Chapter 10: How Did You Survive It?
In the morning, inside the room where Livia had secretly kept Joseline after Noah ordered her to leave her by the roadside, a woman walked into the room.
"Hey, wake up! It's morning already. Do you think here is your father's house to enjoy your sleep?" The woman pushed Joseline who was lying on a taffeta bed cover.
Joseline's opened her eyes slightly and she felt her voice stiffen when she tried to ask, "W—where am I?" She peered around to get acquainted with the morning light that struck her sight.
She felt a throbbing pain all over her body. Each attempt she made to remember where she was made her heart beat palpitate rapidly.
"Finally you are awake, humph!" The lady that shook her out of her painful sleep cackled and glared at her.
"You enjoyed it with him. I don't know why I have to be the one to suffer myself to clean you up. Huff!" The lady grumbled taking the towel, she dropped it on the bed where Joseline was.
"Who are you and where am I?" Joseline asked. She felt an excruciating pain in her neck as she tried to move.
Joseline saw that her question only angered the lady, "You don't know why you're here huh? Did you lose your memory or are you just pretending you don't know what happened?"
When this woman asked this, that was when it dawned on her that her world had crumbled. There was no way Raymond would accept her in this state. All that happened last night came back banging on her head.
Raymond her fiance had made it clear that one of the reasons he accepted her to be his wife was because she was a virgin.
He has also promised to find the absolute cure to her sickness.
Now she was sure that everything had fallen apart.
Joseline turned to look at the woman who was speaking to her all along, "Who...are you? P—Please help me get out of here."
Joseline could see the lady vent her anger on the dress she was getting out of the wardrobe and she heard the lady grumble. Though it was a faint grumble, she was able to catch a little of it when the lady said, "I've worked for him for so many years now, but he doesn't allow me to come close to him. Now he is even giving a strange lady a new dress to wear, just because she was able to please him. Huff!"
"Miss, p—please help me get out of here." Joseline could catch the jealousy in the lady's eyes when she turned and glared at her. She turned away again. She ignored Joseline and continued to dangle through the dresses in the wardrobe.
She was admiring the dresses, "How I wish I could wear this one too." The lady smiled and began to test the floral design gown on her body.
Looking and hissing as she stared at her reflection in the mirror, the lady giggled. "If only you had seen me in this dress, you would have looked in my direction. You would have known I would satisfy you too. But your eyes are always on that Becky. Huff!
I even thought she had the sexiest body but when I saw her bum skin, I couldn't believe it was as pale as...hahaha." The lady stopped herself from altering the word. She raised the gown and sniffled in the scent. "Oh, this smells exactly like my Noah. Hahaha!"
Suddenly, her eyes bulged out as she suddenly remembered something. She brought out her phone from her apron pocket.
Joseline was still confused at the lady's action. Was she insane to act this way? She knew she dared not ask that now.
The lady let a smile appear on her lips and she held her breath. "Does my Noah know that I have seen his...ah, hahaha." She ogled at the phone in her hands and said, "If he knew, he wouldn't be hiding from me anymore. Hahaha."
"Noah, I know that one day I will be your Luna. Even if I have to seduce you to get to that point I will make sure of it."
Hearing the word 'Luna', Joseline's heart almost jolted out of her chest.
'Let it not be that I was raped by a...'
'No that's not true! That's not true!' She screamed internally, trying to get the thought off her mind, but she was wasting her time. There was no way Raymond would accept her now.
"Absolutely no one would ever take my place as a Luna away from me, right honey? Noah, talk to me. I will be your Luna right?" She stretched out her phone and stared at it, speaking loudly to it as if the photo on the phone was listening to her. She turned to twirl her body. Joseline understood immediately that the woman was mentally ill. She cut the glimpse of what she was staring at and talking to. It was a man, and she could figure out the man was naked and a woman in his arms.
The lady's face in his arm appeared clearer in her eyes but when she tried to see the face of the man carrying the woman, a sudden cough began to hurt her throat.
'My medicine, where is my medicine?' Joseline tried to scramble out of the bed, only then did the lady turn to look at her.
"Hey! Where are you going to?!"
"My medicine, I need it. If I don't get it now, I will die." Joseline pleaded.
"How will I know where it is? What are you suffering from? You woman! I hope you've not infected my man!" The lady glared at Joseline.
Joseline winced as she tried to sit up. A sharp pain seized between her legs and she ended up storming back to the taffeta bed cover. She wondered how a human being with a good heart would place that rough material as a bed cover.
"Please my medicine. Help me please." Her vision blurred again. A flicker of light appeared in her eyes and vanished immediately.
She made to scramble out of bed again. She headed towards the lady, hoping she would give her a helping hand, but the lady scuttled backwards.
"No, don't come close to me. You will infect me with your disease." The lady went towards the door.
"P—please come back and help me."
The woman suddenly halted and turned to face Joseline again. "Huh, help you? I should help? I forgot about that. I'm sorry." The lady approached Joseline, stretching her hands towards her. Just when Joseline was about to grab the lady's fingertips, the woman retracted her hands and began to laugh, "Hahaha! Do you think I will help you? After what you did to me, you're asking me to help you? You took my Noah away from me!"
"What are you talking about? Is Noah the man who raped me?"
"How dare you accuse Noah of being a rapist?! You're the one who seduced him. Noah is not a rapist, stick that to your fucken head!"
Joseline scuttled backwards as the lady tried to attack her. The lady stopped midair and suddenly began to weep.
"I know he loved me but he was too afraid to accept it because I'm a nobody in his father's pack. I'm left deserted and locked up. You took him away from me you wretched woman!" The woman rushed towards Joseline. She pushed Joseline towards the bed and raised her hand to strike her but her hand froze mid-air when a sudden silver-coloured light came out of Joseline's eyes.
Stunned, the woman remembered that in the history book of the wolves, there was only one person who had this type of light due to the power in her body and it was the woman from the past; the one whose wolf emitted such powers and that wolf was called 'Lux'.
"You...you are that woman. You're Lux? No this can't be, you can't be Lux?" The lady grabbed Joseline's neck and began to strangle her.
"Who is Lux and what are you talking about? Let me go!" Joseline could see her soul leaving her body as she cried.
"Y—you survived it? How could you have hidden yourself all these years?!" The woman continued to panic.
When Joseline couldn't take the pain in her neck anymore, she didn't know how she got the power to grab the lady's hand and she began to squeeze it.
"Somebody help me! She will kill me! She will kill me!" The lady managed to get out of Joseline's horrible grip.
"Please help me!" The woman screamed as she tried to run away from Joseline. About to run out of the room, the door burst open and knocked her down. Looking up she saw Becky.
At that point, Joseline fainted by the bedside.
