Chapter 185: Chapter 186: The Shock of the Endgame Avengers: Something's Off About This New York Battle!

Just like in the video, Loki slowly stood up from a crouched position, a wicked smile on his face.

But when he absentmindedly looked up and saw the situation before him clearly, the smile on his face disappeared instantly.

What the heck?

What's going on?

Why are there a bunch of people looking at me as if they've been waiting for me for a long time?

What the heck!

And why is Thor here too!

"Loki has brought an impressive entrance from a distance, adding some fun to our boring lives. Let's all applaud and welcome him. On the count of three, everyone! One, two, three!" Tony Stark loudly counted, "Clap, clap, clap!"

Applause erupted on the scene.

"Thor, why are you here?" Loki's expression changed for a moment, still managing to ask the question he was most concerned about.

"Isn't it obvious?" Thor said, "Waiting for you."

"Waiting for me?" Loki felt a sudden urge to say, "You knew I was coming?"

"We all knew," Steve Rogers said, "We've been waiting for you for a long time."

Swoosh!

Steve Rogers immediately shot his shield, slamming it into Loki's chest and sending him flying.

Clang, clang!

Tony Stark extended his hand and shot two glowing ropes that wrapped around Loki, securing him tightly.

"Everyone, would you believe me if I said I came to Earth for a vacation?" Loki lay on the ground, a slightly awkward yet graceful smile on his face.

"Is that it?" Pietro Maximoff looked at the struggling Loki on the ground and said somewhat incredulously.

The most elite Avengers had waited day and night for so long, and it ended in just a few moves?

"Using the portal must have consumed a lot of his energy. Now is when he's weakest," Steve Rogers bent down and picked up the staff that Loki had dropped on the ground.

"Is this thing what enhanced Wanda's and my abilities?" Pietro Maximoff looked at the staff emitting a blue light and said, "Should we give it a try?"

"After everything is settled, you can try," Steve Rogers said.

"Okay, Bruce, it's time for the big guy to come out." Tony Stark said to Bruce Banner, "I'm all set to record. It's time to recreate the iconic scene."

"Iconic scene? What iconic scene?" Even though Loki on the ground couldn't understand what everyone was saying, he had a foreboding feeling, "What are you going to do to me?"

"Loki has already been subdued. Let's forget about the iconic scene?" Pietro Maximoff looked at the Loki lying on the ground, struggling weakly, and said somewhat puzzled.

"That's it?" Thor looked at Loki, who was yelling on the ground with an innocent look, and couldn't help but feel a little reluctant.

"Let it go?" Tony Stark gave Thor a sidelong glance, "Thor, can you be sure that Bruce won't go to Sakar? Can you be sure that you won't go to Sakar? Can you assert that your iconic scene won't happen? Have you thought it through? In case that day really comes, I'm recording it now in advance, and Loki is here to cover for you."

"Why waste words? Bring out the big guy quickly!" Thor immediately said, "Whether there's coverage or not doesn't matter. What matters is that I think Loki's invasion of Earth is despicable and he deserves a good lesson."

Tony Stark: "..."

Steve Rogers: "..."

Pietro Maximoff: "..."

Who would have thought that Thor, who usually has a straightforward appearance, could be so devious on the inside!

"Can someone lend me a phone? I want to record too." Thor said again.

"What? You want to record too?" Thor's words caused another round of astonishment. Steve Rogers couldn't help but remind him, "Thor, the Hulk is going to smash, but that's your brother."

"Well, since you're all going to watch after it's recorded, why not just record it myself?" Thor said sincerely, "I can choose my favorite angles."

It was a well-reasoned argument, leaving everyone speechless.

"Roar!" A roar echoed out, and Bruce Banner appeared in front of Loki, transforming into a green, muscular giant.

"Shit!" Loki's heart unexpectedly started pounding "thump thump" when he saw the Hulk. "What the hell is this! What is this thing!"

"Hehehe, go ahead and scream. Even if you scream your lungs out, no one will come to save you," Tony Stark wore a gentlemanly smile on his face.

