Chapter 23: Chapter 20: Suiw's bad day
Lusaka
Sosola Compound
The Sosola compound located in the south side of Lusaka was relatively large with a large garden, swimming pool, and a tennis court. The house was a two story one consisting of multiple rooms. Now we find ourselves in the dining room where Mutale and Jemima were having their breakfast in silence. Mutale was just sipping some coffee.
"Suiw's not awake yet?" Mutale asked his wife.
"Oh, you know how it is on holidays she tends to sleep in late." Jemima answered while not taking her eyes off the tablet.
"You seem tense, dear , is something wrong?"
"No, it's okay." She grumbled as she put down her tablet and began eating her breakfast.
"Jemima, you know you can tell me anything." He reassured her.
"I wish that was the same for you sometimes." She mumbled.
"Morning momma morning daddy." Suiw arrived at the dining room table wearing star themed pajamas.
"Morning sweaty." Both the parents greeted her.
"Donata!" Jemima called the maid, which didn't take long to arrive.
"Yes Ma." She politely answered.
"Be a dear and go get Suiw's food."
"Okay Ma." She left for the kitchen.
It didn't take long for her to come back with some scrambled eggs, chapati, sausage and some juice. The girl silently said her prayers and then began to eat. Suiw was wondering why her dad was still around since he mostly leaves really early in the morning.
"So little diamond, how is the training coming?" Mutale asked his daughter.
"Oh, fine, I guess. We won't have any of them for like two weeks." She answered.
"And your quirk."
"It's coming up great, see." She made her whole folk in to a diamond.
"Suiw what did I say about using your quirk on objects in the house." Jemima scowled her, causing her to turn the fork back.
"Sorry momma." Suiw apologised. "Daddy are you going to be staying for a while." She asked hopefully.
"Sorry Suiw but I have to leave in 30 minutes."
"LEAVE BUT YOU JUST COME BACK YESTERDAY!!" She complained.
"Suiw am sorry but I promise that we'll spend the whole day together once I get back."
"That's what you said last time" She mumbled sadly and Jemima just looked at the interaction between themand sighed.
Now Suiw was a little bit of a daddy's girl even after Mutale would miss her birthday, go weeks to months without seeing him, whenever he would come back even though she would great him with the big hug and it didn't help that he got her a lot of stuff. Even after the time he basically exploited her quirk working her to the bone until she produced a permanent diamond for him to sell. Suiw didn't think that much of it and her young naïve thought it was just really advanced quirk training.
Jemima was furious and was extremely angry at her husband for that she didn't care if it was out of desperation, really apologetic or if it was for the good of the company. Things were a little tense between the two of them for a good bit but then this whole pillar project happened.
She won't lie and say she also wasn't guilty of that too. Over time she has been spending less and less time with her daughter and the days where she would pick her up from school were gone. Her modelling and fashion agency wasn't doing too great as she had lost some of her best employees to rival agencies, made some losses and she was having trouble finding suitable candidates for her plan to explore mutant quirks better.
Sure, she received and interviewed some how were interested but she also needed to make sure they knew how to model as she still had a business to keep running. She wondered if it was still a good idea.
"What's wrong momma?" Suiw asked her.
"Oh, nothing baby, I 'm just having trouble finding a new model."
"Why not ask Ms. Caçar for help if you two are friends right plus she is really pretty."
"Yes, I know she is Suiw but she said no already" Jemima was actually a little disappointed that the cheetah woman rejected the offer.
"I can ask Chicky to help convince her."
Jemima chuckled at her daughter's eagerness to help but she really didn't want to push Minera into modelling.
After breakfast the two adults went to their respective jobs for today while Suiw went to her room watching TV since she didn't have any plans to play with any of friends today. She was watching a modernised version of the winx club which was one of her favourite shows. She really wanted to be a fairy like the six main heroines.
"Too bad I don't have a quirk which gives me fairy abilities." She fantasised herself transforming into a fairy like the winx with her own sparkly dress.
As he made it past four episodes her phone began to ring and so it was her friend Jenny calling her.
"Hey Jenny." Suiw greeted her friend.
"Hey Suiw, me and Praise are going to Dominos today. Do you want to came too." She asked.
"Sure!"
"R-really."
"Why are you surprised?"
"Well, you really haven't hung out with us outside school lately and we haven't talked much this holiday."
'Well, it's not my fault those dumb exercises take up a lot of my free time.' Suiw thought annoyed. Because of those exercises she had to give up a lot of hang out with her friends making her miss out on a lot.
"Well, I am available now. I'll see you there."
"Right, we'll be waiting for you. bye!"
After the call ended Suiw switched off her TV and went to her closet and picked out some clothes for the occasion with a pink shoulder bag where she put her phone and went down stairs.
"Hey Donata." She called the maid.
"Hello Suiw." She greeted her.
"Do you know where Henry is? I need him to drive me to Dominos."
"Yes, I'll go get him for you."
"Please and thanks."
After a little Suiw was in the backseat of the car with the family driver Henry driving to her destination. When they entered a traffic jam, she looked out her window and saw three man each holding a sac while running away from what looked like police officer. Then when the light turned green and they started moving again Henry immediately stopped the car.
Before Suiw could, they saw what seemed like a big hulking man on all fours being chased down near them and ran off while being chased by three heroes.
"That was close." Henry mumbled.
"Henry, how did you know that villain was going to fall near us?" Suiw asked her driver.
"Well, this sort of thing happens a lot where am from so you can say some of us developed a sixth sense for these things."
"Are things really that bad?"
