In a room at the top of the Triskelion, Nick Fury was sitting at his desk.
The last few days have been quite stressful for him.
The fabled weapons genius, Tony Stark was abducted by a terrorist organization while he was on a business trip to Afghanistan.
The news of this got out and has caused quite a bit of panic among the people. Tony Stark can practically be called the richest man in America, yet he was kidnapped by terrorists even when he had military escorts protecting him.
Many politicians have taken this chance to throw mud at the army and try to rally support for their campaign, while government officials have been working hard to control the damage caused by the kidnapping, both political and economic.
However, none of these involve the SHIELD.
So people might wonder why he was busy.
Well, it was because the upper-level officials have decided to blame the SHIELD for "their oversight to threats on an important person of America led the terrorists to kidnap the richest man in America".
It was clearly just trying to blame SHIELD for the incompetence of the military.
So Nick Fury did his duty and found out all the things the SHIELD could get on these terrorists and handed them over to the president.
It turns out that these terrorists were a part of the Ten Rings. They were the Branch of Ten Rings that was operating in Afghanistan.
Now how did some playboy like Tony Stark offend a behemoth like Ten Rings, he didn't know.
However, now that it was clear the Ten Rings were behind this kidnapping, all hands were on deck. SHIELD would work with the military and CIA to rescue Tony Stark, as was decided by the President.
So now Nick Fury was stuck in his office, making plans to try and get Intel on Tony Stark's position.
Suddenly the door to his office opened and walked in a lady with red hair.
She threw a document on his table and sat down on a chair.
"Well well well. Nick Fury, the Director of SHIELD, working hard at midnight! How the tables have turned!", smirked the red-haired woman.
"How did your mission go, Agent Romanoff?", asked Fury standing up from his desk and looking at the red-haired woman.
"It went well. There were a few hiccups but nothing a little concussion couldn't solve. Here's the new Intel we have on the KGB. They are not involved in this kidnapping it seems.", said the woman now revealed as Natasha Romanoff becoming serious.
"Hmmm, so it only is the Ten Rings. But why? The Ten Rings aren't an organization that would just kidnap somebody to get weapons, they have channels all over the world and can get illegal shipments anytime they want. Somehow, I feel like we are missing a piece of the puzzle.", pondered Nick Fury as he messaged his temple.
"So what are you going to do next?", asked Natasha.
"I will send a team of intel experts with Coulson as their leader to work with the military in Afghanistan. The priority is still to rescue Tony Stark. We can handle the Ten Rings after rescuing him. So, agent Romanoff, take a few days off. Because you're going to have to go undercover again.", said Nick Fury after thinking.
"Alright. Where's Hawkeye?", asked Natasha as she stood up to leave.
"His usual place. You know where to find him.", said Nick Fury.
Hearing that Natasha Romanoff left the room, leaving Nick Fury alone.
Nick Fury then took the document left by Natasha and went through it. After he finished reading the document, he sat on his desk and looked at his PC. He was planning on locking the documents behind level 8 security clearance.
But what he saw on his display stunned him.
There was an ad on his display.
Now Nick Fury wasn't a person that would be stunned by a pop-up. However, he was now in his office, using his PC which is connected to the most secure network on the planet. His seeing an advert on his PC only meant one thing. That his PC got hacked.
So he quickly hit a button hiding under his desk. That button was designed to be used in a situation where his PC was hacked. It would sever the power connection from his PC and render it unusable.
However, even so, his PC didn't turn off. It remained open, showing that same pop-up.
So he pressed the red button under his desk and red alarms started buzzing around the Triskelion.
He had officially declared a level 1 emergency in the Triskelion. This meant that the Triskelion is now on guard to defend against an attack and that the top-level agents and officers were coming to his office to find out what happened.
"Bang!"
The door to his office was kicked open by Natasha as she walked into the room with batons. A man with a compound bow walked in behind her as he scanned both sides of the room.
Walking into the room behind both of them were Maria Hill, Phil Coulson, and his former boss Alexander Pierce.
Seeing Nick Fury sitting at his desk and in seemingly no danger, Pierce started walking toward him.
"What happened, Nick? Why did declare level 1 emergency?", asked Pierce.
"My computer got hacked.", said Nick Fury pointing at his monitor.
Hearing this the group got surprised. SHIELD had some of the best network experts working on ensuring their network's security, so it boasted of the best security network in the world, and even in case of getting hacked, they had fail-safes they could use.
"Did you sever the power connection?", asked Coulson.
"Yes, but the computer is still on. So I declared a level 1 emergency and closed our network from being accessed anymore. I don't know how severe the cyber attack is but it is good to stay on alert in case some terrorist group decided to attack.", said Fury.
"Deputy Director Hill, inform the cyber security department to find out how severe the attack on our network is and if any other government agencies are under a cyber attack as well.", ordered Pierce as he realized the severity of the cyber attack they couldn't even defend against.
Hearing that Maria Hill nodded and went out of the room to inform the command center on what was happening.
"How did you realize that you got hacked? I don't see the regular alarms blaring as they should if you're computer got hacked.", asked Natasha.
"Because this popped up on my monitor when I wanted to lock that document beyond a security clearance level.", said Nick Fury as everyone turned their attention to the said pop-up.
It was a typical ad like pop up of a game, except there were a few men armed to their teeth behind a box of text that read,
"Call of Duty Modern Warfare"

Reading that they understood why Nick Fury had such a dark face.
"So, we SHIELD have fallen to such a state that even scammers can hack our network to advertise their games? How am I supposed to explain to the Security Council that we got hacked by a scammer?", said Pierce as he started messaging his temple.
"Have you clicked on the pop-up?", asked Hawkeye.
"No", answered Fury.
"Then, click on the button. Since this guy went so far as to advertise his video game, you might as well see how it is. Plus even if the game is bad, we can still recruit someone like him for our Cyber security department.", reasoned Hawkeye.
"Well, you do have some merit in your words.", Nick Fury pondered on his words.
Then after thinking for a while, he decided to click on the link.
And as soon as he clicked on the link, he blacked out.

Author's Note:
Yes, after contemplating for a while, I decided on using Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare as my first game. Partly because it was the first game I have ever played in my life and the Modern Warfare Trilogy is perfect for introducing people to virtual reality.
