Chapter 42: Clothes and lunch
"He took her shopping"
"Brought her a lot of stuff"
"Then they went to a restaurant"
"To have lunch"
The city mall was bustling as always. Shops had the clothes made of the finest fabric stacked up in them and people who had bought their desired stuff were emerging out of the shops carrying paper bags inside which their items were. Some shops had a sale going on and the jewellery shops which had necklaces and bracelets placed inside the shops would make the passerby's look at them in admiration at how beautiful and well made they were. Shoe shops were selling shoes of all types and sizes. Heels, pumps,block heels and sandals in all colours and sizes were available.
Louis was here to get Jurin some warm clothes and he took her to a shop. The shop had warm jackets,coats,sweater and dresses. Some had fur inside them and some had fur outside them to keep the wearer warm and safe from the cold weather. Jurin was looking at the sweaters,some were half sleeve and some covered the entire top body.
"Jurin. This black one looks nice and it seems your size. Try it on" Jurin looked at the black sweater Louis was showing her. It was a black wool sweater with a pattern embroided on it. Jurin asked the employee if she could try it on and the employee told her that she can. Jurin tried the sweater and said that it fits perfectly.
"Then let's buy this one and few others for you" When any of the other sweaters didn't meet their liking Louis asked the employee to show them the best ones and the employee began to do his work by showing them the warm clothes.
"This grey one would suit you too" said Louis picking up a gray cotton sweater. It wasn't Jurin's size so they had to see if there was one just like that which would actually fit Jurin's body and luckily the shop had one.
After buying the black wool sweater,the gray cotton sweater and another sweater the next in the list for Louis to get Jurin was coats. The shop had a variety of coats including long coats and short coats. Coats with buttons and coats without buttons. Coats which had pockets and coat which were pocketless. A skin colour coat caught Jurin's eyes and the employee brought it to her. It was a simple but stylish coat and also fulfilled the task to keep the person warm.
"Mam we also have the same coats in different colours. If you would like to have a look then I can show you"
"Bring them"said Louis and the employee went to grab the same coat but in different colours.
"I don't think we need to see the other coats. This coat is nice" Jurin who was still holding on to the coat told Louis who in return asked
"Do you like that one?" Jurin's reply to his question was a yes just when the employee came back with the other coats. One was maroon,One was black,One was white,One was gray and One was dark green.
"Those are also good but I think this skin colour one would do"
"Did you like any other coats here?" Louis questioned Jurin before he took out his card to pay for the coat.
"The others were nice but this one was just the best for me. I really liked it" Louis smiled and then told the employee something making Jurin surprised.
"We will be buying this one"he pointed to the skin coat in Jurin's hand
"And all of those too"his index finger then pointed to the coats of different colours.
Jurin looked at him surprised and confused in what she is going to do with that many coats and asked
"Why are we buying all of those those?Louis told the employee to take the coats and pack them in a bag and then answered Jurin's question
"Because you didn't like anything else except for that one so why not buy the same one but in different colours" Louis then went to the women at the cash register and paid for all the coats. The women handed him the bags with the coats and Louis took them back to Jurin.
"Do you need anything else?"
"No"she gave him a one word response
"Alright then" The two then left the city mall and returned to their car. Louis placed the bags in the car and then took the position of the driver of the vehicle.
Their next spot to be at was a restaurant. Jurin didn't know which restaurant he was taking her at and neither did he care to tell but if a rich mafia king is taking you for lunch then the least you can do is expect the best. And it did look the best from the outside. The building covered a large area of land and had three floors for the seating of customers. The interior of the restaurant was opulent with it's comfortable chairs and shining chandeliers. The tables were large in size and the floors were sweeped by the cleaners employed there. The windows showed the view outside of the restaurant and the stairs connected the three floors to one another. The bathrooms were also cleaned regularly and the staff was well mannered and kept full etiquettes towards the customers. However the customers who came to eat here were living there life lavishly because the restaurant was expensive for a normal man to afford a meal at.
Jurin and Louis sat at a table and the waitress brought them the menu. The colour of the menu was black and the letters which spelled the names of the dishes served there were printed in golden colour. As Jurin looked through the menu she didn't know what to choose.
"You shouldn't have anything too spicy as your already sick" Louis said reading the menu he was holding reminding Jurin that she had her sickness to deal with.
