Chapter 264: Chapter 264: Rumors and Whispers

After the long holiday, a batch of students at Hogwarts would suddenly find themselves in desperate need of catching up on homework, and the Christmas break was no exception.

In the few days after returning to school, busy students practically filled the library to the brim.

Albert's three roommates were also caught up in the crowd, busy with their numerous assignments.

"Why can't they just finish their homework during the break?"

This wasn't the first time Shanna had felt this confusion. There was plenty of time during the Christmas break, so why did everyone have to cram and rush through their assignments now?

As Albert left the library with Shanna, she finally couldn't hold back and muttered about it. She couldn't comprehend the thought process of these people.

"Most people like to be lazy. It's a kind of laziness, and it's hard to cure." Albert casually commented with a grin.

"Of course, their efficiency in doing homework isn't very high either."

"I can't understand." Shanna couldn't help but shake her head.

"It's an issue with education." Albert laughed and didn't say more. Naturally, he wouldn't be foolish enough to directly say that wizards' education was far behind Muggle education, otherwise a group of pure-blood wizards might come after him.

After all, Hogwarts was the best wizarding school in Britain, even if it was the only one.

However, in Albert's eyes, wizards who hadn't experienced systematic education really struggled with studying.

Fred, George, and Lee Jordan's essay levels weren't high. They always squeezed everything together, making the reading experience quite dismal.

Sometimes Albert even doubted whether the professors only glanced over the assignments when grading.

Sometimes, there wasn't much difference between a "P" (Poor) and a "D" (Dreadful).

"Education?" Shanna also realized what Albert was saying and changed the topic, "By the way, I'm trying to turn my boots into a rabbit, but I just can't seem to succeed."

"You can start by trying with smaller animals. The larger the object you're transfiguring, the harder it is to succeed." Albert thought for a moment and made a suggestion, "You could try turning a teapot into a turtle, or transforming a slipper into a mouse."

"It seems immediate success is quite difficult." Shanna grumbled.

Albert's suggestion had naturally crossed her mind, but progressing step by step took up a lot of time. Shanna was hoping to find a faster and more convenient way to learn.

"Spending a lot of time practicing magic not only hones your magical skills but also develops your own magical power." Albert explained helplessly. He himself had gone through this process, but later on, he had upgraded his wizarding bloodline, significantly enhancing his magical power.

"Oh." Shanna seemed a bit absent-minded.

As they walked past a corridor, Albert noticed a group of girls huddled together whispering. He wasn't sure what they were talking about.

Moreover, a senior girl even bumped into the wall when turning a corner.

"Are you okay?" Albert couldn't help raising an eyebrow as he looked at the girl, and Shanna next to him barely contained her laughter.

"I'm... fine, thank you." The girl hurriedly left and joined a few companions, speaking in hushed tones, and Albert had no idea what they were discussing.

"Your charm is really something, huh?" Shanna couldn't help but tease.

"What's going on?" Albert looked puzzledly at Shanna, waiting for her to explain.

"Everyone is saying that you've won the most beautiful Ravenclaw girl over." Shanna said with a strange expression.

"The most beautiful Ravenclaw girl?" Albert asked curiously, "Who is it?"

"You don't know?" Shanna covered her mouth and chuckled, probing, "It's Isabelle MacDougall. I heard that you two have a good relationship."

"Isabelle, huh?" Albert nodded, "Isabelle is indeed a beautiful girl."

"She's quite famous at school. I remember you two had a good relationship." Shanna continued to probe.

"It's alright, just ordinary friends." Albert suddenly asked, "Which boring person is spreading these unreliable rumors again?"

"I don't know." Shanna shook her head, confirming that the situation was pretty much as she had guessed.

"But what does this have to do with that guy's reaction just now?" Albert was puzzled.

"Because you're something of a celebrity at school too." Shanna couldn't help but shake her head. "When two celebrities come together, it becomes a popular topic."

"Alright." Albert coughed and directly ignored her words, forcefully changing the topic, "I suggest you buy a copy of 'Intermediate Transfiguration.'"

"Don't change the subject." Shanna asked curiously, "You didn't really get together with Isabelle, did you? I thought you..."

"I thought I what?" Albert looked at Shanna with a helpless expression.

"I thought you liked Katrina."

Albert was a bit stunned. What kind of nonsense was this?

Wait... He suddenly realized who might be spreading these rumors about him.

"Is it those idiots Fred and the others spreading rumors about me?" Albert suddenly said.

"I don't know." Shanna shook her head, indicating that she had no idea.

"Hmph, aside from those guys, who else would be so boring?" Albert was contemplating how to give Fred and the others a lesson.

"Alright, it was rumored from the Ravenclaw side."

Shanna said helplessly, "Isabelle has a small pendant, a very delicate unicorn. Fred said that you put a lot of effort into carving it from wood and it ended up looking like that."

"Those people really have too much time on their hands!" Albert was quite speechless. "Alright, stop paying attention to those trivial matters. If I were you, I'd focus on Transfiguration."

"I suggest you buy a copy of 'Intermediate Transfiguration.'" Albert forcefully brought the topic back, "If you think you can handle it, I suggest you not be too constrained by what you learn in class. That will limit your learning speed and magical level. The textbooks we get in class only cover the most basic things."

"Are you really so unconcerned?" Shanna couldn't help but sigh.

"You should actively engage with and learn magic, rather than passively accept it." Albert's tone was very plain. "Also, anyone who believes rumors without thinking is a fool in my eyes."

"As long as your Transfiguration level surpasses that of most students in your year, there's a good chance Professor McGonagall will invite you to join the Transfiguration Club." Albert stopped at a corner, looking at the curious girls who were glancing this way, feeling somewhat helpless.

"Really?" Shanna was a bit excited. She had heard about the Transfiguration Club a long time ago; it was said that students who were invited to join the club needed to have a high level of skill in Transfiguration.
