The idea of creating a new house for his nieces had been brewing in Jorah's mind for a long time. He recognized the fierce warrior spirit and leadership qualities within Mormont women. However, he was determined not to change the essential nature of the Mormont women, as that would be nothing short of foolishness.

Almost two months passed on Bear Island, and the whispers of a new heir to House Mormont echoed through the halls of Bear Castle. The island's dense forests and icy shores bore witness to the anticipation that hung in the air

One crisp morning, Lady Maege Mormont, with her maidservants in tow, ascended the steps leading to the chamber where Lady Annara Mormont, Jorah's wife, was expected to give birth to their first child. Her water broke in the afternoon and so far, everything seems to be fine. The maidservants were well-prepared, armed with fresh linens, hot water, and soothing herbs.

As they reached the chamber door, Lady Maege could hear the muted cries of labour and the soothing voices of the midwives within. She exchanged a knowing glance with the maidservant at her side before pushing the heavy door open.

Inside, the chamber was awash in a soft, golden light filtering through the thick curtains. Lady Annara lay upon the birthing bed, her face contorted in pain, her auburn hair damp with perspiration. The midwives moved about with practised ease, their gentle reassurances a stark contrast to the agony that gripped Lady Annara.

"How long has it been?"

Jorah paced outside the chambers, a few maids surrounding him, while his wife was inside, delivering their first child.

"Calm down, Lord. There is nothing we can do to help the lady but wait patiently without burdening the poor midwives. The maester, the only man allowed outside the room advised Jorah.

Jorah finally acquiesced, forcing his ass into a chair outside the room as he anxiously awaited news from the midwives. The wait seemed interminable, stretching on for five to six hours, deep into the night of the hour of the nightingale.

The agonized cries and shouts coming from the room made Jorah feel helpless and impotent. He couldn't bear the thought of his wife in pain and he, sitting outside like a waste.

"Ahhhh! Ahhh!"

Then, finally, the room was filled with the cries of a newborn, and Jorah wasted no time in bolting into the room without a second thought.

"Ah! My lord, you should wait outside. The lady still needs to be cleaned. The room is in disarray," the midwife tried to protest, but Jorah paid no heed.

"That woman is my wife," Jorah retorted, his eyes locked onto his wife, who lay in a bed smeared with blood and other fluids, her legs raised from the birthing process. She was a mess. Maybe passed out from fatigue or simply devoid of all energy, his wife simply lay there almost in sleep.

"Where is the child?" Jorah inquired of the midwife.

"Congratulations, my lord. It's a healthy boy," the midwife announced, carefully swaddling the crying infant in a white sheet.

Jorah took the baby into his arms, gazing at the wailing bundle of joy.

"Shh... Don't cry, little bear. Papa Bear is here. "DA..DA.."

Jorah made goofy faces and soothing sounds, attempting to amuse the child.

"I will wait outside. Clean the lady thoroughly and let the baby feed for now," Jorah said, after spending a few minutes with the crying pup.

Outside the room, everyone awaited news of the birth. The announcement that a healthy boy, an heir to House Mormont, had been born was met with cheers from the women, who hurried back to the castle to spread the joyous tidings.

The arrival of a male heir was no small matter, and preparations were already underway to celebrate the occasion properly.

In the following days, Bear Castle buzzed with activity and jubilation. The birth of an heir to House Mormont was a rare and joyous occasion, one that demanded celebration befitting the House's proud heritage.

"Jorah, you should go down to the hall," Lady Annara who was feeding her firstborn spoke with a tender voice.

"I am not going until my wife is ready," Jorah replied stubbornly and combed his wife's hair. This kind of intimacy was not something Lady Annara ever expected from her husband or from any men in this life.

With small shining tears falling from her eyes, she fed the babe lovingly until the boy was asleep and began dressing. Jorah left the room for the maids and walked downstairs to the main hall.

The great hall was adorned with banners bearing the sigil of the bear, and tables were laid with hearty feasts of roasted meats, freshly baked bread, and a variety of vegetables gathered from the island's fertile lands. Barrels of mead and ale were rolled in, and the revelry commenced.

Jorah was welcomed with loud cheers and he exchanged cups of bead and fine wine with his men, clan chiefs, and lords who came surprisingly and with anyone and everyone who came. Thankfully, he only took a sip every time making sure, he wasn't drinking much and was sober for the celebration.

After Lady Annara came down with the help of her maids, the men stood up and wanted to shout or cry but Jorah just susshed them like a boy.

"No more noise, everyone holds their tongue now," Jorah commanded in a small whisper but the voice was carried to the ends of the hall and everyone heard it. Soon, the maid brought the baby boy and delivered it in the arms of Lady Annara.

"To the newest member of House Mormont, to our future, and to the strength of our family," Jorah declared, his voice filled with pride and love in a small whisper.

One by One, following Lord Glover, the men stood up silently and emptied their goblets and cups in a show of honour and celebration. The whole thing was in silence showing utmost care for the mother and baby.

Lady Annara didn't stay for long with the child and left the room to the men and soon it was again filled with loud music, cheers and dancing men.
