Chapter 9: Chapter 9 :

Isaac arrived at his school, which he hadn't seen for two weeks; he'd changed a lot since then, and he wasn't at all the weakling he used to be.

Trying to retract his aura as much as possible so as not to attract attention, he entered the school hall under the curious gaze of a few of his classmates.

The hall's high ceilings gave an impression of spaciousness, and the walls were adorned with large windows that let in natural light, bathing the place in a warm ambience.

The principal then made his entrance, climbing onto the balustrade in front of the crowd of students.

In a stentorian voice, he began his speech:

"Today is perhaps the most important day of your existence. It's today that you may gain access to a prestigious university, gaining access to many of the resources you need to become powerful."

The students whispered among themselves for a few moments, Isaac feeling the excitement overtake their bodies.

"You'll be divided by class and installed in virtual reality booths. You'll face increasingly powerful monsters. Your goal is simple: to defeat them. Spare no drop of stamina and power. Good luck to you all."

With that, he stepped down from the railing and the class teachers took over.

Each class went to a different room, and Isaac was no exception.

He arrived at a room where a row of cabins were lined up.

The cabin exterior was made of a smooth, shiny material with clean, modern lines. Illuminated panels surrounded the entrance, diffusing a soft glow that added to the bewitching atmosphere. A transparent sliding door opened silently, inviting users to enter.

"Right, everyone into a cabin, when the door closes the test will begin, be on your guard and all will go well," reassured the head teacher.

The students looked at each other nervously, and a young man named Max from Isaac's recollection was the first to pluck up courage and enter a cabin under the admiring gazes of the others.

"As expected of the class rep."

"Yes! He's our best element, if there's anyone capable in this class, it's him"

The other students then followed suit, entering their cabins in turn.

Isaac did the same, the sliding door closed and he put a breathing mask over his mouth and nose. A liquid began to fill the cabin and Isaac felt his vision blur.

"Let the test begin," he sighed.

Darkness cut off his vision for a few moments before he realized he was in a huge arena.

The immense arena stretched out before him, a silent colossus in the middle of an ocean of solitude. The empty bleachers rose up in concentric circles, like absent spectators who could no longer bear witness to the grandiose events that once took place there.

The walls, mute witnesses to past glories, bore rough stones and delicately carved reliefs, telling the story of epic battles and forgotten triumphs. Majestic arches stood proudly, but their shadows now seemed to float in a heavy silence.

The arena floor, devoid of life, was immaculate perfection. Every footstep sounded like a muffled wail, recalling the echoes of once jubilant crowds. In the center, the clear circular space was frozen, waiting in vain for the artists' confident steps and majestic gestures.

The arena remained a solemn monument, a silent witness to a glorious past, waiting for the actors of this forgotten theater to rise again and revive its essence, bringing emotion and life back to its forsaken walls.

"Truly realistic for a virtual reality," Isaac gasped.

Suddenly, a heavy, savage growl echoed through the arena.

Isaac turned quickly to find a huge gate in front of him.

Behind the massive gate, the monster waited with palpable impatience. Its flaming eyes shone with a malevolent gleam, while its scaly skin revealed dark, unhealthy shades. The powerful muscles of its silhouette were taut, ready to unleash themselves as soon as the gate was raised.

The monster emitted dull, menacing growls, a guttural sound that shook the air. Each breath was a hoarse gasp, charged with savage energy and restrained rage. Its sharp claws scratched the ground impatiently, announcing the imminent violence that was about to be unleashed.

His sharp, pointed fangs gleamed sinisterly, ready to tear and devour anything that crossed his path. The viscous slobber dripping from its mouth bore witness to its voracious appetite and thirst for destruction.

The monster stared intently at the gate, his eyes never leaving the barrier that separated him from the outside world. He was hungry for freedom, eager to taste the prey that lay beyond this iron prison. His muscles contracted in anticipation, ready to throw themselves into a frenzy of unleashed violence.

Each passing second seemed like an eternity to the monster, increasing his burning desire to break free from his imaginary chains. The tension in the air was palpable, an aura of danger emanating from him, filling the space with the electric excitement of imminence.

Finally, the long-awaited moment arrived. The gate slowly lifted, revealing the opening to the freedom so longed for. A savage roar escaped from the monster's throat, mixing fury with satisfaction. It rushed forward with indomitable ferocity, ready to devour the world in a destructive dance.

Unimpressed by this display of savagery, Issac quickly deployed [Pair of Paws] and charged the monster like a missile.

He closed the distance in no time, and before the monster could react, the paws on his back dismembered him.

The once savage monster was now a mess of flesh and blood on the ground.

"So weak," said Isaac, looking away.

A counter appeared in the air above Isaac, now reading 1.

The monster's body, or at least what was left of it, vanished in a trail of light.

"AHAHAH here's spicing things up a bit!

A new growl sounded in the arena.

Isaac turned around, in fighting stance he stared at the grid as it rose again.

"Fighting is my source of power, and I have an immense thirst for power."
