Chapter 2: PETE
"What's wrong with him?"I muttered under my breath to no one in particular but Mark happened to hear me and was quick to respond. "Well,He's angry because in class you sort of contradicted what he said in the ethics lesson just after he spoke."Shit!!I had messed up again.Pete and i are already having problems and if we keep fighting he might leave me for another girl. "Mark, I have to talk to him,"I told my bestie as i rushed towards the direction Pete had gone.
Pete is basically the hottest guy in our campus,and he happens to be the basketball team captain. I saw him and i could'nt help but feel lucky.He is a blond haired guy with a well built body and the most handsome face i've ever seen.He looks just like those male models on tv.What i love most about him are his teeth though.He has the most amazing set of teeth ive ever seen.White and well arranged.He was already with his group of friends,mostly his team mates and i saw him frown when i walked towards him."Courage,courage,you have to fix this,"I muttered to myself as i went over to him.
"Hey,can we talk?"I said to him while looking at him with hopeful eyes when i got to where he was.Everyone's attention was already on us because everything Pete did seemed interesting to them."Talk.""In Private."I answered back.I loved Pete but i couldnt stand how proud and childish he was."When you chose to embarass me in class was it in private?"He answered while pouting.I could hear gasps and murmurs around us and i guess he could too because of the smug look he had.I felt a lump on my throat."Calm down,youve got to be the bigger person.Why does he have to be such an a**hole though?"i thought to myself.I knew how irrational he could get when he was angry so i decided to take the high road.
"I'm so sorry babe i didn't mean to hurt your feelings.I wasn't paying attention when Mrs Maina asked me the question so i just said whatever came to mind.Can we please solve this in private?"I said while looking at him hopefully.I loved him and i just wanted our fight to be over.I saw Mark looking at us angrily from a distance but nevertheless respected my boundaries.I knew i was going to get a scolding from him later."He is going to scold me for simping,but i'd rather do that than be utterly alone,"i thought to myself."You weren't paying attention?I wonder what daddy's likkle princess was thinking about.How much money she has to spend maybe?Or was it your next visit to the doctor?You look fine anyway.Bet its just an excuse to skip school.What princess wants princess gets...isn't that right?"Pete scoffed in a sarcastic tone.
The lump in my throat grew bigger as i heard him and i couldn't hold back my tears anymore.I ran out of there before i could humiliate myself farther.He had no right to humiliate me like that.Why did he have to make it seem like i'm a spoiled brat?Why did he have to be so mean to me when i clearly apologized infront of all those people."I can't take it anymore.His smugness and childish behaviour is too much."I thought. Why mention my illness and call it a joke though?Just to hurt me?It was no secret that i was suffering from sickle cells anaemia since i was little and i spent most of my days in the hospital.He had no idea of the pain i felt whenever i got sick,how much it hurt.Rubbing that in was way too low even for Him!"Maybe its better to be alone than with someone who makes you feel worse than being alone."I thought as i ran in tears.I could hear Pete running after me and calling out to me but i didn't care.I just wanted to go home.Thankfully,my chauffeur had already come to pick me up so i entered the car and asked him to drive,which he did,Leaving Pete wide eyed at the parking lot.
