Chapter 239: Chapter 239

The soothing words from the small Katsuyu echoed in Naruto's ears, momentarily easing the weight on his shoulders.

A relieved sigh escaped Naruto's lips. The fear that transforming into the Nine Tails might unleash havoc, resulting in the destruction of the village he had fought so hard to protect, lingered in his mind.

The prospect of becoming a pawn in Pain's grand scheme haunted him. However, with Carnes in command, the immediate danger seemed to subside.

Yet, an underlying unease persisted in Naruto's thoughts. He focused, attempting to discern any remnants of Hinata's presence amidst the aftermath.

After a tense moment, he clenched his fists, determination coursing through him. "I can still feel Hinata's chakra," he declared, relief and anticipation mingling in his voice.

Katsuyu, still reeling from the recent events, chimed in, "It's truly worrying. The energy unleashed in the battle between you and Deva Path after the Nine Tails transformation was incredibly destructive. Thankfully, Carnes-san intervened to control the impact, preventing the village from being razed to the ground."

Naruto, his mood now lifted, couldn't help but express his gratitude, "That's fantastic, truly great!"

However, amidst the jubilation, Naruto's admiration for Carnes deepened. He had harbored doubts about the judgment of his father, Minato, especially considering such big status of the First Hokage.

Yet, witnessing Carnes in action, Naruto couldn't help but believe in the greater strength of this enigmatic figure.

Carnes had demonstrated a level of control that surpassed mere combat prowess. Naruto acknowledged that defeating opponents was one thing, but managing the aftermath without causing collateral damage was another skill entirely.

He pondered the contrast between his own abilities and those of Carnes.

While Naruto could defeat most ninjas, controlling the chaos that ensued in the wake of a battle was a different challenge.

Carnes, comfortably seated in a rocking chair, overseeing the conflict like a spectator watching two crickets fight, showcased an unparalleled mastery over the situation.

In Naruto's eyes, it was akin to Carnes enclosing the battlefield like a cage, watching the unfolding skirmish with an air of detachment.

The metaphor of two fighting crickets encapsulated the essence of Carnes' approach — a dimensionality reduction attack, where the outcome was predetermined and easily manipulated.

The reality aligned with Naruto's perception. Carnes treated the battle with Deva Path as a form of entertainment, effortlessly maintaining control.

The analogy of a cockfight resonated, the field enclosed, the fighters engaged, and Carnes orchestrating the spectacle at his leisure.

As Naruto marveled at this unique perspective, he couldn't help but acknowledge the true extent of Carnes' power.

On the battlefield, Naruto and the Deva Path stood facing each other, their bodies adorned with numerous scars that bore witness to the grueling battle they had endured.

The atmosphere hung heavy with exhaustion, both warriors seemingly at the brink of their limits.

Deva Path, his attire partially stripped, shot a cold gaze at Naruto and uttered, "It's time to end this."

"I wonder if you grasp the essence of pain," he continued, his voice carrying a harsh edge.

"Without experiencing the same pain, understanding others becomes a futile endeavor. Even if understanding is achieved, forgiveness may remain elusive. Just like your futile pursuit of Sasuke!"

Nagato's fixation on this pursuit had become an obsession, fueled by his resentment toward the ninjas of Konoha and their ideals.

He believed that his pain was incomprehensible to others, leading him to provoke Naruto repeatedly.

Yet, Nagato could have easily vanquished Naruto in their initial encounter. At that point, Naruto had lost all mobility, saved only by Hinata's intervention.

Nagato, however, chose to extend the conflict, aiming to inflict a profound mental blow on Naruto.

Unfazed by Nagato's words, Naruto spoke with profound seriousness, "Take me to your true body. I want to speak directly to him."

He repeated this request emphatically, catching the interest of Carnes on the Hokage's building rooftop. It was evident that Naruto intended to use his talk no jutsu.

In terms of sheer strength, Naruto might not stand a chance against Nagato now, but Carnes admitted that Naruto was the most powerful being in the world when it came to convince people with his speech, with no one daring to claim the top spot.

Deva Path displayed mild surprise, raising an eyebrow. "Oh? Have you sensed my true body's presence? Jiraiya-sensei, people from Konoha seem quite perceptive."

Naruto persisted, "I need to talk to him, regardless."

However, Deva Path brushed off the plea, dismissing it as irrelevant. As he advanced towards Naruto, Carnes observed silently.

The outcome remained uncertain, as Nagato's persistence could potentially tip the scales in his favor.

Yet, Naruto refused to relent, pleading, "Please, let me talk to him!"

Deva Path paid no heed, continuing his steady approach, leaving the fate of the confrontation hanging in the balance.