"That's enough! You insignificant, lowly creatures!" Loki was furious, truly furious. He shouted in anger, "I am a god! Let me tell you, I won't be subdued by you ants..."

He hadn't finished speaking when a large green hand grabbed his leg, and he was flung around on the ground, the sounds of "thump thump thump" echoing all around.

"Brilliant, truly brilliant." Tony Stark recorded while watching with great interest. "I never thought that at this moment Loki's lines would be exactly the same as the ones from the video when he was being thrown around. He's truly fated to be thrown."

"Seeing it live is a completely different experience from watching the video." Steve Rogers said, "Just from that scene alone, all the waiting these past few days hasn't been in vain."

"Hulk, you missed a line, 'a weak god,' say it." Tony Stark said to the Hulk, who had just tossed Loki aside like trash.

"Roar!" The Hulk looked at Tony Stark, then at Thor and Captain America, before pouncing on Tony Stark.

"It's not me who's the hardest to beat up, why did you have to pounce on me?" Tony Stark had already put on his sober bracelet on his wrist long ago. As soon as he spoke, he shouted, "Hulk, give me a little punch in the chest."

The effect of the sober bracelet was truly immediate. Hulk was still in the air, but he instantly transformed back into Bruce Banner. Fortunately, Thor jumped up and caught him mid-air; otherwise, he would have broken a couple of bones for sure.

"Is it done recording?" The first thing Bruce Banner said after landing was, "Remember to send me a copy of the video."

"No problem!" Tony Stark said, then he instructed everyone, "But I hope everyone can forget the scene where I used the bracelet."

"That's for sure, especially considering the 'sacrifice' you made for Loki's iconic scene." Steve Rogers said.

"What? Loki's been caught?" When the news that Loki had been captured spread, all the heroes rushed over to gather.

"Is the iconic scene recorded? If it's recorded, send me a copy."

"Don't tell me the iconic scene wasn't recorded. I've been looking forward to it."

"If the iconic scene isn't recorded, it would really be a letdown after Loki came all this way."

Almost every person who arrived immediately asked Tony Stark for a copy of the iconic scene featuring Loki.

"What's going on?" Loki looked at this scene, feeling humiliated yet disoriented at the same time. "Why does it seem like they all knew that I was going to be beaten up by that green guy?"

"Thor, what's going on here?" Loki couldn't help but ask Thor.

"What kind of deal did you make with the Chitauri?" Thor countered, "Why would they help you invade Earth?"

"What Chitauri? I have no idea what you're talking about," Loki was shocked internally, but he managed to maintain a composed exterior.

"He's lying." Wanda Maximoff immediately sensed Loki's lie.

"Loki, Wanda can enter your mind and see your thoughts." Thor reminded him from the side. "You can continue playing your tricks, but if you don't want all your secrets in your mind to be seen by Wanda, I advise you to tell the truth."

"Damn it!" Loki's expression changed, "Ok, Ok! The deal between me and them is actually very simple. I gave them the Cosmic Cube, and in return, they helped me become the ruler of Earth."

"Why did they want the Cosmic Cube?" Nick Fury asked.

"How would I know? Do I need to know?" Loki retorted, "All I needed to do was hand over the Cube to them. As for what they would do with it, I don't care at all."

Nick Fury turned to look at Wanda Maximoff, who nodded, indicating that Loki wasn't lying.

"Now that Loki hasn't obtained the Cube and can't open the portal, will the Chitauri still come to Earth?" Scott Lang asked.

"It's likely unavoidable." Steve Rogers said in a solemn tone, "Their goal is the Cube, and the Cube is now on Earth."

"Captain is right," Loki chimed in, a gentlemanly smile appearing on his face, "Those guys will eventually come to Earth. They're determined to get their hands on the Cube." He then added, "I can help."

"You?" Everyone's gaze turned towards Loki.

"That's right, me. Only I have had dealings with the Chitauri in person. I don't mean to look down on you, but frankly, I doubt any of you know what the Chitauri even look like..."

