Chapter 27: Submit or Die
During the period that Henry and the others had gone out, the survivors that were left in the facility also went out for their hiding.
During the moment that the apocalypse had descended, they had fallen at a great disadvantage due to the numerical advantage of the apocalyptic creatures that were attacking them.
Even if one was able to fight a single wolf, then, if they were attacked by three or more, then that person was going to be torn apart easily.
This was the reason as to why despite possessing the guns, the security team of the facility had been cleared off. The main reason behind this was due to the fact that, they were guarding the gate, where are the apocalyptic creatures were coming in through.
Although they had managed to kill almost a dozen of them, due to the fear that they were experiencing when they were facing such a large group of wild animals, most of them couldn't unleash their full capabilities when holding the guns.
And, since the facility was always peaceful at all times, all those that worked here as security guards had not refined their skills for a very long period of time.
Due to the hunting that had occurred, the number of apocalyptic creatures had greatly decreased. For that reason, the number of apocalyptic creatures that could be found within the facility could be counted easily.
Even though it was true that Henry and the others had hidden the guns that were present at the gate and the armory, they were bound to miss others.
After all, with the size of the facility that occupied tens of kilometers area, there was no way that Henry and the others could cover it all in a short period of time.
There were some of the youths that managed to get the guns. And, they had utilized them to shoot while hiding inside the buildings. Even though they didn't initially know how to use them, with several attempts, they had managed to find a way to shoot.
As for hitting a target, that was something that happened after they had shot several bullets. And, as they experienced the sudden drastic increase in their strength, they were excited and also decided to go on hunts.
Due to the fact that it was already morning, and the number of the apocalyptic creatures present in the facility had been reduced, these youths finally got the courage to get out and begin killing the apocalyptic creatures.
And during this period of time, all these people who managed to kill at least a single apocalyptic creature and gained strength, had of course strived to get even more power.
For that reason, as they continued to use the bullets, they eventually got depleted. And with that finally out of the way, they had resorted to utilizing other means of killing the apocalyptic creatures.
And those few that managed to kill at least 10 of them without using guns, finally got an opportunity to choose their professions.
It was just that, unlike Henry and the others who had gotten the chance to choose their professions during the beginning of the apocalypse hours, these people were not given a chance to kill as many monsters as possible during 1 hour period.
Simply stated, these people would always get a chance to choose a profession as long as they managed to kill 10 apocalyptic creatures without using guns and bullets. And the moment that they made their decisions, they were granted the professions without grades.
And after they had gotten their professions, they had obviously gotten stronger than before. For that reason, there were several people that had developed different ambitions and they decided to make sure that they were fulfilled.
For that reason, during the past few minutes, chaos had already ensued within the facility. Factions had already been formed as people who are close to each other banded together.
As for those who had grudges against the people that had survived, they of course decided to use this chance to make them pay for that.
And in case they came into contact with any person that belonged to the facility, they didn't care whether that person was also brought there by force or not, they both agreed to kill them at sight.
Of course, that was something that only happened to the men. As for the ladies, they were forced to suffer a worse fate. All these youths had been present in the facility for way too long.
For those that had stayed here for over a year were of course holding back for a very long period of time. And since they had been given a chance to vent out, there was no way that they were going to let it go.
In the end, the number of survivors had exceeded 30. Even though this was going to be considered a very small number, this was actually a great proportion as compared to the catastrophe that they had faced.
The moment that the car that Henry and the group arrived at the entrance of the facility, the monsters that were left behind in the facility had already been cleared out.
And when this car suddenly appeared, it immediately attracted the attention of the survivors present in the area.
Of course, the first reaction that everybody had was surprise. After all, the way that the Jeep was looking was so attracting and attention grabbing. And, almost everyone was already fantasizing about being inside the car.
And during that moment, the group that had managed to see the car consisted of eight youths. Each and every one of them had managed to select a profession, and there was even one of them that had managed to reach the second level.
With excitement glinting in their eyes, they immediately rushed forward and surrounded the Jeep. And after that, the strongest person who was already at the second level went ahead and knocked on the driver's window.
"Open up! Better hurry up and get out of the car before we break it and get you out." This youth had a muscular stature, and was considered stronger before the apocalypse descended.
He was amongst the first of the survivors that had killed off the apocalyptic creatures using a gun. Before he was brought here, he was a gangster. For that reason, he had already used a gun before.
So, when he got hold of a gun, he was able to deal with the apocalyptic creatures more easily as compared to the others that had to look for ways of using the gun first.
Henry and the group immediately frowned when they saw that. They had never expected that there was actually a group that was acting unruly. Just from their expression, Henry could immediately tell that they were not standing around the jeep with good intentions.
Henry also knew that they could not see inside the car from outside. Of course, that was unless he deactivated the mechanism that prevented them from doing so.
Himself was quite familiar with this group of people. They were of the same age group, and as a result, they were in the same department.
"Michael, do you have a death wish? I have always been dissatisfied with you. It seems that even the apocalypse is on my side as it allowed you to survive so that you can face me personally." Before Henry could say anything, Adam retorted in anger.
During the time that they had been here, there were a few youths that had not gotten along with. And one of them was the leader of the group, Michael.
Had it not been for the fact that the facility did not allow them to fight against themselves, Adam would have definitely already fought with Michael.
When Michael heard the voice, he was completely stunned. Never in his mind had he expected that the person that was present inside the car was actually a person that he knew of.
But, he had been expecting that this car belonged to one of the top management staff of the facility. After all, according to him, there was no way that just anybody could afford a vehicle that was of this kind in front of him.
His expression turned ugly at the thought that inside this car, Adam was actually in. He couldn't help but lament at how unlucky he was that he could not actually be the first one to get the car.
"Adam, I don't care if Henry is there with you or not. Since the two of us are not in good terms even before now, I will be merciful and give you a chance. You either submit and become my subordinate, or die." Michael stated with an evil grin on his face.
At this moment, he had already began thinking about the methods that he was going to utilize to torture Adam. Had it not been for the fact that he didn't plan to destroy the car, he would have already smashed the car window and kicked Adam out of the car.
As for mentioning about Adam becoming his subordinate, that was something that he wasn't joking about. He was planning to utilize Adam to dominate the other factions that had been created.
After all, the power was finally in his hands, that was going to be the time that he was going to deal with the dissatisfaction in his heart.
"Your grandfather! You actually dare to tell me that I have to submit to you? Are you trying to mess with me?" At that moment, Adam reacted in anger.
Since he was a berserker, he was easily affected by emotions. For that reason, added to the anger that was initially in his heart, plus the provocation that he had received, Adam could not hold it in anymore.
Without waiting for Henry to say anything, he opened the door and rushed out. The moment he got out, he didn't even give Michael another chance to speak, and attacked him.
Bang!
Michael had never expected that he was going to be attacked by Adam just after saying a few words. For that reason, he wasn't able to react as a punch landed on his face.
Adam was conscious enough not to utilize his full strength. Instead, since he was intending to make sure that Michael suffered, he wanted to inflict as much pain as possible on his body.
When the other seven lackeys saw that their boss was being beaten, they all charged towards Adam aggressively. It was also during this time that Adam finally 'noticed' that there was actually a group of people outside and not just a single one.
But even so, he simply snorted and said arrogantly, "That's just a good. It seems that the whole group has gathered together. This is going to make things easier for me. At least, I won't have to go around trying to look for those that had survived so that I can deal with them."
