Chapter 9: Chapter 9: Attack
Adam made sure that his research team completed an antidote for the serum used on the widows to mind control them before making further arrangements, he didn't have to wait long before they were able to crack the serum completely.
Not only were they able to create an antidote, they created an immunization to chemical mind control as well. Adam made sure that all soldiers who would perform missions must receive the immunization before leaving for the planet. He wasn't going to take any risks.
Once he had the antidote, and plenty of it. He planned his next mission, using the drone scanners he had sent to monitor Earth, he created a 3d simulation of the facility and did a walk thru. Running multiple scenarios to ensure he had no mistakes, being over confident has lost many battles and Adam wasn't going to think his armor made him invincible.
He knew invincibility came from the mind, ants with a plan can take down an elephant.
Preparation, determination and creativity wins the battle even under insurmountable odds. You have to expect and plan for the unexpected, every action a well coordinated machine. Since he would be going alone to meet the incomplete and unofficial Avengers to reduce misunderstandings from arising, it wasn't his own people he didn't trust not to get trigger happy but any SHIELD agent that may accompany the Avengers.
Adam knew SHIELD was HYDRA from the very beginning of its creation. Peggy Carter, Nick Fury and Steve Rogers all had unknowingly been working for their sworn enemies, something which when they found out this truth had been mental blows to Fury and Steve. Peggy Carter died of old age before the truth was found out.
This was Adams in with the Avengers, Peggy Carter. He can easily resolve any disease or disability easily with the medical knowledge aboard the Infinity. The UNSC had access to many genetic enhancements and technology, super soldier, de-ageing, genetic correction all this was easy for them.
He wasn't going to hand the serum over, he was going to inject Peggy with a customized concoction of the UNSC Super Soldier serum that is standard for all UNSC personnel and a potent de-ageing serum that will bring her back to her mid 20's. He knew as long as they didn't get the serum itself they wouldn't be able to replicate it since the serum was designed to initiate the cell changes then disappear.
The UNSC didn't want their enemies to be able to replicate their serums or genetic modifications using the blood of fallen soldiers, so the serum was just the catalyst for cellular change and as the change occurred the serum was absorbed into the cells itself matching the DNA after the changes are fully completed.
After everything was planned and bait sent to Fury on the Red Room, Eve had slipped this information into a report being sent on the data decryption of a burnt hard drive found in an office at one of the bases Adam had hit previously. Rather than saying it was the Red Room the information only stated that the base had been supplied for an extended period of time with weapons and medical supplies regularly.
This time it wouldn't take as long since Adam would be going alone. Rather than take the cargo ship again like the first time, he had his eye on the beautiful and sleek C718 Longsword.
The C718 Longsword is a cutting-edge stealth fighter with a triangular shape much like all the Longsword variants however, it had two additional engines giving it a total of six. Designed as an all around multipurpose platform, its sleek hard edges made it look like an arrow head with four large ram air intakes at either side a few feet from the tip.
Usually it required a minimum of four crew members being assisted with a Dumb AI, since Eve had connected to the ship she could fully operate it without anyone. Not only was it stealthy sensor and visual wise, it was also very heavily armed. A single 110-mm autocannon, four 50-mm coilguns, four Automatic Self-Guided Missile-15 or ASGM-15 'Shield-Buster' missiles, eighty various bombs, as well as a Shiva-class nuclear missile. It also was equipped with a Moray space mine system.
After assigning goals for the various departments as well as setting up training exercises for combat soldiers in a simulation of the upcoming Invasion of New York to practice for the real thing, this way he can mop the floor with the Chitauri with his forces while keeping collateral damage to a minimum. He didn't want to be stuck with too large a bill. Adam left aboard the C718 after arranging everything needed to accomplish his goals.
Adam sat in the familiar cockpit and punched it once he had gotten a safe distance from the Infinity. He activated the stealth and raced across Saturn to use its gravity to sling-shot him to Earth. This would allow him to cut the trip to only an hour.
Arriving on the high-tech Red Room Academy aerial facility that floated above the skies of Russia without being detected was childs play for the C718. Rather than land right away Adam used the scans he had done to place large aerosol canisters inside the air intakes for the whole facility. This way the antidote will be dispersed throughout the entire facility freeing everyone under mind control.
Adam didn't use the jet pack to fly since it would produce a heat signature, so he used his own flight abilities using his bio-electric field to stealthily set up various explosive charges that could be used to distract or attack as well as others to completely destroy the facility. As he was setting an explosive charge on the last turbine engine Eve spoke while displaying a video on his HUD.
"Adam, there is incoming. It looks like they took the bait. Your friends are here, however I am only detecting three life signatures aboard the ship."
Using his telescopic and x-ray vision Adam looked towards the incoming Quinjet and found Natasha Romanoff, Captain America and Tony Stark aboard the ship.
"Well shit, the playboy came. I was hoping he would've sat this one out. Should've guessed he wouldn't sit out an attack on a suspected high-tech HYDRA base. Wonder if he will be pissed when he learns he defeated a part of HYDRA's enemies, oh that should be interesting. Keep visual camouflage active, I'm going to follow behind using my own flight." Adam commanded as he watched the Quinjet approach.
