Sterling barked at Merrick and Andre, "Get the doctor here now! I think my wife may have been poisoned!"
He watched as both knights scrambled from his chambers. Sterling could hear the clattering of their armor as they both ran in search of Faye's doctor. He clutched his wife to his body and rocked her in his arms.
"I am sorry, butterfly, please don't leave me." His voice cracked. "I wouldn't know what to do without you now. You have so quickly grown on me. Please, my sweet Faye, open your eyes."
Within moments, the knights and the doctor barged back into the chambers. They were all out of breath from rushing to the room. They saw Sterling seated on the bed with Faye's unresponsive body draped in his arms.