"What's not so spicy here then?"Jurin questioned not knowing what dishes involve many spices and which ones do not.
"I will order for you and no need to worry as nothing here tastes bad" Louis then called the waitress back and gave her their order. She then went to deliver their order to the chef who was greatly experienced in his business. Everything he made was the best and he also won many cooking competitions.
After a while of patience a guy came carrying their food to their table. Jurin smiled when she the food and Louis smiled when he saw the guy whom he knew. That man was one of Fredrick's good friends and since he was Fredrick's friend that also meant he was Louis's friend.
"Hey Louis. Long time no see friend" Chen said placing the food down on the table.
"Yeah your right but iam probably sure that Fredrick was having calls with you" Louis stood up in order to meet Chen in a proper manner recalling Fred's birthday surprise for Minnie.
"So he got caught?" Chen took the drinks which were being brought by the waitress and also putted them in the table.
"He had already been caught but he has his own life so who am I to interfere?" Chen's head moved from up to down and Jurin was waiting for Louis to finish his chats with his friend and come back to the table but when he was taking long she took a bite of the dish placed infront of her and it tasted amazing. Something that her tastebuds had never tasted before and how could they when Chen didn't exist in the same time as her and when he did she and him didn't meet even once. So this was their first encounter but even after seeing each other they shared no words at that time.
"Oh also iam getting married"told Chen the unexpected to Fredrick's bestfriend who happily said
"That's great. Me and Fredrick will try to make it"
"I know that Fred will absolutely come but your always busy so I can't predict anything about you. Can I?" Chen believed that Fred would make some time out of anywhere to be present in his moments of happiness but he also knew that the mafia king went through every day busily,always immersed in his work and it may be almost impossible for him to be at his wedding day.
"Don't worry I will try my best to arrive and also arrive at time"
"It will be a miracle if you even arrive late. But for now eat your food. It will get..."he stopped talking and moved Louis aside a bit to take a look at Jurin who was eating.
"Excuse me Miss. That wasn't your food"
"Huh?" Jurin turned to Chen and Louis facepalmmed himself realizing that Jurin ate what he had ordered for himself and just then the waitress came with Jurin's food.
"Sorry but you were really lost in those talks and I was hungry"
"Jurin you could have asked" Louis crossed his arms looking at the plate of food which was almost empty.
"It's okay Louis. I will make you another one and besides you know what they say. Ladies first. Except for I don't know who this lady is?" Chen shrugged his shoulders and listened as Louis explained to him how Jurin was sick and Chen seemed to understand it without any problem. He was chill with it and also wished Jurin
"Hope you get well soon"
Louis sat on the seat with his hand under his chin and his elbow on the table.
"Did you have breakfast?" Louis asked as his eyes went on Jurin's plate of food which was empty. She also cleared his plate and didn't leave a thing on hers.
"I did. Why do you ask?"
"You ate everything including mine. I thought you didn't have breakfast because a normal person's stomach doesn't have the capacity to store that much food"
"It's nothing like that. If I left the food then it would go to waste. To save the food I ate it" Jurin spoke. Her answer was simple but out of Louis's acceptance.
"If you eat that much then you can also get a stomach ache" Louis said when Chen brought his food in one hand and also another plate in his other hand which had a desert on it.
"Here you go"
"I didn't order the desert Chen" Louis looked at the sumptuous cake on the plate. The syrup on the cake dropped from it's top and chocolate chips had rained on the cake. A silver fork was also given to cut the cake into pieces.
"It's not for you Louis. Its for her since she is sick" Chen placed the cake infront of Jurin who was delighted but Louis didn't have the same reaction as her.
"The cake might make her more sick"
"Cake doesn't make anyone sick Louis. Let her eat and Jurin if you want more then tell me" Chen picked up the empty dishes from the table to take to the kitchen. He had employees who were there to do that work for him but he was just coming back to have small talks with the people sitting at the table.
"He is nice"Jurin said biting into the cake and loving it's sweet chocolaty taste.
"That is too quick to develop a thought about anyone but that isn't wrong. He is nice" Louis said finishing his food which was his usual order whenever he would visit the restaurant. It was his favourite out of all the delicacies they had to offer the customers.
When they were ready to leave Louis payed Chen with his card to which Chen asked him what was out of his knowledge till this day.
"What type of friend pays the other?"
"We do and thanks for the food" Louis and Jurin said their goodbyes to Chen and got ready to go home.
