Chapter 45: 045

After Alex left the Inn, the guard injected mana into a strange device. He muttered a few words, and the device flew away at high speed. He then continued with his job as if nothing had happened. He continued on with guarding the entrance of the Inn, and would document anyone who he has never seen or found suspicious.

A few moments later, both princesses received the device the guard had sent. They had each been expecting something and were relived to finally hear something. They hoped they each could find the cause of that mysterious feeling they felt. Once they activated it, they heard the guard's voice saying,

"I believe I've found someone, though I'm not certain if he's the person you're looking for. I've never seen him before, and he gives me a faint divine feeling. I think the gods are watching him, but I can't be certain. He has black hair with white streaks, and his eyes are amethyst. He's incredibly handsome, and I sense a hint of threat from him, much as I hate to admit it."

Even though they were in different rooms at the moment, both princesses wore the same expression. Excitement and happiness showed on their faces. They dropped whatever they were doing to go find him.

While the princesses were preparing to mobilize their forces to search for him, Alex was exploring the city, searching for anything useful. He had already bought a large batch of herbs and alchemy equipment. Although he was still unsure about the blacksmith subclass, he had also purchased many rare ores he had come across. In total, he had used 3,000 gold coins. Alex felt it was the perfect time to appeal to the royal family. He started heading to the palace and continued buying anything he found useful on the way. Along the way, he stumbled upon an unexpected item. In the real world, it was frowned upon, but Alex knew things were different with the Dimensional Auction. The item in question was a slave. Yes, a slave! He had seen a few before, but this one was undoubtedly the best he had seen in both timelines. The reason was that he knew her – she was Laura, known as the Queen of Mischief. She belonged to the Nine-Tailed Fox race and was said to be the next Nine-Tailed Fox. While records of the Nine-Tailed Fox were believed to be lost, Alex understood its power. How could a deity who could stand alongside Kronos be weak? The Nine-Tailed Fox was said to have a high affinity for all nine elemental affinities. They were also known for being tricksters, charming, and seductive. Alex had seen Laura before, and once again, he recognized that this claim wasn't false. Laura was dressed in a thin white dress that accentuated her attributes. Her blood-red eyes and fiery orange hair were captivating. Her long, silky hair reached her waist, and her curves were in all the right places. Her jade-like skin bore no scars. While Alex was still in shock, he heard someone yell,

"100 gold coins!"

"I hear 100 gold coins! Can I get a higher bid? Going once!"

"150 gold coins!"

This continued for a while, and Alex noticed that these people didn't understand Laura's true value. He then shouted,

"500 gold coins!"

The bidding paused momentarily.

"I hear 500 gold coins! Can I get a higher bid?"

The bidding remained silent.

"Going once! Going twice! Going three times! Sold to the black-haired man with white streaks for 500 gold coins!"

Alex breathed a sigh of relief and felt ecstatic. He had acquired someone with unimaginable strength for just 500 gold coins. Alex then headed up to the auctioneer's platform, disappointing a young man who had just arrived. He felt a strong urge to own this fox woman at any cost. Yet, he was late and had missed the bidding. He shrugged it off, knowing he was the heir to a Count in the kingdom, expecting the other party to respect him. He approached Alex, who had just received ownership of the slave contract, and said,

"Excuse me, could I buy that slave from you? I'll pay 2,000 gold coins."

"I'm sorry, but I won't be selling her."

"Excuse me? I don't think you understand. I'm the heir of Count Blackend, and I'm offering you a chance to gain favor with me."

"I don't care. I'm not selling."

"I see, I see. Old Lin! Take care of him for me!"

"Understood, Young Master."

Suddenly, an old man covered in a black robe appeared, ready to attack Alex. However, Alex wasn't going down without a fight. He swiftly raised his sword, parrying the attack and blocking the damage. He was sent flying, which was his intention. He quickly cast Shield of Light and Sanctuary. A golden shield blocked the old man's next attack but shattered moments later. The golden aura surrounding Alex shattered after three swift blows from the old man. Alex knew it wouldn't hold up for long, but it gave him the time he needed. He cast spells in quick succession: Stop, Accelerate, Seeker's Eyes, Flaw, Thermal Vision, Vanquish, Flash, and Aura Blade. With only 100 points of mana left, he had used most of it for this one opportunity, and he wouldn't miss it. As the old man struggled due to his inability to use mana, Alex's speed increased. Then, in a flash of light, the old man was momentarily blinded, giving Alex the opening he needed. He used Vanquish, causing his sword to glow with a faint white light and strands of gold from the aura blade. His sword aimed for the old man's neck, but the old man's instincts allowed him to narrowly dodge the fatal blow. Nonetheless, Alex managed to sever the old man's arm completely, leaving a wound enveloped in pure white aura. The old man screamed in pain, clutching the wound and suffering from the severe Holy element inflicted upon him. He yelled,

"DAMN BRAT! YOU'LL PAY FOR THIS!"

While Alex knew he might face consequences, he was undeterred. He was determined to give his all, even if it meant his own death. Just as the old man was about to launch another attack, two distinct voices yelled,

""ENOUGH!""
