As the morning sun began to rise over the sleepy town, the birds chirping and occasional car passing were the only sound on the streets. The smell of freshly brewed coffee wafted through the air
"Good morning" I greeted as soon as Ana entered the from the front door of the cafe
It has been four days since I started working in cafe and it has been good, there are all together 5 employees, Ana who is the manager and also the waiter, Jace who is the waiter and Emma who handles the kitchen work along with Noah and then me who handles the cash counter. All of us serve when there are more costumers
"Good morning Madeline" She smiled up at me
Fortunately everyone is friendly because if even one of them was rude I'd go back home, I cannot tolerate them
I went to the back side of the cafe and wore my apron and went towards the cash counter to start my day
I wore a beige tank top paired with denim shorts and my old Jordan's and my work apron on it
I was sorting out the bills in the drawer when the cafe doors opened, I didn't look up since the person will come at the counter to order
"Can I have a chocolate croissant and black coffee" Someone said from opposite me and holy damn his voice is attractive, I looked up to see and a boy around my age standing in front of me
He was wearing a grey sweatshirt with black shorts, damn those toned legs paired with white Airforce
"Good morning, sure you wlil have your order ready in 10 minutes, your total is 3.77"
I swiped his card and gave back to him
"Hope you have a good day" I smiled at him, and not my work smile my actual smile but damn, boy just nodded and went and took a seat near window
Well alright not everyone is a morning person even if it's 10 in the morning which is quite late, I sighed and got back to making his coffee since others were busy with their work
After getting his order ready I carefully balanced the tray of steaming coffee and croissant and made my way to his table, he was sitting at the cozy corner of the cafe. He was looking out of the window, I served him his order and thought to initiate a conversation since there's literally no hope for me to have a love story unless I don't try
"Here is your order, enjoy" I smiled at him and placed the order in front of him
"Thank you" He said without looking up
"I've never actually seen you around, are you new here?" OH MY GOD THAT IS SO BLAND
"Yes I'm visiting my grandmother for the summer" He said while looking up at me
Okay now what? Should have taken some communication skills
"Oh wow that's great" I said while smiling nervously at him, I am so bad at this I'm going to cry
He nodded at me and got back to drinking his coffee, way to make a fool of myself, this is so awkward
"You can call me up if you need anything else I'll take my leave" I said and turned around to go back
I closed my eyes tightly and started cursing myself for my stupidity
I kept stealing few glances at him while working and he looks good even while sipping his coffee, whish I had that charming side profile. I sighed and got back to work
I start doing my work while conversing with few customers while taking their orders
The guy is still there and it's been an hour, should probably forget about him since his just here for the summers
