Chapter 109: Faster Fusion?

(~˘▾˘)~~(˘▾˘~)

======

Sam Lane.

After graduating from high school, he unexpectedly learned from Chloe that Lois Lane was her cousin.

Thinking that Clark might go to Metropolis and possibly meet Lois Lane, David decided to search online to see what Lois Lane looked like.

'Accidentally flipped through the background information about Lois Lane, a rising star journalist at the Daily Planet, which included a photo of Sam Lane,' he thought.

After just a quick glance, David, with his strong memory, had it remembered in his mind.

If he killed Sam Lane, what would happen when Clark eventually met Lois Lane?

Anyway, it's not him who was targeted, so he'll leave this matter for Clark to handle in the future.

"This time, the cost should be enough to make you remember for a long time, Sam Lane."

In the end, David didn't kill Sam Lane; he just confronted him, letting him face the terrifying heat-emitting laser eyes before warning him and leaving him lying on the cold ground.

"There won't be a next time."

Smelling the strange burnt odor in the room, Sam Lane, who had been threatened, watched as the figure that seemed to have left his own backyard, his face pale, clenched his teeth, listening to the cold voice echoing in the room.

David left the nearly destroyed base with Clark and returned home.

Ding Dong!

"Mom," David smiled.

"Thank God!"

The doorbell rang, and the younger son stood outside, supporting the older son who had been taken away by the military. Seeing the two of them safely return, Martha exclaimed to God, overwhelmed with happiness.

"Clark, are you okay?"

Jonathan quickly took the pale-as-paper eldest son from David's hands and had him sit on the soft couch in the living room.

"I'm fine, Mom and Dad."

Clark weakly smiled.

"He was injected with anesthesia; he just needs a good sleep," David poured a glass of water and handed it to Clark.

In fact, if it weren't nighttime and there was no sunlight, a few seconds of sunlight would have restored Clark to his normal state.

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you about my work as a city vigilante."

After being subjected to electric shocks and sonic weapon attacks, his ears ringing and his mouth dry, Clark downed a glass of water in one go and confessed to his parents with a guilty look.

On the way home, David had told him about what was happening at home, and his parents had seen on the news that he had been taken away, nearly driving them crazy with worry.

He went to fight crime in the city without telling his parents, but they actually guessed it. Clark hadn't expected this turn of events, which made his parents worry so much for him.

"Clark, you make us proud."

Jonathan shook his head and encouraged his son, squeezing his shoulder.

"I've always believed that God brought you here and gave you these abilities for a reason.

Now you've found your purpose, bringing hope to those in danger. How many families have been saved from destruction and grief because of you?"

"There's nothing to apologize for, Clark."

Martha's eyes were filled with tears, and her face radiated a gentle smile.

"You're using your abilities for good, to rescue others. This time, Jonathan and I won't stand in your way."

'Rescue? If it weren't for David this time, I don't know how I would have escaped.'

Thinking back on today's events, Clark, who had endured a lot of torture, smiled bitterly.

It would have been better if his brother hadn't killed so many people when he rescued him, but he couldn't say that in front of his parents.

Jonathan affectionately hugged his younger son, who had broken into a military base to save his older brother, and the family embraced each other.

"The proudest moment of our lives is raising you two brothers."

...

Comforting their worried parents, David and Clark went upstairs to sleep, standing at the doors of their respective rooms.

Things had taken a rollercoaster ride in a short time. First, their eldest son was taken away by the military, and then their younger son broke into a military base to rescue the older one. While both sons had returned, the exhaustion was overwhelming, and the couple couldn't control their fatigue, so they quickly went to sleep.

"You've already become a target; you should be more cautious in the future."

Clark was already too tired to hold back and just wanted to enter his room to sleep.

As he opened the door and moved, David turned and reminded him, "I wouldn't want to see you strapped to an electric chair at a military base again someday."

They both tactic agreement on some details and didn't mention them to their parents.

"I know."

Clark scratched his head.

This was already the umpteenth time his younger brother had helped him. He was obviously the older brother.

David nodded and returned to his room, staring at the ceiling.

He hoped that Clark had truly learned his lesson.

Last time, he hadn't mentioned Superman's most significant weakness, which was his kindness.

If it weren't for his kindness, Superman wouldn't have had to endure so much, and even Kryptonite wouldn't pose much of a threat.

'At the speed of a Kryptonian, just before someone else takes out Kryptonite, he could fly up into Earth's atmosphere, and in the next instant, turn a person into ashes with his heat vision.'

Speedsters had too much leeway when facing enemies, but Superman never guarded against others and often fell victim to villains exploiting his kind-hearted nature.

David didn't expect Clark to change his personality.

'If he changes, Superman won't be Superman anymore.'

He only hoped that when Superman was doing his superhero duties, he would maintain some necessary vigilance.

He had previously mentioned that he still had a fatal weakness, and with events like this, Clark should have learned his lesson.

...

David successfully rescued Clark from the military base outside the city, but the matter didn't end there.

Metropolis was in turmoil. David appeared at the military-sealed scene, forcefully demanding that soldiers reveal Superman's whereabouts, then disappeared after only a brief appearance.

However, everyone on the internet was discussing his identity and his abilities. When he appeared, his whole body emitted a rich purple light, making his face unrecognizable, shrouded in mystery. The citizens of Metropolis, based on his most distinctive feature, called him the 'Purple Light Man'.

"It looks like he appeared because of Superman. What's the relationship between Purple Light Man and Superman?"

Some people's attitudes were almost tabloid-like.

"Is he here to save Superman?"

"Who's stronger, him or Superman?"

But there were also some people who were greatly disturbed by Purple Light Man's appearance.

"First Superman, now Purple Light Man. How many of these people with abilities are hiding on our planet?"

"He looks completely different from Superman. Superman always gives off a warm and kind-hearted appearance, while he... due to his urgency to save people, I don't sense much gentleness in him. Could he become a threat to the city and even the world?"

"The military blockade outside the city sounded like bombings for nearly half an hour. Is Purple Light Man fighting against the military or duking it out with Superman?"

The incident of Superman being captured, and everything related to Purple Light Man became the headline news in Metropolis the next day.

"Superman saves citizens but is taken by the military. Mysterious Purple Light Man appeared to save Superman?"

Having finished breakfast, David opened a copy of the Metropolis Daily Life newspaper, sitting on a recliner on the balcony outside the door. He glanced at the newspaper headlines and raised an eyebrow.

"Even Metropolis Daily Life, which usually doesn't care about these things, is reporting on this incident. People are quite curious about you."

Clark walked out with a cup of coffee, leaning against the railing, suggesting and teasing his younger brother.

"How about joining me as a vigilante and forming a vigilante duo? You have even stronger abilities than I do."

It was initially meant as a joke, but as he spoke, he realized that if his brother truly joined him in saving others, he would undoubtedly do a better job than him.

"I'm not interested in that kind of thing."

After a quick glance, David set the newspaper aside and gazed into the distance of the farm.

"I don't have much precious vacation time left; I want to spend it on my next trip."

[Template integration reached 99%...]

Staring at the panel, he raised an eyebrow. Is the integration progress a bit abnormal? Why was the number jumping faster than expected?
