Chapter 37: The World Isn't Small

*Whoosh!!!

An awkward silence took over. Sakura looked at the blonde-haired boy with a speechless expression. The boy was still extending his hand towards Sakura.

'How do I tell him that his act has been caught?' Sakura fell into a dilemma. On the one hand, she could play with it and everything should be alright. On the other hand, she could tell him and the situation would become more awkward.

'And besides, even if the wind magic thing was true I can't hundred percent guarantee the hooligans were fake.'

< Wind magic was being used to make them fly into the air and also cushion their fall.>

"..."

'Well looks like this guy was caught in 4k' Sakura really didn't have anything more to say. She was trying to give him the benefit of the doubt. However, no matter how Sakura looked at it.

Let's just tell him the truth. I don't want any misunderstandings.'

However, the problem was how to tell him.

"Cough, ahm, miss?"

The blonde-haired boy's voice broke her thought. 'uh! I forgot he was still waiting.'

"Um… uuu…" Sakura stuttered, not finding the words to say.

"You are pretty good at wind magic aren't you?" Sakura said while laughing awkwardly.

Upon hearing Sakura's words the blonde boy instantly went quiet.

Sakura could see a shade of red on the boy's ears grow redder and redder.

*Awkward Silence…

"So, you realized it from the start?" The blonde-haired boy sighed in defeat.

Sakura awkwardly chuckled and admitted, "The acting wasn't that good."

After a long painful silence, she got to talk with the boy. The blonde-haired boy's name was Phil. Full name Philip.

"Pfft, light bulbs," Sakura chuckled internally.

Philip seems to be a middle-class citizen here. Not too poor, but not rich either. Because of this Phil has a lot of boys from the poor families that follow him around. Basically, he was like a mini-boss around the slum area.

"Are there any places I can stay?" Sakura asked Phil.

"Uh… yeah, we do. There are several inns around the adventurers guild."

"Where's the adventures guild?" Sakura asked.

"Uu… it's… You know what let me take you there."

Sakura didn't have any reason to deny Phil's invitation. so, she accepted.

"You're a traveler? No wonder you seem new to this town." Phil exclaimed.

"Are travelars rare?" Sakura asked as they walked.

The evening sky was turning dark and Phil was leading Sakura to an inn.

"You bet. Most travelers die on their journey. The ones that don't die are really strong." Phil stopped his sentence at a sudden realization. He looked at Sakura with strange eyes. "Are you strong as well?" Phil asked.

Sakura chuckled at his words. "Well of course." She confirmed.

"Oh! How strong are you? Can you beat a boar?" Phil's eyes sparkled like a kid.

Sakura nearly broke down with laughter hearing a boar. She could probably erase them out of existence with a single blow. "Of course," Sakura confirmed while holding in her laughter.

"Wow, no wonder you were able to detect my wind magic!" Phil's eyes glowed more and more with admiration. Sakura's image in his mind grew from that of a potential lover to that of a master.

"Will you teach me magic?" Phil suddenly asked.

"Nope." Sakura flatly denied it. She didn't have the intention to obliterate the world.

Phill looked down but Sakura couldn't do anything about it. If she performed magic then she could forget about this city's existence.

"This is the place?" Sakura looked at the signboard. In the dim street lights, you could faintly outline the name.

[Hermits Den.]

A weird name for an inn. But at least there was a fair bit of crowd inside. Crowd aside the place was also quite clean.

"Yes, this is the hermit's den. It's one of the top-class inns for the adventurers. It has top-class cleanliness and also gives free food three times a day. They also charge very fair prices…" Phil went on to explain everything about the inn.

While listening to Phil's explanation Sakura opened the door.

*Ting!!!

A sweet bell rang upon opening the door. The people inside who were eating took a glance at Sakura. They seem to be curious about who this new arrival was.

"Uncle Max!" Phil called out to someone.

After getting no reply he called out again.

"Uncle Max! We have guests."

"Calm down little Phil, your uncle Max isn't home" A woman came out of the door from behind the cash counter.

"Eh? Where is he?" Phil walked to the counter. Sakura followed behind him. People were curiously looking at her. But Sakura didn't mind. After all, she did the same thing when she saw foreigners in her previous life.

"Your uncle Max has gone to fetch some bears." The woman at the counter said. Her gaze then fell onto Sakura. "Oh! A new face. Are you new here?" She asked with interest.

"Yes, I was wondering if you had any vacant rooms."

"Oh! My, of course, my dear."

After that, everything went really smoothly. Sakura got the room with a discount of one silver coin with Phil's recommendation. She did have some problems explaining her origin. But Astra helped with that. Her background story this time was that she was an orphan traveler. who travels around and buys and sells foreign things like a merchant. She had to tell fake stories about traveling around the world.

With Astra's help and a little EP spending, she was able to come up with a believable story.

Some of the explanations piqued her interest as well.

There is a place called the "Snow Dessert" up north. According to what she knew the snow dessert was a white mysterious meadow. Then there's the world tree towards the west. A giant tree where elves live. The No Man's land in another interesting place.

There is a country up north which is the only connecting land between two entire continents.

There is an advanced civilization in the southwest that uses science and magic together. They're called the "Noirs". They are essentially humanoid cats, with a human body and cat heads.

'This world is bigger than I thought.' Initially, Sakura had thought this world was like a Western fantasy world. But it seems there is far more cultural variance in this world.

Heck, the ones she had talked about were just limited to this continent only. There were three more continents like this.

After delivering a good story Sakura was pardoned from the curious crowds. Sakura plopped on the bed, tired. Today was a wild one.

She killed for the first time. Then she met some interesting people. And here she was. A mental exhaustion took over her.

<Good Night, Master.>

"Thanks, Astra." She softly muttered as she fell asleep.
