Chapter 18: Central Mainland Continent

"Chen'er, you're getting better at cooking…"

Fang An smiled broadly as he saw the breakfast Xiao Chen made, using the simple ingredients at hand, Xiao Chen made dishes that were full of flavor and delicious. Indeed as far as Fang An could see, the kitchen was Xiao Chen's second favorite place to spend his time.

"Master is praising too much…" Xiao Chen smiled widely, he really wanted Fang An to be able to enjoy more good food while in the sect. Xiao Chen knew that Fang An was very simple in many ways including food, so he didn't enjoy life well all his life.

"Chen'er there is something master wants to tell you, it seems that your practice really has to be postponed…"

After breakfast Fang An explained that he would be leaving the Valley of the Hundred Swords in two days for the Capital and be there for some time. Fang An did not explain that it was related to the struggle for the throne between the princes because he thought that Xiao Chen could not understand it yet.

Fang An then also explained about the land they lived in, "This world we live in is known as the Central Mainland Continent, there are three empires and seven countries that share the continent…"

Fang An explained that every Empire and Country had their own policies and rules, some were the same and some were different. The existence of government aims to ensure that the people who live in it get a good and orderly life.

The Three Empires controlled most of the landmass, while the seven countries had a much smaller area than each empire but still held great power when compared to a sect.

The three empires were the Tang Empire, Han Empire and Wei Empire. The Valley of the Hundred Swords itself is located in the Han Empire, which is the smallest of the three empires.

The martial world of every Empire and Country also stands on its own, but the martial world is never separated from the government, especially those who come from the white flow.

The white sects always support the government where they exist because these sects also need the military strength of the local government to survive. The martial arts world in any Empire and Country has something in common, that is, at least 70% of the martial world members belong to black or heretical sects. It can't be controlled if basically when humans have great power they want to prioritize their personal desires.

"Master will leave some items that will help you strengthen your body…" Fang An then took out several small wooden boxes as well as a piece of paper, "You should consume them according to this note."

Xiao Chen was a little surprised, all that Fang An gave him were precious herbs and medicines. Even though the properties of these items are far less than Water Ginseng, they are still of great value to many warriors, especially when used on a 6 year old child like him.

"Senior Lin's three pills are still being kept by master because it isn't time for you to consume them yet, they will be useful when you start cultivating inner strength." Fang An's message.

Fang An thought it was better to give the resources that helped Xiao Chen's physical development and stamina first. Actually this action of Fang An worried Xiao Chen.

"In his previous life Master Fang always lived a simple life because all his earnings from completing missions as well as his family's inheritance he used to treat his internal injuries… To obtain all of this, he must have used his own medical expenses." Xiao Chen was so touched by Fang An's action that he wanted to tell Fang An that he had a lot of Water Ginseng.

If Xiao Chen could sell the Water Ginseng he had, Fang An would no longer have to worry about medical expenses and might even be able to buy the medicine that had the effect of completely healing Fang An's internal injuries.

"Why are you crying Chen'er?" Fang An was startled when he saw Xiao Chen start to shed tears.

"This disciples will not disappoint Master…" Xiao Chen bowed to Fang An before accepting all the boxes.

"No need to feel that way, all these resources are nothing special." Fang An smiled gently, feeling proud that his disciple was so filial.

Xiao Chen did not answer Fang An, he only resolved in his heart, "Master Fang, I hope master can be patient for a few more years. Disciple promises to definitely heal Master completely." Xiao Chen only dared to open up more after having enough ability to protect himself.

Xiao Chen also reminded Fang An to be careful while he was there.

"I'm only going to be gone for a while, with the Sect Master around, I'm practically just taking a look." Fang An chuckled before explaining Jiang Kun was a very powerful being, a hundred people like Fang An were no match for Jiang Kun so there was nothing for Xiao Chen to worry about.

Xiao Chen knew that this was not entirely true, the struggle for the throne between the princes of the Han Empire this time was different from usual because one of the princes who wanted to become Emperor had the backing of the black sect.

As far back as Xiao Chen could remember, Emperor Han had invited four Sect Masters like Jiang Kun to stop the prince's ambitions. Jiang Kun will stay in the Capital for three years until a new Emperor is elected from one of the princes other than the prince who conspires with the black cult.

Jiang Kun brought ten Sword Elders with him who would switch places every few months. Over the next three years all important decisions of the Valley of the Hundred Swords fell into Wang Ergou's hands, that's why Xiao Chen was very careful and hid his talent considering that Wang Ergou always made things difficult for Fang An.

"If nothing changes then I have something to prepare for something that will happen in a few months time…" Xiao Chen started to think about his training to get stronger as soon as possible.

Fang An spent the next two days with more rest while telling Xiao Chen many things about the martial world. It was clear that Fang An hoped that his story would increase Xiao Chen's desire to learn martial arts.

"You! How did you get here?!"

On the day of departure, Jiang Kun came to Bamboo Sword Villa to pick up Fang An. Jiang Kun didn't expect to see Xiao Chen sweeping the courtyard. Xiao Chen was equally shocked to see Jiang Kun, he rushed over to Jiang Kun.

"Sect Master, Please don't tell Master Fang about our previous meeting…" Xiao Chen made a pitiful face.

Fang An was still packing his things so he didn't know Jiang Kun's reaction when he saw Xiao Chen.

Jiang Kun actually had a lot to say to Xiao Chen, but seeing that Xiao Chen belonged to the Valley of the Hundred Swords and even became the disciple of the most talented person in the history of the sect, Jiang Kun felt that he could accept Xiao Chen's request for the time being.

"Young man, you owe me an explanation the next time I return from the Capital." Jiang Kun said as he pinched Xiao Chen's cheek lightly.

Xiao Chen only smiled awkwardly, Jiang Kun obviously didn't realize that this journey of his would span three whole years.
