Chapter 16: Elizabeth
"Ok that's the exploring part, do you have something to sell to the guild?"
"Yes, I have quite a lot to be honest. 23 kothke mushrooms, 56 high class healing herbs, 112 carcasses of wolf monsters 13 of them being alphas, 86 sword rabbit corpses, 1 carcass of that weird bear with snake tail, and finally 24 carcasses of black panthers"
Elizabeth's jaw dropped. It took her few seconds to wake up from her stupor.
"Okay now one by one. Did you found a place were "high class healing herbs" grow.?"
"Yes, I can show you if pull out the map"
She pulled the map back out and I pointed to the clearing.
"It grows on this huge clearing, but there is also a lot of sword rabbits around it."
"We know about the sword rabbits, that's the reason most people don't venture there. They are weak but they attack in groups and just one slip up is enough and they penetrate you with the horn. Honestly in that side of forest people normally just hunt wolves. Rabbits are problematic as I mentioned and behind the clearing is territory of panthers. They like to ambush the prey from the shadows."
"Most high rank adventurers that could go there prefer stable income from guarding the mines and caravans. Or are adrenaline junkies and go to the forest of the dead in the south, for bigger payoff"
Elizabeth smiled.
"But now we can make higher paying missions there once the ruins and healing herbs are confirmed. That should lure some higher ranked adventurers."
"Ok now regarding your load, please unload herbs first."
"Here is 23 kothke mushrooms, 56 high class healing herbs"
Elizabeth looked through the herbs and mushrooms.
"Everything is in order; they were even gathered correctly. It's going to be 1 point and 1 silver coin per mushroom. As for the herbs it's going to be 10 points and 10 silver coins per herb."
She put everything into the storage
"OK now please the bodies. Let's start with rabbits. Please put them there."
She pointed to the empty space in the room. And I unloaded the rabbits there. She counted the rabbits and checked the condition of their bodies.
"OK that's 86 sword rabbits, all horns intact. That would be 3 points and 3 silver a piece."
She grabbed the rabbits into her storage and spoke.
"Now the bear as you called it, please." I unloaded the bear
"That is indeed chimera bear, fur fully intact. How did you kill it?"
"Meter long sword down the throat did the trick."
"I should just accept that you are special and stop being surprised. It's going to be 100 points and 1 Gold."
She again put the bear away.
"Ok now alpha wolves please"
"Here they go. 13 alpha wolves as ordered."
"Everything is in order. 3 points and 3 silver a piece. Now wolves please."
"Here are 99 wolves."
"Everything in order. 1 point and 1 silver a piece."
"That leaves the grand price for now. Please the panthers."
"Here are 24 panthers as promised."
This time Elizabeth really took her time checking them.
"All of them was cleaned of the blood, and killed by single chop, either severing the head or cutting the throat. Fur is in perfect condition on all of them. It is going to be 100 points and 1 gold a piece."
"Now let's count it all for now:
Exploration – 250 points and 250 silver (2.5 gold)
Mushrooms - 23 points and 23 silver
Herbs - 560 points and 560 silver
Rabbits- 258 points and 258 silver
Bear – 100 points and 1 Gold
Alpha wolfs – 39 points and 39 silver
Wolfs – 99 pints and 99 silver
And panthers – 2400 points and 24 gold"
"That makes it together 3729 points and 37 gold and 29 silver. For the points and money from the clearing and ruins you will have to wait for confirmation. But before I enter that into our system, I have a business proposition for you. Are you interested?"
"I am listening." I uttered slightly surprised. Lola seems to react and growl a little bit. What made me pull out of me surprise and chuckle a bit.
"This may sound weird but listen to me, I feel like if I don't say this, I would be kicking myself for the rest of my life. If you are planning to bring hauls like this, you don't really need points from beasts. You can get rank ups just by exploring. And if you want, I can end my job here and become your handler. I can sell all the stuff where is valued far more than this, plus I have contacts with best artisans around, and all the guilds after 5 years I work in this business so I can get you stuff crafted, and also, I can get you services of most of guilds cheaper and faster. With delivery directly to door. I can even handle your visits to adventurer's guild."
"And what do you want for all this?"
"Just measly 5 gold a month."
Lola's growl was heard in the room.
"Hmm did I do something to your wolf?"
"Lola you can transform and speak for yourself." I chuckled as I said that.
Lola transformed. Turned to Elizabeth and started to speak. "Are you planning to homewreck?"
She asked with straight face. I on the other hand could not hold a chuckle.
"Isn't she cute?" I asked.
Dumbfounded expression was plastered all over the face of Elizabeth. After few seconds she woke up out of her stupor. And turned to Lola.
"I am over 20, don't you think even if I wanted to have something with him, I am too old for him."
She turned to me. And I pulled Lola back into my lap and started to caress her hair, what made her relax.
"It's very rare for spirit beast to be able to do this. In her age."
"She was able to do that since she was like 2"
This absolutely floored Elizabeth and she had to sit on the chair and took about a minute until she was able to communicate again.
"Well It should not surprise me any longer when it is related to you."
"Regarding your offer, I have few questions."
"Ask."
"How much do you make now in the guild? You don't have to answer this one I am just curious."
"1 gold a month, and let me tell you it is not enough if you take into account the fact how many shtheads I have to deal with every single day."
"Can you also handle auctions across the kingdom when I am looking for something in auction house somewhere in the kingdom?"
"Sure, no problem."
"Would it be possible to sign a mana contract?"
"Sure, I have one on me right now"
"Would it be possible to move into my mansion so I don't have to look for you? Nothing perverted, I live in a big mansion you would get living space for yourself on your own."
"Sounds good."
"And the last question. When can you start?"