"Hold on a moment." Nick Fury fetched a piece of paper and a pen, quickly scribbling. He then presented his sketch of a Chitauri to Loki. "Do they look like this?"

"..." Loki fell silent instantly.

"Where were you just now?" Tony Stark said, "Oh, right, you were saying how we don't even know what those alien bugs look like. Go on."

"Anyway, only I have directly interacted with them. In terms of understanding them, I am definitely the foremost. Knowing your enemy is key to victory. With me on your side, you will surely defeat them," Loki's gentlemanly smile returned to his face. "In the shortest time, with the smallest cost."

"What do you want?" Phil Coulson asked.

"Very simple, for each and every one of you, it's as easy as breathing, as easy as drinking water..."

"What do you really want, just say it!" Nick Fury interrupted Loki.

"As long as you can delete the video that was just recorded, I will be your most solid ally," Loki's gaze swept across the faces of the superheroes, "Each and every one of you must delete it, no one should secretly keep a copy, even for a second."

"No!" A loud voice rang out, and surprisingly, it was Thor who refused first.

"Thor?" Loki looked at Thor incredulously, "What does this have to do with you? Are you jumping out to spoil my plan?"

"The video definitely cannot be deleted until I return from Sakar," Thor said firmly, word by word.

"Sakar? What's that place? And why would you go there?" Loki couldn't keep up with Thor's train of thought, "Wait, does whether or not you go to Sakar have anything to do with the video?"

"If we deal with our sister in advance, perhaps there would be no need to go to Sakar," Thor certainly wouldn't divulge what happened on the planet Sakar.

"Sister? What nonsense are you talking about? Where did this sister come from?" Loki exclaimed, "Thor! Oh, no, brother! That kind of video is useless to you. Why don't you just delete it?"

"I can delete it, as long as you're willing to tell us when and where the Chitauri are and how many forces they have," Nick Fury asked sternly.

"Delete it first, and I'll tell you," Loki said with a smile.

"I'm about to send the video to the TV station, for all the people of the United States to enjoy your heroic pose," Nick Fury said.

"You devil!" Loki was horrified and glared at Nick Fury hatefully. "Fine, I give in. You want to know something? I'll tell you everything without holding back."

"Speak."

"My relationship with them is actually one of mutual use. They never revealed their secrets to me, but based on my observations, they have at least hundreds of thousands of troops," Loki said.

"Hundreds of thousands? What's the exact number?" Phil Coulson asked, "Don't play tricks, be more specific."

"Specific numbers are meaningless," Loki replied.

"What do you mean?" Phil Coulson asked.

"The Chitauri are one of the worst forces in the universe, even though their technology is somewhat advanced. Can you imagine? Their forces are organized like a 'hive'," Loki shrugged, "As long as you take out the 'queen bee', no matter how many soldiers there are, they will be instantly defeated."

"Hahaha! Surprised by such a big secret, aren't you?" Loki believed he had just revealed the core secret of the Chitauri and laughed triumphantly, "See, this is the importance of information. With this secret known, the Chitauri can no longer pose a threat. How about that? Just me, am I not equivalent to a million-strong army, um..."

As Loki spoke, he suddenly couldn't continue, because he realized that everyone on the scene was looking extremely calm, without a hint of surprise, as if they had known all along.

"You guys, you guys...?" Loki cautiously asked.

"Can you tell us something we don't know?" Nick Fury said.

"Shit!" Loki couldn't hold back any longer. He stood up and said, "What's going on with this planet? I arrive, and you're all waiting for me here! Filming my video! Do you know how much effort I put into uncovering the biggest secret of the Chitauri? And now a group of Earthlings already knew about it? Shit! What the hell is going on?"

"Thor, you're with them, do you know?" Loki's gaze fell on Thor, "Tell me, what the hell has happened on Earth? What's the deal with these people! Damn it!"

"Do you want to know?" Thor said, "Then help us defeat the Chitauri, no, it's not help us, it's help yourself, redeem yourself, alleviate your sins!"

"Fine, fine!" Loki was finally defeated. "I'm helping to redeem myself, OK? But it seems like you guys already know everything I know. What else can I do?"

