Chapter 12: The Attack.

After Noah was done venting his anger on Elvis, he had an overwhelming desire to be alone. His two wolves sprinted into the forest towards an alley. There was a cave in this alley which was his favourite place to rest his irking heart.

This place was only known by him and his father. He was aware that his betas were following him but he used his special ability to hide his scent so that they couldn't trace him. He also blocked his mind link making it hard for his betas to communicate with him.

Now in the cave, he brought his two wolves together and shifted back to human then walked into his favourite spot in the cave; inside the cold spring.

His nerves were so taut that he had difficulty in breathing. After some hours of resting his mind in the spring, he dozed off only to wake up in the morning.

Awake, he sighed, got up and yawned. Stretching his hands above his head, his body felt refreshed and relaxed. He had totally forgotten the event of the previous night while sleeping in his sitting position and cooling his mind off in the spring. But just when he stepped out of the spring and saw his naked body, the memory of what happened resurfaced in his mind.

He allowed the memory to play back step by step.

First, he was enraged by his father's sickness which Becky did well to calm him down, later his betas called him on an important issue. He was happy at first that his betas were able to kidnap Pedro's daughter.

He had planned on poisoning his enemy's daughter just as Pedro had poisoned his father, but when he got to the room where she was kept, a certain feeling with a strong connection and desire for something strong took control of his mind.

He ended up doing an outrageous thing to the woman last night.

He had gone weird last night reaching to the point of attacking Elvis his closest beta. His white wolf had told him that his enemy's daughter he raped was a woman from his past life. It now reoccurred to him that Lux only said that the woman was his mate in his previous life.

Then again he had jumped into trying to kill that woman just when he heard Lux tell him that the reason for the strange closeness and feeling he had for that woman was because she was his former mate and Lux attacked him for hurting the woman.

'She was his mate in his previous life, someone who he must remember.' The words repeated in his head as if Lux had inscribed them in his head. But as much as he tried to understand what Lux meant, his mind went jittery. It could only add more fire to the burning sensation running through his body again.

What did lux mean by having a past life? Does that exist?

Though he didn't understand what that meant by having a mate in his previous life, he jumped to the conclusion that she was someone he should get rid of, someone he should hate. "If she was my mate in my past life, I won't let her be now in my present life" Noah muttered to himself.

He stared at his body again and recalled that he had felt a certain heat on his body mating with this woman which was affecting the wolves in him that he couldn't calm down and he ended up blaming and attacking Elvis.

Recalling all these he thought that he would get rid of all of the guilt but now that his body was calmed, he still felt guilty. It was as if his guilt was stuck with him.

The worst of it was that he wanted to feel the presence of his enemy's daughter again. Very stupid of him, he thought.

He needed to find his betas.

He allowed the mind link to take control just when he stepped out of the cave and the morning air hit his bare skin. Wondering how he would return to the pack unclothed, he felt a thug on his chest and that was a sign that someone contacted him through the mind link. It was Jaxon calling unto him.

"Yes, what is it Jaxon,"

"Boss, there is a problem. The PRS agents are in the house."

"What? How did that happen? Where are you?"

"We're at the old underground pack house. You need to get here as soon as possible."

No matter how angry he could get at his betas, he can't leave them in danger. Since he was unclothed, he decided to shift back into his wolves even though it was dangerous now it was morning and the hunter might find him easily, but he needed to be back in the pack immediately. He tried to shift into his wolf's form, but he couldn't.

He tried again to shift but staggered backwards, his hand began to tremble. "What's happening to me?" He asked himself in terror. Again, he gathered his strength. Growling painfully, he managed to shift into his wolves again, but his white wolf was weak making it hard for him to hasten his speed.

In the old underground pack house. Noah's betas who had given up searching for Noah last night had returned when Jaxon contacted them about the issue at hand.

Elvis had now recovered and his body was completely healed. But he still had a confused look on his face, he still didn't know why Noah attacked him last night because they kidnapped the woman.

Noah walked into the pack house where his six betas stood. All heads lowered and their fears were visible in their eyes.

"What happened?" Noah asked immediately.

Jaxon managed to speak even though the question was directed to Elvis who flinched on seeing Noah. "We found out that they traced the woman we kidnapped last night through her phone which we didn't notice was in her dress pocket. It's a good thing that we were able to escape."

"And my father?"

"It's also a good thing that the doctor saw them beforehand. He was able to secure the Alpha in the underground room. But it's hard to return to the pack house now since they placed security cameras in there. More security men had been sent to monitor the house." Jaxon spoke again.

"And the woman what happened to her?"

Livia who was standing in the midst of them had her hands on her chest. Despite her being the woman who took care of Noah after his mother left them, there were still some parts of Noah she was afraid of, and that was his anger. Livia looked up and her eyes met Noah's, she lowered her eyes immediately and fidgeted with her hands.

"Livia had not gotten rid of her before they arrived so they found her naked in the room," Elvis said immediately. If someone would be blamed again this time, he didn't want to be the one. Noah's attack last night was enough to make him make sure he won't be a fall guy again.

"If you had gotten rid of her and cleaned up the room, you would have noticed the phone. They wouldn't have been able to trace her."

"I'm sorry, I never knew that she was Pedro's daughter."

"You should have obeyed my orders first!"

"I'm sorry." Livia shuddered as Noah's voice vibrated through her body.

"There is another problem, Boss," Jaxon said again.

"What is it?"

"Sadie went off her cage and was causing havoc in the house and Becky saw the woman we captured last night."

"Damnit! How did you let Becky see that woman and how did Sadie get out of her cage?!"

"I don't know all these, boss. We just came back and saw Sadie's chains broken and we saw her in the room where Livia had locked Pedro's daughter in there." Elvis defended again.

"Where is the guard who is supposed to make sure Sadie doesn't get out, why did he let her out?"

"We wanted to find out about that too but the PRS shot him. The poisoned bullet killed him on the spot."

"What the fuck is all of this?" Noah rammed his fist into the table near him. "And Becky, what does she think?"

"Since you were angry that we brought the lady, we didn't let her know that she's Pedro's daughter and she now believes that it was Sadie's guard who raped Pedro's daughter."

"How could she believe that? Do you think Becky will resolve to believe that?"

"I'm sure she thinks so," Jaxon assured.

"And Becky, where is Becky?"

The room fell into silence, no one dared to speak.

"Answer me, where is Becky?"

All eyes fell on Elvis to answer the question since he was the head of the betas and seeing Noah's glare on him too, he answered, "Boss, Becky was also shot in the process but we were able to secure her in..."

"You bastards! How could you allow them to shoot her?!"

Jaxon standing closer to Noah, received the punch from him this time. Elvis thinking that the attack was aimed at him, scuttled backwards only to see Jaxon rolling on the floor.

Just when Elvis breathed out, Noah's attack landed on him too.

"Where did you keep her? Where is Becky?" Noah yelled.

"T—the doctor is taking care of her w—wounds in the underground room." Elvis stuttered, fighting to lose Noah's tight grip on his collar.
