Chapter 1: Childhood

The Kingdom of Clover

Year 509 of the Silvamillion calendar.

Hage Village

In the middle of the afternoon, a boy of about five years old lay on the grassy plain. Lying was not the right word: he was squirming and grimacing. It was obvious that he was uncomfortable, but he lay there, and there was no hint that he was going to get up. The boy's name is Aiden and there are many stories to tell about him, but first I must explain why he acted the way he did. The reason was post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Which he developed in a past life during a fire in which he died. And now he's struggling to overcome his illness. He can't think of anything else to do but face it head-on.

[Pov: Aiden].

It's been five years since my rebirth. And in those five years, I have grown to love this world more than the previous one. After all, while in the previous world a person could die from a simple blow, in this one they can break entire buildings. I had always dreamed of something like this, a world of magic, of being the strongest. But God, as if laughing at me and knowing I was afraid of fire, gave me fire magic. Of course, I would still get rid of the disease, but now I would have to work several times harder.

Lying in the sun, I practiced my magical sense and control of magic. This had been going on for months now, and the progress, though small, was showing. The first time I used magic I almost passed out, but now I could use magic at least a little bit.

- Aiden - I heard a scream.

That scream belonged to Priest Orsi, who was my foster father. In the five years I lived with him, he had already managed to become a real father figure to me. Although he is vain and overly dramatic, he is truly a kind and hardworking man.

I reflexively raised my head and looked in his direction. From where I was lying, Father Orsi was perfectly visible. He was waving at me, and two baskets stood beside him. I rushed toward him and almost fell over with impatience, for I had already guessed what was in the baskets. And I was not mistaken: in each basket lay a baby. Babies who would become the strongest of this world in the future. But now they were just babies.

Looking at them reminded me of my younger brother. He was incredibly energetic. The complete opposite of me. I'm a very lazy person, but when I find something interesting, my laziness disappears. While I was in the clouds, Father Orsi was already carrying them to the orphanage church. There was nothing I could do to help. Once inside, I watched him inspect them and couldn't help but notice their identical clothes and basket.

But the bishop's voice interrupted my further thoughts:

- "These two boys, are they not twins?" - he asked himself; "No, they are too different," and immediately refuted himself.

Ignoring him, I thought about their peculiarities: one was a royal prince, the other had no mana at all, and how they ended up here together. But thinking about that was useless right now.

While I was pondering, my father was examining the babies, talking to himself. He noticed their names embroidered on their clothes.

- Aiden," he looked at me, "remember, these are your two younger brothers: this one," he pointed to the black-haired, quieter one, "is called Juno, and this one," he pointed to the ashy-haired and much more active one, "is called Asta.

From that point on, I took an active part in their lives, watching them and playing with them. And I never stopped practicing. I wanted training to be a part of my life. I mostly trained in magic, though I had no other options. I needed to grow to train my body, I also wanted to train in fencing, but there were no fencers here. But who was stopping me from picking up a stick and just waving it around.

My daily routine is basically this: I get up early in the morning, train for a few hours, then do chores, and sit with Asta and Yuno for the rest of the day.