"You just exposed the fact that you're already of no value." Bruce Banner said.

"Otherwise? If you guys already know they're a hive, what help can I possibly offer?" Loki remained composed, then he nodded his chin at Thor, "Besides, with him around, can you guys even kill me?"

"..." This statement left Bruce Banner speech

Actually, even if Thor wasn't present, Loki wouldn't have been in danger of losing his life.

Firstly, he was Thor's brother after all, and for Thor's sake, they wouldn't kill Loki.

Secondly, although Loki was here to be the executioner, he hadn't even picked up a knife. On Earth, he hadn't managed to kill a single chicken, let alone shed any human blood.

"You do see the situation clearly," Steve Rogers stepped forward and said, "You've seen it too. Thor and we are good friends, and you, have you done anything else wrong? In reality, we could be friends. Tell me, without the Tesseract, can the Chitauri still come to Earth?"

"Friends! Yes! We can become friends. Compared to them, I'm more willing to be friends with you guys," Loki revealed his charming smile again. "In truth, I despise those ugly creatures. It's just that back then, when I was wandering the universe, I was captured by them and had no choice but to submit. I was alone at the time, but they had a million-strong army. Did I have any other options besides surrendering? Everyone is intelligent, right?"

"Now that we're friends, can you untie me?" Loki bounced up and down, "Seriously, being bound for so long, my legs have gone numb."

"Can the Chitauri still come to Earth?" Steve Rogers remained unmoved, "Answer the question!"

"Buddy, the Chitauri are an interstellar army. They consider themselves part of the universal immune system. They've fought in space for a long time. Do you think they wouldn't have interstellar transportation capabilities?" Loki glanced at Steve Rogers with some disdain.

"Then how would they come to Earth?" Steve Rogers asked again.

"Thor?" Loki turned his head to Thor, "Are you just going to stand there? With so many of you, are you afraid I'll escape?"

"Loki, answer the question first." Thor also said, "How will the Chitauri come to Earth?"

"Come on!" Loki sighed in exasperation, "I thought you guys were all smart, but I didn't expect you to be so rigid. Why do we have to wait for the Chitauri to come? Can't we, or rather, can't we let them come to us voluntarily?"

"You mean..." Steve Rogers said in a deep voice, "Use their own strategy against them, make them think you've successfully obtained the Tesseract, and use it to open a portal?"

"Didn't expect there was another clever one among you." Loki laughed, "We can let them come to us voluntarily. We can choose the battlefield, set up an ambush in advance. But if they attack us on their own, we might not have control over the battlefield."

"Alright, let's do it that way." Nick Fury said, "I know of a deserted mountain, far from the city, with no population. There's an abandoned military base there that can also confuse the aliens. We can use that as the battlefield."

"Now that the plan is set, the sooner we act, the better." Bruce Banner said, "If we delay too long, the Chitauri might become suspicious."

"We'll move immediately." Tony Stark untied the ropes from Loki.

In preparation for the Battle of New York, the group had already been ready for a long time, anticipating various possibilities and making corresponding preparations. The team immediately headed to the deserted mountain base that Nick Fury mentioned.

In the original storyline, it was Dr. Erik Selvig who used the Tesseract to open the portal. However, in this case, it was Tony Stark himself who did it. He spent a few days working on it at the base, and it didn't take much effort to successfully open the portal.

While Tony Stark was studying how to open the portal using the Tesseract, the others weren't idle either. They were all busy making preparations.

By the time Tony Stark finished, all the capable heroes had gathered at Mount Aoi, and the 500 Iron Man suits were already in position, ready for action at Tony Stark's command.

"What about the 'Bee Bombs'? How are they prepared?" Tony Stark looked at the neatly lined up Iron Man suits and asked T'Challa, the Black Panther, standing beside him.

"They're ready, ready to be launched at any time." T'Challa replied.

The "Bee Bombs" were bombs specifically developed by Wakanda to destroy the Chitauri mother ship. Nuclear weapons like the bomb used in the original storyline were hard to come by, even for someone as resourceful as Nick Fury, unless the situation escalated to the brink of destruction, as it did in the original plot.

