Chapter 145: Chapter 146: How High Can Rainfall and Still Kill People

"I'm very sorry." Tony Stark knew from the Hulk's expression that things were not looking good.

In the next moment, Tony Stark was launched out like a meteor shooting from the ground to the sky. Of course, he didn't fly on his own; he was propelled by the Hulk.

Boom!

Mid-air, while being propelled, Tony Stark's boots released energy to stabilize his position.

At the same time, the Hulk jumped over, and the two engaged in another intense battle in the sky, destroying countless offices in a building.

This time, Tony Stark fared worse, and his armor was nearly falling apart from the Hulk's relentless attacks.

The floating metal lump above them shot out a small piece of metal to repair the armor, but before it could get close, the Hulk, who was riding on Tony Stark's back, swung a punch and sent it flying.

Tony Stark once again used one of his armored arms to grab the Hulk's hand. He noticed a nearby building under construction that seemed empty.

"How much would it cost to buy this building?" Tony Stark asked Jarvis, but he didn't get a chance to wait for Jarvis' response. He flew with the Hulk to the top of the building under construction and then threw the Hulk down.

And he followed suit, flying down with his body acting as a propeller, propelling the Hulk downwards.

Ping, pong, bang!

The building collapsed at an astonishing speed. In just a matter of seconds, what was once a several-story tall building became a pile of ruins.

Who else could match this level of destruction other than a Husky? Earlier, Tony Stark had joked about having 1000 Huskies fighting the Hulk, but that was nothing; it would take at least 1001 Huskies to match this level of chaos!

The commotion caused by this battle was tremendous. People on the streets were fleeing, and the dust from the collapsing building gave the scene an apocalyptic feel.

"Hurry, hurry!"

Armored vehicles rushed in, and soldiers armed to the teeth arrived at the scene.

Crash!

A pile of debris was blasted away, and the Hulk's massive form was revealed. He roared twice, and everyone in front of him began fleeing.

The Hulk looked a little confused, and Tony Stark seized this opportunity to land a punch on his head, sending the Hulk flying back.

The screen went dark, and the video ended.

"Maybe I shouldn't have come," Bruce Banner said with a heavy heart. "Perhaps, I should have hidden in the deep mountains and forests and lived out my life there. That would have been the right choice."

"Dr. Banner, we have the Clear Mind wristbands; the scenes in the video won't happen," Steve Rogers said. "Loki, Ultron, Thanos, Hela—we have too many powerful enemies. We need you, and Earth needs you."

"Those people," Bruce Banner pointed to the place where the video had just played. "Those people I hurt, I'm pretty sure they don't need me."

"Dr. Banner, we have the Clear Mind wristbands, and we also have magic immunity potions," Thor added. "That kind of situation won't happen again."

"Thor, Captain, how can you guarantee that?" Bruce Banner asked in response. "Stark can't be by my side all the time. From the moment I transform to when he notices and arrives at the scene to make me clear-minded, it takes time. Even if this time is short, the Hulk could still harm people. Even just one second could lead to a lot of casualties!"

"Dr. Banner, Loki, Thanos, Ultron, and Hela—if we don't stop them, the consequences won't be just a few casualties," T'Challa said. "It will be the extinction of all humanity on Earth!"

"That's right, but it won't be me causing their extinction; I'm not the executioner," Bruce Banner said. "But when the Hulk hurts people, even if it's just one person, that's my sin."

"This way, Dr. Banner, after we go out, let's conduct an experiment," Tony Stark said. "The requirement for the Clear Mind wristband is to wear it on the wrist, but it doesn't necessarily have to be worn on a living person's wrist. I'll see if it works when worn on the armor's wrist."

"Is that possible?" Bruce Banner expressed doubt.

"We have to try," Tony Stark replied. "If it works, I'll specifically develop a set of 'Shoutout Armor,' just like Veronica in the video, launching it to low altitude and setting it to follow your movements. Once you transform, it will immediately launch the Shoutout Armor."

"Alright, I'll research it right after we go out," Bruce Banner agreed.

[Question nine begins. Please prepare.]

[Please watch the following video first.]

In the video, Darcy Lewis stood there, with several police cars parked nearby.

Then, Jane Foster ran over from the side.