Then he heard the Red Room Academy begin to sound the alarms since the Quinjet wasn't as stealthy as his own ship. Suddenly multiple hatches opened and automated turrets began to lift out of the multiple openings.
They all target the Quinjet and open fire, this had forced Natasha to take evasive maneuvers to avoid having their ride home destroyed.
Within the ship Steve could be seen holding on tight to keep steady as he shouted to Tony who was heading to the back to open the Quinjet's rear hatch, "Tony wait, we need a plan before we jump into this." Steve shouted to try to keep everyone together.
Tony hit the button causing the tail hatch to begin opening revealing the frozen tundra below. "I do have a plan Cap. Attack." Tony answered after looking back at Steve as he took off from the rear of the Quinjet and began taking out the turrets.
Steve couldn't help but shake his head, "Why do I get the feeling he doesn't like me?"
Natasha called behind as she performed a barrel roll to avoid two missiles, "It's not just you, Tony is just going thru some stuff. I'm sure once he settles down a bit he will grow on you, maybe."
After Tony took off, he was able to get a better view of the aerial facility. Seeing a group of landing pads, Tony began clearing out the guns to give Natasha a safe area to land.
"Agent Romanoff, I found you a landing pad. I will have the guns resolved shortly so you should be able to land her there." Tony radioed over to the others as he locked onto various targets causing his shoulder pads to open showing small missile spore launchers, 64 mini missiles launched all at once knocking all but a few of the turrets left out of commission.
With just about all the facilities external defenses taken out by Ironman, Natasha was able to land the jet smoothly and safely down on the helipad.
After landing Natasha and Steve exit the Quinjet, Natasha was in her black leather suit while Steve was in his uniform shield at the ready. However shortly after leaving a guard had pulled a manual latch which detached the landing platform the Quinjet was on.
"Well, guess you two will need to find a new ride." Tony said as the two stared daggers at him for suggesting landing at that location.
They made their way thru the installation fighting off heavily armed guards, none of them were widows which really confused Adam until he began using his x-ray vision to see that Dreykov had a trap set using all the widows he had aboard the facility.
Adam knew one of those widows was Yalena, Natasha's younger adoptive sister and the new Black Widow for the Red Room after Natasha left. This was who Adam was mainly after.
He knew if he recruited her, many of the widows would follow her, unlike Natasha, Yalena was a natural leader and had gained a large following of widows to fight Dreykov when she eventually broke the mind control. Adam was just speeding things along by several years or so.
Doing this would save many lives that were taken by Dreykov between now and when Natasha and her family reunite and take down the facility. Unfortunately their mother wasn't on the ship as well cause she was a brilliant scientist Adam wouldn't mind stealing.
Seeing where the ambush was set for, Adam decided to make some preparations to drop in uninvited to save the day. Flying back out and locating where Dreykov's office was located, Adam set up above the office and waited and observed.
Adam didn't have to wait long since the three Avengers were able to make quick work of the security forces.
However as soon they found the office, to Natasha's shock and horror 20 widows including her own sister attacked. Unlike the previous security forces, the widows were highly trained killers with impeccable teamwork capabilities since they were trained in groups.
Even Tony began having it rough, although he himself wasn't getting injured he was losing ground and heavily restricted. Without realizing it Yalena had slipped in behind him and stuck an electronic signal jammer onto the base of the back of Tony's helmet and activated it.
This sent an electrical current directly into the Ironman suit and began interfering with the various systems within, this had temporarily taken Tony out of the fight as he and Jarvis looked for a way to fix the issue.
Seeing the fight begin to turn in the widows favor since once Tony was taken out of the fight, even though it would be for only a few minutes before he is able to resolve the issue, it was enough time to deal with the other two. Dreykov planned to use the mind control drug on all three heroes, not only would he have back his best Black Widow agent but he would have both Captain America and Tony Stark under his command.
He could use Tony's brain and money while having a world class soldier and an elite spy assassin, all his financial troubles would be gone and he can regain the power to take revenge on HYDRA for them making a fool of him by stealing a copy of his mind control drug.
Once Dreykov felt the time was right, came out of his hiding place and like most villains across the multiverse began a victory speech before actually completing the victory..
"I want to thank you, my beautiful Natasha, for bringing me not only THE Captain America but Ironman as well. Don't worry about your sister she is fine, you will be joining her soon. Once I have put the three of you under my control the world will know Leviathan is the king!" Dreykov laughed as he relished in his apparent victory. Only to be cut short by a blast from Tony's chest beam. Dreykov was thrown towards his desk from the blast, Tony ignored him and began using non lethal rounds since he knew Natasha had a connection to these women, plus he now knew they were under mind control which made him both angered and a tiny bit jealous.
Although he was a well known playboy, it was always consensual and he used his own charms to gain that consent. Just as the three were able to regroup, Dreykov was seen entering a panic room of some sort behind the desk while another figure walked out from the panic room as he ran in.
Upon seeing this figure Steve's eyes went wide in shock as did Natasha's, this figure wore a white cowl with a skull mask and a blue body suit.