But how could they let New York become a battlefield again? How could they let that situation repeat itself?

As such, the heroes didn't possess nuclear weapons.

"The firepower down the mountain is also ready." Nick Fury, dressed in a black trench coat, walked over. "We can start at any time."

"If we fail, can those soldiers down the mountain stop the aliens?" T'Challa asked.

"Even if they can't stop them, they must try." Nick Fury turned and looked in the direction of the mountain, "Remember, behind us are the people of New York."

"I really don't know if opening the portal voluntarily is the right decision or not." Tony Stark said softly, with a touch of melancholy.

"Tony, we don't have a choice. The Chitauri will come sooner or later," Nick Fury said, "You and I both know that."

"Then let's begin," Tony Stark wasn't one to hesitate, he immediately activated the portal.

A blue light shot up into the sky, and the sky slowly split open, forming a portal!

Whale-like Chitauri ships flew out of the portal.

Even though they had chosen a desolate mountain as the battlefield, the sudden appearance of a large crack in the sky and massive whale-like creatures descending from it was witnessed by countless citizens of New York.

"Oh my God, what is that?"

"Why is the sky splitting?"

"Are aliens invading Earth?"

"Is the end of the world coming?"

For a moment, all eyes in New York were focused on the nameless desolate mountain.

At the same time, in a corner of New York, a group of people wearing white uniforms appeared, which was quite out of place. If Steve Rogers and Tony Stark were present, they would be quite surprised, because these people in white uniforms looked exactly like them!

They were the Avengers from the future, who had come back to 2012 to find the Infinity Stones.

"Let's split up, two stones, one in Uptown, one in Downtown," Captain America issued the order.

"Captain, something's not right." Scott Lang said in puzzlement, "Don't you find it too quiet around here for a battlefield?"

The Endgame Captain America looked around, indeed, people were coming and going, bustling about. It looked like a scene of prosperity, far from the appearance of an alien invasion.

"Did we arrive too early?" Endgame Captain America was puzzled, "Hasn't the Battle of New York happened yet?"

"No, Captain, it has happened, but the battlefield isn't here." Endgame Hulk pointed to the distance, "Look, the portal, the Chitauri fleet."

"What the hell?" Endgame Iron Man's eyes were almost popping out, "The battle clearly happened right here on this piece of ground, when did it move to the mountain? Did I remember wrong?"

"Is this really the 2012 we experienced?" Endgame Captain America was also bewildered, "This Battle of New York is really off!"

"This Battle of New York is definitely not the same as the one we know." Bruce Banner furrowed his brow, "It's way too different."

"Why would it be like this?" Scott Lang was baffled, "Could it be because of our arrival, a butterfly effect that changed the past?"

"Butterfly effect?" Steve Rogers doubted this explanation, "But we're right here, not doing anything! And nobody even notices us!"

"This isn't a butterfly effect at all," Tony Stark looked up at the crack in the distant sky.

"So why did the Battle of New York turn out like this?" Scott Lang pointed to the distance, "I may not have experienced the Battle of New York, but I've seen it in the news, and it's very different from what's happening now."

"It's indeed very different, completely unlike the Battle of New York in my memory," Steve Rogers said.

"Then what..."

"It doesn't matter why this happened," Tony Stark interrupted Scott Lang's endless questions, "We're here to get the stones, not to solve mysteries."

"That's right, no matter how the timeline has changed, it's already a past event. It's pointless to dwell on it," Steve Rogers said in a deep voice, "Once we get the stones, we'll leave immediately. No matter how the Battle of New York has changed, it has nothing to do with us. We won't interfere."

"But look around, this place is no longer the Battle of New York we know. The situation has changed," Scott Lang was filled with worry, "Can we still get the stones according to the plan?"

"Since the Battle of New York has already happened, then the Tesseract and the scepter should be here," Steve Rogers turned his head and glanced at the battlefield, "Tony, Scott, the three of us will go, seize the opportunity, and make sure to get the Space Stone and the Mind Stone."
