Chapter 2: Grandpa System (Part Two)

"Who are you?" Hazel asked without blinking his eyes. He couldn't help but get enchanted by her look. She was the most beautiful woman he had seen.

"Who am I? We have been talking all this time. Can't you recognize me?" the girl asked, giggling.

"Oh, right. So you are indeed that girl. What should I call you?"

The girl smiled, enhancing her beauty by twofold. "My name is Mircalla. Nice to meet you, hm...."

"My name is Hazel." Hazel extended his hand for a handshake, but Mircalla looked at him bitterly. She tried to touch him, but her hand passed through him. She was intangible.

"I don't have a body. My soul is trapped inside that ring," Mircalla said in a sad tone.

"What happened to you?"

"I will explain everything to you later. For now, you have to escape. The goblins are coming back!"

"What? Oh, shoot. What should I do? There is no way I can face them all by myself," Hazel exclaimed. He was panicking, but he didn't regret his decision to enter this cave. If he would die, at least, a heavenly beauty would accompany him.

"Don't worry! I will help! I have saved up a spare of my aura for this situation. You can face them all without worry!"

Just as Mircalla said, nine goblins entered the treasury room. Their levels varied from level 5 to level 10. As a level one, Hazel didn't feel confident at all. How much could someone's aura help him in this situation?

As he pondered about that, the ring started to emanate blue aura and covered his entire body. Hazel felt surprised because his level rose to level ten. With that, he could stand a chance against the goblins.

"We are linked now, so I can let you borrow my power."

"What do you mean by linked?" Hazel asked.

"I will explain later. You need to survive first!"

The goblins lunged at him and targeted his limbs and vital areas. However, Hazel was calm. For some reason, the aura that enveloped him felt stronger than the entire goblins combined. He pivoted his waist and swung his ax horizontally. With one slash, he decapitated three goblins at the same time.

"Holy heck. I am strong," Hazel said as he split another goblin in half. After that, the other goblins maintained their distance from him.

"Come on. What's wrong? You chicken?" Hazel taunted, but the goblins didn't buy his provocation. Instead, they only looked at him warily, and one of them left the room.

"What are you doing? Chase that goblin. He will call for reinforcement!" Mircalla urged. "My aura can only last for ten minutes too! So you should get away from here as soon as possible!"

"You should have said so!" Hazel ignored the goblins and left the room. After that, he ran away to the exit while the goblins were chasing him.

As he was about to reach the exit, Hazel found the goblin who had run away. He chopped the goblin's neck and continued to run.

Hazel finally got out of the cave, but he couldn't relax yet. There were still goblins behind him, and he wouldn't know if he would meet other goblins, so he decided to run.

With the borrowed aura, Hazel could outrun them, and he hid inside a bush in the forest.

Hazel looked around if he was already safe, and he could finally sigh in relief when he saw nothing follow him.

"So... who are you really?" Hazel asked Mircalla who had been floating around him. She said he was the only one who could see her due to his link with the ring.

"I am Mircalla von Viktoria, a succubus from another world. When I came to this world, people hunted me, and they almost killed me. They destroyed my body, but I could save my soul."

"You are a demon, and you are from another world. Does that mean you have bad intentions in this world?"

"No, no. I swear I am not a bad person!" Mircalla exclaimed, but Hazel still put on a suspicious expression. "Well I want to take revenge against those people who almost killed me, but I truly am not a bad person. I only visited this world out of curiosity, and that's all. I swear upon my honor as a warrior!"

Hazel felt weird when a succubus talked about honor. He heard that succubus were degenerate demons, but he felt he could believe her because she had helped him.

Hazel had killed a few goblins, so he should have gotten experience points and leveled up. So, he checked his status window in excitement. However, he was surprised because he didn't get any experience points from killing those goblins.

"Huh? Where are all my experience points?" Hazel asked.

"I am sorry to say this, but you won't get any experience points from killing anything with my aura."

Hazel looked at her in a dumbfounded expression. "So what was the point of saving you?" he asked while touching the ring.

"Wait, wait. Don't take it off. I will reward you! I have a lot of experiences as a powerful warrior. If you come to my world, you will hear about my legend everywhere, so I can teach you to become stronger!"

"Okay?" Hazel said with an uninterested tone. He was actually interested, but he felt tired after all that happened in the cave, but Mircalla thought he was uninterested in that offer.

"I know! Aside from becoming your teacher, I will also offer you all the treasures I am hiding! I swear, so please don't abandon me. I was so lonely in that cave alone without people understanding me," Mircalla begged. She was on the verge of crying.

Looking at her genuine sad expression, Hazel felt touched. He coughed and said, "Stop it. I didn't say I wouldn't help you."

"Will you help me?" Mircalla asked, and Hazel nodded. "Then you won't throw away the ring, will you?"

Hazel looked at his ring finger and laughed. She probably thought he was going to take the ring off, but she misunderstood. "Oh this? I have never worn a ring before, so it feels itchy."

"So you really won't abandon me?" Mircalla asked carefully while looking at him with teary eyes.

"Yeah, I won't. Anyway, we have to form a party with other people. There are so many treasures inside the goblin's dent, but I can't defeat all the goblins alone."

"Wait, no! You have to forget about the goblin's dent!"

"Why?"

"Because the leader of the goblins is the goblin shaman. He has reached level 30! I wouldn't lure you in if he was inside the dent, but he would come back if he heard someone intrude into the dent."

"Then I can report about the goblin's dent and gain contribution points."

"No! Think about it. There are so many treasures inside. Do you think the contribution points are worth it compared to all those treasures?"

"Then what should I do?" Hazel asked.

"Just leave the cave alone. People won't discover it. To tell you the truth, the goblin shaman has set an illusion spell around the cave, so no one can discover it. The reason you could discover it was because I used my energy to intervene with the illusion spell. You can come back again when you have reached level 30."

Hazel laughed bitterly when he heard that. In this era, level 30 were considered elite forces. It was a level that commoners wouldn't dare to dream of. Could he, a commoner, even reach that level?

"Don't feel pessimistic. I have reached a high level. Guiding someone to level 30 is an easy feat for me, especially when you have that ring." Mircalla pointed at the ring on his finger.

"What is this ring?"

"A priceless treasure. In the past, all world rankers from this world and another world were killing each other to have that ring. I could secure it, but as you can see, I can't use it, but now it is all yours, so you are lucky. Even the richest person's entire fortune can't compare to this ring's worth."

Hazel felt interested when she mentioned that. If that was true, that meant the entire treasure in the goblin's dent was not worth it compared to this ring.

"So what can I do with this ring?" Hazel asked.

"It is a priceless treasure that allows you to get unlimited potential. There is no limit to how strong you can get. As for how the ring works, I heard the ring responses to your inner desire. For now, you can try pouring a drop of your blood onto that ring."

Hazel didn't hesitate to draw blood on his thumb. He heard magic treasures could recognize masters with blood pact, so no wonder it needed blood. He wondered what grade this ring fell into.

As Hazel poured a drop of his blood onto the ring, the ring shone, and the jewel turned light blue with a few red line patterns that looked like cracks. After that, the jewel emanated light and created a blue screen in the air.
