Chapter 21: The Unstoppable Carnage and the Mysterious Shooter

The hero's skull had actually caved in as Nacht had used his power to strengthen his skull tremendously together with his neck, allowing him to deal astonishing damage to the hero who had not expected such an attack.

The hero was lying motionlessly on the ground as Nacht laughed before going after the other heroes. He started his carnage, slaughtering any that dared try and stop him or attack him. The other old hero that had been fighting against Nacht panicked when he saw his friend receive such a heavy blow, but he knew better than to turn his back on Nacht in order to help his friend out.

He tried attacking Nacht with his spear, only for Nacht to grab it before snapping it in half with ease. He then used the half that was in his hand to stab through the neck of the hero from the side before laughing maniacally and continuing his slaughter.

In merely 23 seconds, over 10 heroes died, and even though they were low-ranked heroes that could be found everywhere in the world in large numbers, they were still heroes nonetheless, some of them being talents that the Hero Association was keeping an eye on.

As Nacht slaughtered, a change occurred.

A purple ray was shot from the distance.

Nacht managed to dodge it, albeit barely. The ray passed next to his face, ripping away the red aura around him and even causing some burns to appear on his face thanks to it being so close to the ray. He calmly stared in the distance as he used his ability and covered the right side of his face with his red aura, slowly healing it.

"Yo, handler, it seems a tough one has finally appeared." Nacht's words were clearly heard by me, and I was not nearly as calm as he was.

The ray came too suddenly, and too fast.

I wasn't able to inform Nacht of any heroes making their way over, nor was I able to alert him of the danger. He had managed to dodge the unexpected attack all by himself, and he had made it look effortless.

He still wasn't able to see who it was that shot at him, and neither could I, which meant that the enemy is quite far away. Being able to hit a target, and use such a powerful weapon as well, meant that the enemy is definitely not a person to be trifled with.

As soon as Nacht spoke, another change occurred.

Above Nacht, a person suddenly appeared. He was crashing down on Nacht who smirked upon sensing him. Nacht jumped back, only to suddenly widen his eyes as he sensed danger. He quickly leaned his body forward, almost touching the ground with his forehead as another ray was fired at him, this one passing above his body.

As for the hero that had appeared above Nacht, he kicked at where Nacht had previously stood, causing the ground to cave in and cracks to appear on the street.

"Judging from his strength, he is at least a B-grade hero, the one shooting at you is probably around the same grade as well," I told Nacht as I spectated everything from multiple cameras that I had Nacht place whilst preparing the area previously.

The cameras gave me a good overview of the area, and there was one that Nacht had placed on his forehead as well, allowing me to have the same point of view that he did. The cameras were made by the agency, and they were very small and difficult to be seen, which was great since that meant that the heroes would seldom notice that they were being watched.

Still, I couldn't see exactly where the shooter was, which was a tad annoying. The shots were coming from inside the city, which didn't help much considering the fact that Nacht was in the center of the city.

"I got it, these guys are enough to wake me up," Nacht said with a smile as he was still feeling no real pressure. He had been using his power for quite some time now, which should have put quite a strain on him, but he wasn't showing it in the slightest.

Keeping the invisibility dome around him should be tough enough, but I had him create multiple things in the area, which definitely wasn't easy, but he was still going strong, acting as if nothing had happened.

To be honest, I was doing this partly to see his limits as well.

How long could he use his ability before needing any rest?

What were the requirements for the ability, what could he create with it, how could he use it, how powerful could the ability be when used purely for offense, and how tough was it when used for defense?

How good was Nacht's control over the ability?

That, as well as some other things, were what I wanted to figure out first. Of course, I wasn't expecting to find all of that out right now as this was just one battle he was going through, and I am hoping to put an end to this before he gets in danger.

Since he had already killed quite a few of the D-grade heroes, the mission should already give me some good rewards, at least I hope so, but I did hope for some C-grade heroes to appear, which turned out to be a disappointment as the association had probably noticed his strength and decided to immediately send out two B-grade heroes to eliminate him.

"You've done a fine job killing and demolishing, kid." The hero that had appeared above Nacht said as he cranked his neck.

Tall, bald, with wide shoulders and back, his entire body incredibly muscular with a skin-tight suit covering it. The hero also had a pair of gauntlets, as well as some thick and heavy boots.

"Hmmm, looking at his physical appearance, the suit that sticks to his body like this, the gauntlets and the boots, this is probably 'Musclehead' the B-grade hero famous for his physical strength," I said as I stared at the screen.

"A strong one?"

"Amongst the B-grade heroes, he is considered to be a strong one, well, at least when it comes to sheer strength and destructive power, the lack of agility and intelligence is his weakness, if you can just run circles around him and fight that way, you should be more than fine during the battle," I said with a smile as I knew that Nacht would definitely want to test himself against such an opponent head-on.

And just as I thought, he did.

Nacht charged at 'Musclehead' and the two grabbed each other's hands as they pushed against one another. To my surprise, Nacht wasn't sent flying immediately, nor was he pushed down to the ground right away and actually managed to struggle against the guy for a couple of seconds.

The shooter was behind Musclehead, so Nacht didn't need to worry about getting shot from his current position, but the problem was the fact that he wasn't Musclehead's opponent in terms of sheer physical prowess. After a couple of seconds, his face turned red as Musclehead was pushing him back and even forcing him to bend his back as he slowly stepped closer to Nacht.

The worst thing was that Musclehead had a smile on his face the whole time, it was as if Nacht's struggle was nothing but an amusement for him.

"I didn't think you would be this strong, but it's far from enough pretty boy," Musclehead said mockingly as he suddenly clenched his hands with full power, causing Nacht to groan in pain slightly.

"Freaking bastard," Nacht said calmly before Musclehead's eyes widened. He let go of Nacht's hands and tried to move back, only to be sent flying for a couple of meters. The moment Nacht blew Musclehead away with his power, another ray arrived. Nacht clicked his tongue in frustration as he jumped to the side, but the ray still managed to graze his leg, taking away a small chunk of it and burning the surrounding flesh and muscle.

"Dammit, that hurts!" Nacht said with a groan as his head was suddenly grabbed from the side before being smashed against the building next to him. Musclehead, who had a wound on his chest, started running right next to the building while holding Nacht's head firmly against it, causing a line to appear on the outside of the building as Nacht's head destroyed the outside part of the building.

When he came to the end, Musclehead twisted his hips before throwing Nacht away and quickly charging at him, hoping to hit him in mid-air, right before he landed. At the same time, another ray came, and Nacht's face changed.

From the previous, carefree expression that he had, he now had an angry look plastered on his face. Thin red strings appeared around him and pulled him away from the ray and Musclehead, as he opened his arms wide and stared down at the muscular man.

"I'm going to rip out your arms and feed them to you."