Henry didn't really want to get into a discussion on how bad the country currently is right to a nine years. This was the relatively safer side of the city where things weren't that bad in general. From what he's seen anyway.
"Well, it depends on which side of the city and county." He answered and continued driving.
He continued to drive and the ground beneath began to crack and the car stirred out of control a bit and Henry struggled to regain control.
"W-What's going on!?" Suiw questioned, frightened by what was happening. She turned and looked at the back window and saw the road cracking for some reason.
"Suiw please stay where you are and put on your seat belt." Henry told her and the child did as she was told.
After Henry gained proper control of the car but got boxed in by other cars. Then a little further away from them a big armadillo shell came out of the ground causing a minor tremor. The shell rolled on the ground and destroyed some cars in the process.
The shell opened revealing a 10 feet overweight man with pinkish skin, he was shirtless and wore black trousers. His eye looked to be pure white and his mouth was really foaming. All in all, the man looked like he had completely lost his mind.
"Suwi I think it's safer we get out of her!" Henry told the young girl who unbuckled her seat belt and the two got out of the car. They tried to flee the scene with other people who had enough common sense to know this was a dangerous situation. But with Suiw's small structure she got pushed around and separated from Henry.
The armadillo man was then hit by a big metal rocket fist. It was a hero dressed in an orange mecha themed suit and had a launcher on his fist which looked like metal gorilla arms.
Beside him was a man who had a skin tight ash-white themed suit and had an ashy cloud picture on his chest.
The armadillo man snarled at the two heroes and as he then proceeded to use a spin dash like move on them which they barely dodged. The rocket armed hero fired both his fists at the villain attempting to halt him in his tracks which proved to be useless as the rolling shell easily overpowered the fist and thanks to extra momentum managed to directly hit the rocket themed hero causing him to smash through a building window.
When the villain came out of his shell ashy smoke surrounded his face and directly entered his nostrils and he coughed violently as the ash embers burned his lungs. He rolled at the ash hero but he used his quirk to propel himself off the ground and some feet to the air but the attack smashed onto the nearby building causing some rubble to fall to the crowd of people nearby which Suwi was a part off.
Since it was so crowded some people struggled to run away as the rubble was about to fall on some of them. Suiw coughed while opening her eyes and saw she was and saw she was underneath the big chunks of cement though she lucky only had a skinned left arm and leg while the others who were in that situation with her weren't so lucky.
Others had individual body parts trapped by the rubble while it was worse for others as they were fully buried. The ones still conscious were screaming in pain and a lot of them were bleeding heavily. Suiw was really terrified as the situation was similar to what he went through five years ago though the context was different. She was feeling a similar feeling of helplessness.
Even though she was scared she decided to use her quirk to the test after all that training this past year. The young girl began touching and turning most of the near rumble into crystals and levitated all in the sky. All those outside the rumble looked in awe as they saw the building and saw a little girl holding her hands in the air, controlling them and laying them down in a free spot on the ground.
Now some people went over to those still stuck in some remaining chunks and others called an ambulances for medical aid. Others began taking pictures of the action tagging the girl.
"Suiw!" Henry ran to the girl glad he caught up with his boss's daughter. "Are you alright?"
"Y-yeah a-am fine just take me home." She told the driver who nodded.
"Suiw, I think we should take you to the hospital." He tried to reason.
"Take. Me. Home." She basically demanded.
The villain fight moved a little further away and so maybe they could get a taxi as the car was destroyed. But there was a little problem as the previous hulking running all fours smashed through a window of a building and landed near them.
The crowd was paralyzed in fear as they didn't really know what to do. Suiw cursed her luck today from being crushed by rubble to facing a big facing villain. The villain just snarled similar to the armadillo, as both seemed to be completely out of his mind.
The feral looking man took a step near them and everybody was frozen in fear. Suiw's eyes watered out of a fear for her life but her and flashbacks to the day men who kidnapped and almost killed her when she was four. She subconsciously clotted her hands in diamonds.
Before the man could make anymore moves a huge goop of clay trapped the man who struggled to get out of the substance. It was the pro hero Ceramic and was with one of the three heroes who were previously chasing after the villain.
"Sorry I need you all to step back." He instructed as lot of clay shot out of his hands and made a wall between the crowd and the combatants.
Suiw's fast beating heart at least had a little relief but her arms and legs were still shaking a bit.
"Henry, please just take me home." The girl basically begged at this point as her breathing went back to normal.
Henry didn't say anything and looked for and found a proper taxi for the two of them and went back to the Sosola compound. Where Donata insisted she at least just spirits and some bandages on her slightly skinned arm and leg.
Suiw went straight to her room after that and laid on her bed. She remembered when she was in the pile of rubble, she saw people bleeding out getting injuries she had only seen in movies save the past incident. Then when that crazy villain jumped in front of them, she was completely paralyzed in fear and if he attacked, she could do nothing to defend herself despite having a great quirk and the training.
She really hated that feeling of helplessness.
"Will I have to deal with all these scary situations all the time when I become a hero?" She asked herself as she turned to the left side of her bed and took out her phone and saw a lot of messages and missed calls from Praise and Jenny.
She simply texted both that a villain attack happened so she had to go back home. She didn't wait for a reply from them and dialed a certain number.
"Hey Chimwemwe." She was glad he really didn't take long to pick up his phone.
"Hey Suiw what's wrong?" Chimwemwe noticed the slight shakiness in her voice.
"You once told me that your aunt and a lady at the gym taught you how to fight right?" She asked.
"Yeah."
"Do you think they could teach how to kick butt too?" She asked hopefully and Chimwemwe was a little taken back by the request.