As the drove back to the mansion in the car Louis asked Jurin how she felt now. If she was better or not and Jurin told him that she was much better then before.
"That's good but make sure to take your medicines"
"I will. There's no need to remind me as I am not a child" Jurin didn't want Louis to think that she was childish and forgetful as she didn't like that especially coming from his mouth.
"You do act like one"
"No, I don't" Jurin's neck turned to the other side where the window was and she became grumpy. She wouldn't mind it if it came out of the mouth of a random person but Louis saying it got on her nerves because she knew that he was having fun teasing her.
"There she goes again" Louis said to which Jurin fought back by saying
"I only did that once and this is the second time. It's not that I do it every day" Louis smirked while driving and then after a minute or two he said
"Your childish but cute. Reminds me of someone" Jurin remained quite trying to figure out if Louis was calling her annoying or actually giving her a compliment.
"Who is that?" When she pulled up that question Louis gave her the name of the daughter of a partner of his who wasn't a mafia but a businessman.
"Hazel. She is marcel's daughter. Him and Audrey adopted that munchkin some time ago and I met her once. She also gets grumpy real quick. I think you might have met her because it was William who told Audrey to adopt her." Jurin remembered that day when she visited the orphanage with William and Audrey and Marcel decided to make Hazel a part of their family.
"Yes, I did see them"
In a little while they were back at that place where the journey started from and Louis took out Jurin's bags from the inside of the car and took them inside. By that time Minnie had cleaned the mansion and Fredrick also helped her. Louis gave Jurin the bags and the medicines to take upstairs when he saw Fred and the two friends began to speak to each other.
Jurin took the bags upstairs and opened the door of the room to find Minnie inside.
"Oh your back" Minnie said when she saw Jurin enter the room. When she saw the bags Jurin was holding she did get to know that the doctor's clinic wasn't the only place Jurin had visited.
"What did you get?" Minnie asked her friend who placed the bags on the bed.
"He got me some sweaters and many coats"
"Can I see?" Jurin replied with
"Sure why not" and Minnie looked at what she had bought. She looked at the sweaters and then packed them back but even she was surprised to see the coats of the same style in different colours.
"How many did you buy?" Minnie looked at her and then at the coats Infront of her.
"I only wanted one but Louis bought all of them. You can take one if you want. What am I to do with that many coats" Jurin said allowing Minnie to take one of the coats of her the colour which she liked.
"That's nice of you. Thanks" Minnie said taking the black coat.
"By the way are you hungry?" Minnie questioned so that she could give Jurin the meal she had cooked.
"No"
"Why?. If you don't feel like eating right now then I can bring you tea and cookies" Minnie gave her an offer of something sweet to eat and drink but Jurin hadn't told her that she had already eaten and had dessert at a special place.
"I have already eaten"
"Oh then did you look at the time when your supposed to take the pills?" Minnie questioned reminding Jurin of her medicine. Jurin picked up the piece of paper on which it was written when to take the medicine.
"One pill in the morning and one pill at night along with one table spoon of the syrup" read Jurin
"Don't forget that now"
"I won't don't worry" Jurin then took out the coats and the sweater and adjusted them in the closet. The bags she placed in the drawer of the side table on which a lamp was placed. The bags could be handy if they had to carry some things. However when she was done her eyes fell on the lamp. That golden lamp with crystals attached on it making it more beautiful. The lamp was switched off and whenever it was switched on and the electric current would be supplied to it,it would shine with a golden light. However a strange thing was that the golden lamp placed on Jurin's sidetable was different from the one placed on Minnie's sidetable. Minnie's was the lamp which was in the room even before Jurin came and Jurin's lamp was the new one Fredrick grabbed for Minnie after Jurin broke one of the two lamps. Fredrick couldn't find the replica of the lamp and so brought that golden lamp which had its own magnificence.
"Life is still hiding so much from me. I don't know who the voices are. I don't know what they wanted to tell me and I don't know why I have to wait. Gosh Jurin you know nothing" Jurin said under her breath knowing that Minnie was still there in the room.
Overall the day didn't go as bad as she expected it to be in the morning. She was feeling better and if the medicines do their magic then soon she would be hale and heaty. If she recovered from the sickness and pain then she could go back to her workaday. But maybe her days of usual work were about to end and in return of them days of surprises were about to come.
