion. It was a shortcut to his office. They ran straight through the kitchen to the corridor with lots of doors until they reached there. Ace knocked on the door while Rose catched her breath.
