Chapter 10: Changes in Gotham
"Why didn't you and your son tell your story before and are telling it now?" asked Vicki Vale sceptically.
"Did the victims have the courage to talk about what they have suffered when crime lords were alive?" asked Ravindra slowly cleaning tears with hands.
Vicki Vale couldn't argue with those words. "You have already known we're from crime alley where our voices are suppressed by the crime lords.
The reason we have grown this much in the area is due to high luck my son had and if you think we had done any back door dealings or money laundering you can check our company reports and statements.
It might seem abnormal for our company to grow large without any illegal support but it is true that we had enormous luck." replied Ravindra.
"Are you okay with showing your company details to the public?" asked Vicki Vale.
"We want to show the public that we're not doing anything illegal. It's not like we're posting our confidential data to the public." said Ravindra.
"In two day we will be posting our company statements all over the years and the public can decide for themselves if we have done anything wrong." said Ravindra.
"I won't support the actions of the "Mystical Punisher" but I am greatful to him at a personal level to bring justice to my wife in his own way." said Ravindra.
"There are two announcements that I am going to make today. The company will be entering into Insurance and Banking sector. The reason for expanding into these domains is to put the financial situation of Gotham into right track.
Though it is impossible to do it alone but we're going to do our part in fighting the depression plaguing the city." said Ravindra.
Vishal smiled because this is his plan which he suggested to his father. He showed what is the difference between him and Bruce Wayne.
Bruce Wayne did not change the financial situation of the city which is one of the rampant cause of Poverty, corruption and crime.
Vishal concentrated on putting money into the hands of people in the form of jobs so that people can spend it and money circulated over the economy which will in turn lead to solving the problem of depression.
The people of Gotham were astonished by the statements made by the founder of "Amarnath Group of Industries". They were once again reminded the difference between the Wayne Enterprises and "Amarnath group of Industries".
While WE focused on donating money to charities, orphanages and other organizations which would eventually enter into hands of corrupt people AGI focused on employment generation and improving the overall financial situation.
Thomas Wayne had this same idea to improve Gotham but it went gutter after his murder.
It is an irony that someone else championed his cause instead of his son.
Ravindra looked at the camera and said "I wouldn't want what happened to my family happen to any other family in Gotham. It took a lot of time for me and my son to recover.
Even now he still feels the loss of his mother and sister. He doesn't cry in front of me but I know he cries when I am not present. We have a chance now to stir towards right direction."
The people could understand the inner meaning behind those words. To fight the crime you need to fight the main cause which is the financial crisis and poverty looming over Gotham.
"How could I miss this over all this years?" said Batman gritting his teeth. His solution of donations and charities were temporary solutions that did not yield lasting results.
He was so focused on what happened in his past that he was short sighted to see the major problem which is the financial situation of Gotham.
He remembered two words of "Mystical Punisher". "Stagnate and Aggravate".
The crisis has been looming over the city for too many years compared to other cities which recovered from crisis. He thought the underlying cause was crime.
He is partially right that one of the cause is rampant crime but that is not the only thing. People turn to crime because they don't have place to live, less economic capacity and lack of food.
These can be solved temporarily through donations through organizations but if the system is corrupt then the problem will not only will be unsolved but it will worsen over time.
The only way to improve the situation is by providing basic needs and jobs which he and his company neglected while AGI focused on it.
"Fighting against the crime is the duty of every Gotham citizen so is the duty of every Gotham citizen to improve the lives of themselves and their families." said Ravindra.
Gordon and Batman took in the words and looked back over the years to see how everything is different after AGI came.
Red Hood watched the interview and wished good luck for the father and son duo in changing the situation of the city so that people won't have to resolve to stealing tyres for money.
" I thank Ms Vicki Vale for the interview to express what my family has gone through to the public." said Ravindra.
"There you go people. I hope the changes happening in Gotham would last for a long time and with that Vicki Vale signing off."
The people all over the nation were rooting for AGI to bring changes in Gotham. Slowly the people who have suffered from crime took courage and shared their stories in social media.
Millions of posts accumulated detailing their experiences and president was keeping eye on the posts. He knew he had to act now to save face otherwise in next elections there will be a crushing defeat.
"Call Amanda Waller for a meeting." said president to the secretary.
"The problem called "Mystical Punisher" need to be put down early because if he begins his purge in other cities then his position and party has no means of survival." president said to himself.
As told before AGI released the statements and other documents all over the years and only kept confidential documents away from the eyes of public.
The public saw the statements and also saw the tax paid according to the profits earned. There was not even an inch of evidence to prove they are corrupt and their popularity skyrocketed while stocks of WE dropped for negligently donating funds to GCPD without examining the facts.
The next week Amarnath Insurance Corporation and Amarnath Bank Pvt Ltd were opened and posted huge amount of jobs for public.
The people rushed to apply for jobs not only to these two but other comapnies under Amarnath group.
The expansion took them into areas of Upper West Side and City hall district. The people have started returning to their lives but the streets have become peaceful as the security company under AGI did patrols while GCPD is shorthanded and enquiry is being done on Gordon.
