Chapter 2: Protect Rose

Adrenaline coursed through Rob's veins as he relentlessly pursued the speeding car. With his focus sharpened by determination, he skillfully maneuvered through traffic, dodging obstacles without causing harm to innocent bystanders. Every inch of progress brought him closer to his objective—rescuing Rose from the clutches of her captors.

Finally, the car screeched to a halt, and Rob wasted no time in approaching the vehicle, demanding the immediate release of the girl. His voice resonated with an unwavering resolve, yet his words were met with a sudden, brutal blow to his face. The impact sent him reeling backward, blood staining his lips. Undeterred, Rob wiped away the evidence of the confrontation, his resolve only strengthening.

Engulfed in a surge of anger and determination, Rob fought back fiercely. With calculated precision, he targeted one of the captors, breaking the man's leg, rendering him incapacitated. The sight of his injured accomplice caused the remaining captor to panic, fleeing from the scene, leaving Rob to tend to the unconscious Rose.

With a mix of relief and concern, Rob gently carried Rose out of the car, cradling her fragile form in his arms. Her stillness tugged at his heart, and he realized the urgency of getting her to safety. Asking her about her home seemed futile in her current state of unconsciousness, so he made a quick decision to find a nearby hotel to provide her with a temporary sanctuary.

Minutes later, Rob entered a modest hotel, carrying Rose with utmost care. The receptionist's gaze bore into him, suspicion flickering in their eyes as they observed the unconscious girl in his arms. To preempt any misunderstandings, Rob created a story, explaining that she was his wife and had fallen ill due to exhaustion, prompting her to seek rest. The receptionist's skepticism reluctantly dissipated, and they assigned a room to the couple.

Crossing the threshold of the hotel room, Rob gently laid Rose on the bed. Her vulnerability struck a chord within him as he gazed at her delicate features. It seemed inconceivable that someone would harbor ill intentions toward such a radiant soul. Pushing aside those thoughts, Rob focused on ensuring her comfort and safety.

As he tucked Rose beneath the covers, a sense of protectiveness enveloped him. She appeared serene in her slumber, her innocent beauty accentuated by the soft glow of the room. Recognizing the urgency of his mission, Rob stifled the emotions that threatened to consume him, reminding himself of the tasks that lay ahead.

POV ROSE

Next day As I slowly opened my eyes, the harsh rays of sunlight pierced through the curtains, intensifying the throbbing ache in my head. Blinking away the haze, I surveyed my surroundings, realizing with a jolt that I was in an unfamiliar place. Panic surged within me, my heart pounding against my chest. Questions flooded my mind, desperate to piece together the fragments of the previous night.

Struggling to collect my thoughts, I focused on the room. It was simple yet comfortable, with soft colors adorning the walls and the sound of distant traffic filtering in through the partially open windows. But it was the absence of familiar sights that rattled me to the core.

My memory failed me, leaving a gaping void in my recollection of events. How did I end up here? What happened after I stumbled out of the party? The answers eluded me, evading the grasp of my anxious mind.

Shaking off the disorientation, I willed myself to get up, battling the heaviness in my head. Disoriented and slightly unsteady, I stumbled towards the washroom, hoping the cool water would bring some clarity to my foggy mind.

As the water cascaded over my face, I caught a glimpse of my reflection in the mirror. My disheveled appearance and the shadows under my eyes told a story of exhaustion and confusion. I longed for answers, a glimpse of the truth that lay hidden within the recesses of my memory.

After splashing water on my face, I returned to the room, hoping to find some clues, some shred of evidence that would guide me. And there, on the coffee table, lay a letter that sent a shiver down my spine. I reached for it, my hands trembling, and unfolded the message within.

"Hope you are fine now. I booked this room for you as your husband. Stay here till you are fine. Regards, your so-called husband."

The words blurred before my eyes, and my heart sank as confusion and disbelief washed over me. The letter was signed by someone claiming to be my husband, but I had no recollection of such a relationship. Doubt gnawed at the edges of my consciousness. Who was this person? What did they want from me?

Shaking my head with a heavy sigh, I decided to leave the place as soon as possible. The weight of exhaustion settled upon my shoulders. I realized that I needed a break, a moment to collect my thoughts and reassess my situation. As if guided by an invisible force, I found myself standing before a small cafe tucked away in a quiet corner.

I entered, seeking solace within its warm embrace. The fragrant aroma of freshly brewed coffee enveloped me, offering a momentary reprieve from the turmoil that consumed my mind. I found a secluded corner, sinking into the plush cushions, and allowed myself a moment of respite.

As I sipped the comforting warmth of the coffee, I gazed out of the window, lost in contemplation. I needed to reclaim my identity, to uncover the truth that had been concealed from me. Determination coursed through my veins, urging me to forge ahead, no matter the obstacles that lay in my path.