"Jane, where have you been?" Darcy Lewis ran towards Jane Foster.

"You didn't call the police, did you?" Jane Foster asked.

"What else can I do?" Darcy Lewis said.

"Just don't call them," Jane Foster replied.

"I'm going crazy," Darcy Lewis said.

Drip, drip, drip!

At this moment, it started to rain.

But strangely, the rain only fell around them and didn't land on Darcy Lewis and Jane Foster. They were clearly standing in an open area, but the rain seemed to avoid them completely, which was extremely bizarre.

"Thor's girlfriend is encountering something strange again," Tony Stark couldn't help commenting.

"It's really weird. Everyone else has water above their heads, but they don't," James Rhodes said.

"Do you want her to have water? It's simple," Tony Stark glanced at Thor. "Just let Thor do something about it."

"Do you think I can do that?" Thor looked surprised, as if he had never demonstrated the ability to control rainfall.

"Isn't it something you can do with your hands?" Tony Stark said.

"Something you can do with your hands?" Thor sneered, "Why don't you try doing it then?"

"Thor, your woman, if you want her to have water, do it yourself," Tony Stark said.

"I'm not doing it either," Thor said, "Don't keep saying 'my woman,' 'my girlfriend.' It has nothing to do with me; I don't know her well."

"Are you two really talking about the same thing?" James Rhodes couldn't help asking after listening for a while.

In the video, Darcy Lewis and Jane Foster still hadn't noticed the abnormality of the rain and continued talking.

"If you call the police, they will notify S.H.I.E.L.D., and then S.H.I.E.L.D. will descend from the sky," Jane Foster said, "turning this place into Area 51."

"Jane!" Darcy Lewis called out.

"We've found a stable gravity anomaly that we can study freely," Jane Foster said. "Our only competitors are a group of ten-year-old kids."

"Jane, you've been missing for five hours!" Darcy Lewis said.

"What?" Jane Foster was stunned.

At this moment, a faint thunder rumbled in the sky. Jane Foster turned her head to look around and finally noticed the peculiar phenomenon of no rain falling on their heads while everywhere else was raining.

Then, Jane Foster saw a familiar figure.

The person had golden hair, held a hammer, and a red cape fluttered in the wind. Who else could it be but the Thunder God, Thor?

At this moment, everyone finally snapped back to reality, realizing that the girl's head was not getting wet because of Thor's doing!

"Thor, you keep saying you won't fall for Earth girls, but you're quite skillful at impressing them!" Tony Stark couldn't help but remark.

"Shielding a girl from the rain is nothing. Look at our Asgardian prince, he directly chased away the rain!" James Rhodes clicked his tongue. "He's quite the charmer!"

"Thor, I think this move is pretty good. Teach me, will you?" Sam Wilson said. "If I learn this, I feel like I can win over any girl."

"I'd like to teach you, but will you learn it?" Thor snorted.

"Thor, don't get too proud. Although it's romantic to shield a girl from the rain," Tony Stark said, "don't forget that the girl in front of you is a scientist, and your mind is filled with thoughts of your brother. Aren't you afraid she'll ask you some scientific questions?"

"Scientific questions? Like what?" Thor asked.

"With Earth's known gravitational acceleration as 9.8, and the mass of a raindrop as 0.05 grams, how high must the rain fall from to kill someone?" Tony Stark asked.

"While I don't know the formula, Stark, your question lacks a crucial point. You need to consider the speed required to kill someone," Thor responded. "Without that, it's impossible to calculate."

"Come on, Thor, are you really planning to calculate that?" Steve Rogers said, exasperated. "Haven't you seen humans getting wet in the rain?"

The video continued playing.

When Jane Foster saw Thor, she handed the phase device to Darcy Lewis and walked towards him.

As she left, the "rain-free zone" above her head followed her. Poor Darcy Lewis, who had stayed with Jane Foster and was safe from the rain, was now soaked.

"Jane," Thor's face broke into a smile as he walked toward Jane Foster.

Slap!

However, Jane Foster greeted him with a slap.

"Sorry, I had to make sure you were real," Jane Foster said after the slap, looking at Thor. "Today has been really bizarre."

"I am real, Jane."

Slap!

As soon as Thor spoke, Jane Foster slapped him again.

