Chapter 13: Chapter 13: mission accomplished.

Garos snarled and lunged at Kai again with his spear; his movement was slick and fluid, and his attacks became fiercer and more powerful. Kai fought back with everything he had, using all the saber techniques he knew: parry, slash, slice, thrust, and exert his body to its limit.

"Blood souls pierces," Garos suddenly used a spear technique; all the souls around the blood fog were absorbed into the spear, then he pierced Kai.

Kai couldn't dodge in time since his body had already reached its limit and was covered in multiple injuries. His eyes turned crazed, and he did not bother dodging the attack; he only avoided the spear, not piercing his vital organ.

"Argghhh" Kai screamed in pain as the spear pierced through his left shoulder, but he didn't back down; he thrust his saber immediately, aiming for Garo's heart.

But his effort was in vain, as Garos stopped his saber attack by using his hand to flick away the saber from Kai's hand before he kicked Kai in the chest, throwing him away to smash against a boulder.

Kai groaned in pain; he almost lost consciousness, but he bit his tongue to remain conscious, and there was no fear in his eyes.

Garos started walking toward Kai, step by step. He taunted Kai for being a frog in the well, insulted him for being stupid enough to think he could kill him, and cursed Kai for thinking his demonic way was wrong.

Hearing all these, anger started brewing in his heart; he started desiring more power; he wanted to be stronger; his wish to become powerful became stronger than ever.

Suddenly the red gate pattern on his forehead lit up, Kai's eye turned completely red, and all the demonic energy in the cave surged toward him and wrapped around him.

He stood up and looked at Garos, who was feeling superior earlier. Then he raised his hand gently, and his saber that had been flung away flew back to his hand.

Garos frowns a little upon seeing the sudden changes in Kai; he notices all the energy circulating him like they are worshipping him and giving themselves to Kai willingly. And he can feel how heavy and terrifying Kai's aura has become.

Kai was also surprised by the sudden change. He studied the energy behavior for a while and realized he could control it with his mind, but he couldn't absorb it into his body; he could only apply it to his outer body to become stronger, heal his injuries, and use these energies in each of his attacks.

To test his theory, Kai suddenly slashes his saber forward toward Garos, and he is surprised by the outcome. His slash was heavy, and a considerable amount of demonic energy accompanied this attack, which empowered them greatly.

Seeing the coming terrifying attack, Garos did not dare to be careless; he directed all the souls in the blood fog to surge forward. And surprisingly, there was no explosive sound upon collision; there was only the sound of something being sliced apart cleanly.

The blood fog was cleaved cleanly, and thousands of souls died immediately. Garos and Kai were both surprised by the outcome.

Garos frowned and yelled aloud, "How dare you kill the souls have spent hundreds of years gathering? You shall pay for these losses of mine with your life". Immediately, he controls the remaining blood fog to cover him completely.

Now the blood fog covers Garos in armor and reinforces his spear. Multiple faces are present around his body. He is going all out now.

Kai sneers before taking a step forward. With this newfound ability, he regains his confidence, and his battle spirit is now higher.

Kai and Garos rushed toward each other; their attacks collided, and a massive explosion that shook the whole cave rang out. The stone flew everywhere, and cracks appeared around the cave.

Kai and Garos exerted their full power; they exchanged attack after attack, each one more vicious and violent than the last.

After exchanging hundreds of powerful attacks, Garos' aura started dropping because Kai was killing more souls with each of his attacks, and now he was only left with a few souls available for him. But as for Kai, he has the whole demonic energy in the devil's prison at his disposal to use.

Moreover, with each passing moment, Kai was getting better at using energy, which made his attacks more concentrated and deadly. All this made Garos helpless against Kai's attacks, so he had no choice but to sacrifice more souls.

As the battle raged on, Kai suddenly roared and willed tremendous energy to surge into his saber. The saber vibrated vigorously, and then he unleashed it in a single devastating slash.

Garos was caught off guard, and the attack sliced through his demonic blood fog defenses, cutting deep into his body. He let out a sickening scream as he fell to the ground, his twisted body writhing in agony.

Kai walked toward the powerless Garos; upon getting closer, he looked at Garos with his blood-red eyes before plunging his saber into his heart, killing him immediately. There was no emotion on Kai's face, only a devilish smile.

Suddenly a voice reverberated in Kai's mind: "One thought to become a devil, one thought to become a god, one thought to become a mortal, and one thought to become a universe." Once sentences were spoken, Kai felt a big explosion ring out in his head, and he started bleeding from his ears, nose, mouth, and eyes before he blanked out.

…..

It has been over a day since Kai entered the cave, while the rest of the disciples are already done with their trials. Out of fifteen of them, only seven managed to come out alive, while the rest are dead.

But as for Kai's situation, elder Liu found it strange because, hours ago, he heard loud explosions coming from the cave, then sometimes later, everything died down. He would have thought maybe Kai was dead, but he could still feel Kai's life aura, stronger than ever, and not seeing Kai come outside made him curious.

However, before he could decide to enter the cave, Xieling arrived. She frowned immediately as she couldn't find Kai among the present disciples, then she looked at Elder Liu, asking him to explain the situation to him, which he did immediately.

After listening to Elder Liu's explanation, Xieling did not waste any more time before rushing inside the cave.

When she arrived inside the cave, she was surprised to see the destruction caused by the battle. Then she found Garo's body, with a huge black saber still in his heart. Then she found Kai lying unconsciously a few meters away from Garo's body.

With a step, she arrived close to Kai's body. She immediately sent her energy into Kai's body, but surprisingly, no injuries were present. After accessing him for a few more minutes, she realized that Kai was only unconscious because of shock.

Then, she called Elder Liu to check on the situation; once he arrived, she explained the situation to him before bringing Kai away.

One month had passed since the battle with Garos in the prison. It was then that Kai first regained consciousness. As his eyes flickered open, he slowly sat up, trying to piece together the events that had led him to fall unconscious. He realized with a start that he was back in the same room he had first woken up in when he had first arrived at the sect.

He groaned, rubbed his temple, and realized he felt weak and unsteady after his battle with Garos. He sat up, gathering his thoughts. He remembered the last sentence he heard before his consciousness went blank. He recalled every single sentence before he started wondering about what it meant.

After thinking for ten minutes, he couldn't understand the purpose of the message or what it meant. However, he noticed that his body was more sturdy and his senses were more accurate.

He can see the tiniest particles on the ground and hear sounds coming from miles away. He decided to try something. He closed his eyes and focused his mind, trying to visualize what was happening around the house.

After staying motionless and focused for five minutes, suddenly, everything within and around the house appeared in Kai's mind, and he became excited. He had heard from his master that only cultivators in the immortal realm could unlock their spiritual minds.

But surprisingly, he managed to activate his spiritual sense somehow. But Kai guesses that this might be related to the voice he heard, and that voice might be caused by the wooden gate that entered his forehead. But before he could think further, his stomach suddenly rumbled. He was more hungry than anything else at the moment.
