Chapter 43: 043
Alex watched as the two princesses walked into the inn. He didn't immediately try to talk to them or even look at them. He calmly kept walking up the stairs and thought about the implications of their visit. Someone must be staying here that they both want to see; however, he wasn't sure who that was. He sighed and began to think about each of their differences. While they both had pink hair, the eldest was taller and had blue eyes. The youngest was shorter; however, she had traces of platinum in her hair along with red eyes. The eldest had a more petite body, while the youngest had a more bountiful figure. Although the most striking difference would be their posture and eyes. The eldest princess had a stiffer posture, and her eyes were cold, while the youngest had a more relaxed posture and her eyes seemed to be full of life. Of course, Alex was able to see through her disguise and noticed her eyes were cold just like her sister's. He smiled and thought today was going to be eventful. Although later, Alex would find out how eventful it would really be.
The sisters were glaring at each other and kept glancing around for someone. Earlier, they had felt this weird and unusual attraction. They didn't know what it meant or what it was, but they just knew they had to find out what was causing it. Although they didn't know who had caused this, they had a few guesses. Their royal family had once been a part of the Mortal Dimension; however, due to a mistake their ancestors made, they were banished here. Although it's not all bad, it's not the same as the Mortal Dimension. Their mistake was offending a god, and that god was able to fully manipulate Time. He had told them to watch out for someone, but he never told them who. Of course, the reason for that is because Kronos couldn't see into a future that had someone else with perfect Time manipulation. He had felt that this person would become either a hindrance or an ally. So, he had cursed their royal family with a curse that would siphon their time until they met the person with the perfect Time manipulation. While Kronos was part of the neutral faction, that didn't mean he wasn't as ruthless as the Evil faction. Kronos had set this generation to be the last. Although he said "this generation," each generation had only lived to be 30.
The two princesses both sighed in frustration and confusion as they couldn't find the person who caused that weird feeling. They decided to have a guard stationed outside the inn and to inform them if someone leaves who looks suspicious or unknown to him. They then left the inn and went to the palace. Alex watched them leave, however, he didn't do anything. He felt something was weird about this situation and didn't trust it. He felt it was forced and unnatural, although he didn't know why he felt that way. He just sighed and logged out of the game. He would think about it later; however, he needed a break.
Alex stretched and got out of the VR pod. He then did his basic exercises and ate something. He wanted to go to the headquarters of the Library of Secrets to talk with someone. He couldn't do it in the game just yet, and they already knew his name. So he didn't have any problem meeting in real life, although he felt the need to be more presentable. He took a shower and left to go get a haircut along with getting a few new pairs of clothes. He arrived at a barber and paid him to cut his hair. His hair was now cleaner and trimmed. He then went to a suit shop nearby and bought a black suit along with other necessary accessories. He put on his new suit and went to the Library of Secrets' location in his city. The location was in the wealthier area of the city, and the building was a giant skyscraper. Alex saw that people were coming in and out of the building, however, he didn't pay it much mind. He already knew the building would be crowded, as the Library of Secrets was a behemoth inside the virtual world. Alex walked inside, ignoring the countless stares he was receiving, and walked up to the front desk. The receptionist smiled and said,
"How may I help you today, sir?"
"I would like to have a meeting with the person in charge."
"P-pardon me? That might be difficult as he's talking with a shareholder at the moment."
"Oh? That's even better. Could you just tell him that Alex would like to talk to him? Then, if he doesn't understand, tell him to ask the person he's talking to."
"V-very well. However, I hope you're prepared for the consequences of wasting his time."
The receptionist quickly made a call, and that's when Alex got an evil smile. He had just remembered his so-called girlfriend worked for the Library of Secrets, and he just thought of the perfect plan for her. After waiting a few moments, the receptionist said while stuttering,
"R-right this way, sir! I'll e-escort you to him!"
"Thank you."
The receptionist nodded and headed to the elevator. Once inside, they selected the highest floor and waited awkwardly in silence. Eventually, the elevator door opened, and Alex was greeted with a conference room that had glass walls. The view was breathtaking from all the way up here, however, Alex's focus was aimed at the two people sitting down. One of them was the manager here, an old man with a cane. His luxurious suit also seemed to have been tailored for him. The other man was middle-aged and was smiling at him. Alex slightly laughed and said,
"What a coincidence to see you here."
"Haha! I could say the same thing to you. Although I do wonder what we can do for you."
"I had wanted to make a trade with the guild through the manager here. However, now that you're here, it makes this a lot easier."
"Hehe, what kind of trade did you have in mind?"