"Where were you?" Jane Foster demanded.

"Where were you?" Thor retorted. "Heimdall couldn't see you."

"I've been waiting for you right here," Jane Foster said. "I've been waiting for you. Later, I cried, and then I looked for you everywhere. You said you would come back."

"I know," Thor said. "But the Bifrost was destroyed, and the Nine Realms erupted into war. There was chaos and marauders everywhere. I had to stop the bloodshed."

"That reason sounds reasonable," Jane Foster said, still in a daze. "But I saw you on TV, you went to New York."

"People often have excuses for canceling plans—either they're too busy with work or suddenly fall ill." Upon seeing this, Tony Stark couldn't help but tease again. "But look at our Asgardian prince. His excuses are truly flawless! Fever, work—absolutely perfect."

"I bet that girlfriend must feel extremely guilty for blaming Thor," James Rhodes said. "After all, she should be content. In the midst of his heroic and magnificent efforts to save the world, he still remembers her. What more could she ask for?"

"You two are really something," Thor argued. "I'm just stating the facts."

"And that's what makes it most deadly," Tony Stark said. "Women have always been susceptible to men with compelling stories, and Thor's tale is a thousand times more thrilling than those of some investment geniuses or business elites. Aside from having a position lower than Loki after marriage, there's hardly anything for the ladies to criticize."

"You two, that's enough!" Thor exclaimed.

"At this moment, whatever happens to Jane Foster, it's definitely going to happen after the big battle in New York," Steve Rogers tried to straighten the leaning building.

The video continued to play.

"I'm pretty sure we're going to be arrested," Jane Foster and Thor were busy with each other when Darcy Lewis came running in at an inappropriate time.

"Wait a moment." Jane Foster ran over to the police, "Excuse me."

"Are you Jane Foster?" A middle-aged policeman asked.

"Yes," Jane Foster replied.

"Do you know this person?" The middle-aged policeman pointed to a young man being searched by the police.

"He's my intern, the intern of my intern," Jane Foster explained.

"This is private property," the middle-aged policeman said, "You all are suspected of trespassing. Please come with us."

As the policeman reached for Jane Foster's arm, at that moment, a surge of dark energy erupted from her, knocking over all the policemen present.

"Jane!" Thor rushed to Jane Foster's side after seeing the situation. "Are you okay?"

"What just happened?" Jane Foster asked.

The video paused at this point, and a question appeared:

[In order to solve Jane Foster's problem, where does Thor take her?]

[A: 177A Bleecker Street]

[B: Asgard]

[If you answer this question correctly, you will gain five years of life. If you answer incorrectly, one year will be deducted from your life.]

"Thor, do you know what happened to Jane Foster just now?" Steve Rogers was the first to ask, "That surge of dark energy looked so powerful. What's going on?"

"I can't tell," Thor shook his head, "but I have a feeling it's definitely not something simple."

"Do you need a feeling to figure that out, Thor? It's undoubtedly not something simple," Tony Stark said. "This Jane Foster, we know she's just an ordinary person. To have the power to knock over so many people instantly, I wonder what she encountered."

"It should be related to that gravitational anomaly she mentioned before," Bruce Banner said.

"And she had no idea she was missing for five hours," Steve Rogers added. "Either that gravitational anomaly messes with time, or she lost her senses inside it, maybe unconscious or something."

"So, if we find that gravitational anomaly, we might find what caused Jane Foster to knock over people without even moving?" Tony Stark said.

"Stark, don't jump to conclusions like that. We don't know if that thing is good or bad, a blessing or a curse," Bruce Banner said.

"I know, I just brought it up," Tony Stark said. "Now the question is, where will Thor take his girlfriend?" Tony looked at Thor. "Thor, where do you think you'll take her?"

"I think it should be Bleecker Street," Thor thought for a moment. "Doctor Strange left a deep impression on me. Not only is he an extremely powerful sorcerer, but he also has many ancient tomes, even records of Asgardian magic. So, it's more likely that I'll find answers to the unknown there."

"The question is, is Jane Foster's problem related to magic?" Steve Rogers asked. "Doctor Strange deals with magic, but even if he's powerful in magic, it won't be of any use if Jane Foster's issue isn't magical."

