Chapter 24: Hatsume Mei
It was a very normal day in the support course, Izuku was lying on her desk bored having nothing to do, Power Loader walked into the class, giving his usual greetings before announcing the arrival of the new student. Izuku's eyes lit up with excitement—a new student meant potential new friends and partners in crime.
As Power Loader introduced Mei, the class couldn't help but notice her eccentric appearance. It was clear that she shared Izuku's passion for creation, which made the rest of the students visibly concerned about what might unfold with two like-minded individuals in the same class. They exchanged nervous glances, anticipating the chaos that might ensue.
After Power Loader finished his lecture, Izuku made her way towards Mei, a wide smile on her face. Mei, holding a screwdriver and fixing a machine, returned the smile and introduced herself once again. Izuku couldn't contain her curiosity and asked Mei about the contraption she was working on. Mei explained that it was a wire arrow—equipment that combined a wire with an arrow-like grappling hook. They delved into a spirited discussion about its functionality and potential uses.
As their conversation grew more animated, the volume of their voices increased. They began brainstorming other creation ideas and sharing their excitement with each passing moment. The rest of the class watched in a mix of awe and concern, realizing that once these two got together, there was no stopping them. Power Loader entered the room, his face falling as he observed the class that was on the verge of crying. He saw Izuku and Mei engrossed in conversation and understood why his class looked like that, he muttered under his breath, "They hit it off... we are doomed."
Indeed, Izuku and Mei had struck a connection. Their discussions moved on to planning a collaborative project, fueling their shared enthusiasm and sparking countless creative ideas.
Meanwhile, Katsuki sat in his class, growing increasingly restless. He glanced at the door repeatedly, waiting for Izuku to burst in as she often did. Class 1-A also found their attention drifting to the door, sensing that something was amiss. Even Aizawa couldn't help but steal a few glances, feeling the absence of his explosive student.
Various students in Class 1-A offered their theories as to why Izuku wasn't present. Mina suggested that Izuku got caught up in one of her crazy experiments, while Sero speculated that she might have fallen into a portal to another dimension, Kaminari guessed that Mr Boomie finally died and Izuku was trying to fix him, Ochaco jokingly proposed that Izuku was on a secret mission to save the world. The speculations flew back and forth, each more outlandish than the last.
Finally, the lunch break bell rang, and Katsuki couldn't take it any longer. He stood up, determined to find out what was going on with Izuku. His friends, sensing his concern, followed him swiftly to the support course classroom. As he opened the door, relief washed over him as he saw Izuku sitting and chatting happily with a girl he didn't recognize. He approached Izuku and gently said, "Izu, come on, it's time for lunch."
Izuku snapped out of her conversation and looked apologetic as she responded, "Sorry, Kat! You can eat without me today. I promised Mei-chan to eat with her." Katsuki paused for a moment, his eyes finally landing on the girl beside Izuku. There was something about her that made him feel a sense of unease.
The girl smiled warmly and introduced herself, "Hi! It's nice to meet you! I'm Hatsume Mei! Izu-chan has talked about you a lot!" Katsuki couldn't shake the feeling that this girl might become his new enemy.
Katsuki's friends, noticing the murderous look in his eyes, quickly intervened and began dragging him away. Izuku and Mei, momentarily puzzled, shrugged off the tension and continued their lively conversation.