"I can't be sure, it doesn't seem like it, but it does at the same time," Thor said.

"In that case, is it possible to take her to Asgard?" Bruce Banner asked. "Your father is the ruler of the Nine Realms, and he's been alive for at least five hundred thousand years. He must be more knowledgeable than Doctor Strange in many aspects, and he might have information about that dark energy."

"I can take an Earthling to Asgard as a guest, for a visit, that's no problem, but bringing her there for treatment wouldn't be appropriate," Thor shook his head. "Unless she's an extremely important person to me, I wouldn't do that."

"Thor, come on, open your eyes and look at the video. Although you may not have strong feelings for Jane Foster right now, the video tells a different story," Tony Stark said. "It's obvious she's an important person to you. You smiled when she slapped you; that's the look of someone important."

"If that's the case..." Thor pondered for a moment, "I choose B!"

[Correct answer! You gain five years of life!]

The paused scene continued.

"Put your hands on your head and step back!" A young police officer held a baton and approached cautiously.

"This lady isn't feeling well," Thor said.

"She's dangerous," the young police officer emphasized.

"So am I." Thor held Jane Foster tightly. "Hold on to me."

"What are you going to do?" Jane Foster asked.

Before Thor could finish, he looked up at the sky, and in the next moment, a magnificent rainbow bridge descended from the heavens, swallowing him and Jane Foster.

"We have to do this again." When they arrived in Asgard, Jane Foster was excited.

"Welcome to Asgard," Heimdall said.

The camera shifted, and Jane Foster lay there with several healers surrounding her, dark red energy lines floating above her body.

From those lines, it was evident that a cluster of red energy was parasitic within Jane Foster.

"This isn't a substance from Earth. What is it?" Thor asked.

"It's still unclear," one of the healers said, "but the energy surging within her is too great, and she can't handle it."

"Are my words falling on deaf ears?" At this moment, Odin suddenly walked in.

"She's sick," Thor said.

"She's mortal," Odin stated plainly. "They all get sick."

"I brought her here because we can save her," Thor said.

"She doesn't belong to Asgard, just as goats don't belong on the banquet table," Odin said, seeing Jane Foster as an insignificant mortal in his eyes, being the ruler of the Nine Realms.

"Who do you think you are?" Jane Foster became displeased.

"I am Odin, King of Asgard, protector of the Nine Realms," Odin proclaimed.

"Uh," Jane Foster was taken aback, "I am..."

"I know who you are, Jane Foster," Odin said.

"Have you mentioned me to your father?" Jane Foster looked excitedly at Thor.

"She has some substance within her, father," Thor said to Odin.

"Her planet has its own healers called 'doctors'; let them handle it," Odin said. "Guards, send her back to Midgard."

Several guards came over, and when they touched Jane Foster, the scene from Earth repeated itself. A surge of black energy erupted, knocking over all the Asgardian guards.

Finally, Odin began to take Jane Foster's condition seriously. He examined her himself and then said, "Follow me."

The video paused at this point, and the question appeared:

[Can Odin solve Jane Foster's problem?]

[A: Yes]

[B: No]

[If you answer this question correctly, you will gain five years of life. If you answer incorrectly, one year will be deducted from your life.]

"Odin is the Allfather, the ruler of the Nine Realms. He should be able to solve a problem with a mortal, right?" Sam Wilson said.

"I'm not so sure about that. Everyone has their expertise, and Odin is a king, not a doctor," Steve Rogers said. "He might not be able to do what doctors can."

"Captain, you make a good point, but don't forget, Asgard isn't Earth, and Odin isn't an ordinary mortal," James Rhodes said. "I believe within the Nine Realms, there's very little that Odin doesn't know. After all, he's lived for too long."

"There's nothing to discuss. We don't have a say in matters concerning Odin because the only one here who knows about Odin is Thor. We haven't even met Odin in person!" Tony Stark chimed in. "So, for this question, we should just ask Thor."

"I believe in my father," Thor said. "I choose A!"

[Wrong answer! One year deducted from your life!]

"Father can't solve it either?" Thor was surprised. "What on Earth is inside Jane?"

"It seems like it's something extraordinary," Bruce Banner said. "And such a thing is on Earth!"
