Chapter 55: The Incredible New Rewards, and the Mysterious 'Warrior' and 'Recruit' levels
Carl left the agency with a wide grin on his face.
He had been contacted by the agency during working hours, they congratulated him for managing to bring them such an incredible talent like Isabella who had already told them that Carl must be her handler in order for her to join the agency, which was a no-brainer for the higher-ups.
The incredible results she got during the test made the scientists shocked to the core, and many of the higher-ranking ones contacted the agency and told them to do whatever they needed to do to make sure she joined the lab, even the chief of the lab, Conrad, contacted the higher-ups.
For so many high-ranking scientists, who were also high-graded villains, to contact the agency so quickly and tell them to make sure one girl joined them was something that rarely ever happened, so the top brass quickly investigated Isabella, and upon finding out that her mother used to be a hero, some complications arose, or at least, they were about to rise, but that was quickly stopped by one call.
None of them knew just what the content of the call was, or who called, but even the top brass suddenly became quiet and simply allowed Isabella to join, and sealed her mother's information so that nobody would ever be able to find out about her.
'So, what are my rewards?' Carl asked the system who sighed.
[ Congratulations to the host for clearing the mission. ]
[ Mission has been passed perfectly, the final result was above what was expected, and the rewards will rise. ]
[ The rewards are the following: ]
- 3X Strength pills
- 2X Body evolution pills
- 2X Body cleansing pills
- 1X Random ability pill
- 1X Free Ability Ticket
- 1X lottery spin for an item
- 1X Advanced Manual ( Up to U Warrior level )
'Advanced manual, that's a new one, the ticket and lottery as well, but what the hell is the U Warrior level?'
[ The host does not need to worry about that yet, the Warrior level is too far away, once the host reaches the 'Recruit' level, he will be given an explanation. ]
'Alright, and just what is the recruit level?'
[ Several times more powerful than you currently are, once the host gets close to the 'Recruit' level, he will be told more. ]
'Always being so mysterious, alright, keep your secrets.'
[ Please don't use movie quotes, it's cheesy and makes me cringe. ]
'…' Carl decided to simply stay silent before getting into his car.
'Alright, what about the other two rewards, the ability ticket and the lottery?'
[ The lottery is as the host has probably guessed, a lottery. ]
[ The host can receive a great reward from it, or trash, since this is the host's first time using it, the chances for getting a good item will be increased. ]
Carl nodded his head as he checked his phone.
'Me and Isabella have gone shopping, we were thinking of celebrating her success tonight in a restaurant, maybe in like 2 – 3h?'
'We'll come back home and go there together, alright?'
Carl looked at Carla's message and replied with a simple 'sure' before starting his car and driving.
[ The free ability ticket is a ticket that will allow the host to receive a free ability, to be more exact, the host will be given a choice out of 5 random abilities which he can choose, which will be turned into a pill for the host to consume. ]
'So, similar to the random ability pill, but I get a couple of options that I can choose from, sweet.'
'I should probably take the other pills first and then use those two things, right?'
[ Correct, with the host's current power level, the body evolution pills, as well as the body cleansing pills, will be consumed and their power absorbed in about 30 minutes. ]
[ The system recommends the host use those two, then a strength pill, and then the random ability pill, followed by the free ticket ability. ]
[ The strain on the host's body might be too much for any more of them. ]
'Alright, I'll listen to your advice.'
Carl arrived home and did just what the system recommended him to do.
The four pills he took first didn't need much time to be absorbed by his body as he did become a lot stronger than before, and even the strength pill turned out to be less painful compared to before and took him less time to be fully used.
After he used the strength pill, Carl was officially as powerful as a C-grade, which brought him quite a lot of joy.
'To think I would become so much more powerful in such a short period of time.'
[ In the eyes of the system, the host has changed from being an ant that anyone could step on, to a large ant that people would find creepy and would quickly step on out of fear. ]
'Always there to cheer me up, huh?'
[ Just doing my best to not let the host allow his arrogance and ego to swell up. ]
Carl sighed before taking the random ability pill, which made him once again feel multiple abilities.
In the end, the one he received baffled him.
[ Ability 'Mint Breath' acquired. ]
[ The ability will make sure that the host will never have a bad breath in his entire life, no matter what happens. ]
'This, I knew that there were some trash abilities, but this is just …'
Both Carl and the system were shocked by the ability he received as it was truly worse than trash.
The ability didn't even qualify for being called an ability in their opinion, so Carl quickly got rid of it.
'As if I would ever allow such a thing to occupy a slot.'
'Now, let's see just what this will bring me.'
Carl took out the ticket and used it, which made it shine brightly before floating right in front of Carl. The ticket suddenly divided into 5 parts, all of which turned into a pill, as well as a holographic screen that showed the descriptions of the abilities, as well as some short videos of random people who were using them.
- Fire Breath ability
- Icy Touch ability
- Poisonous Feet ability
- Horns of the Devil ability
- Wind of Desolation ability
The first three abilities were nothing special, but also nothing bad. They did just as their name described, the first one allowed Carl to breathe fire, the second one allowed his hands to become icy cold, and a simple touch from Carl would be enough to freeze a normal person, while the third made his feet poisonous, allowing him to poison a person by touching him with his feet, and the poison was not a simple one as it would quickly go in the person's body and paralyze them before slowly eating away at their organs.
Still, compared to the last two, they were not even worth mentioning.
The 'Horns of the Devil' ability was one that would give Carl horns, two large, curved horns that would give him powers from a powerful devil who resided in hell. He had no idea whether such a being truly existed, but he wouldn't be surprised if it truly did, still, the drawback to this ability was the horns itself.
Nobody wanted to have large horns on their head, no matter how powerful it would make them.
[ It's a really powerful ability, you will be able to transform into a demonic form for a short period of time, which will greatly increase your power, and you will be able to utilize hellfire, which are flames that can burn even the soul of a person. ]
[ In the future, you will be able to make the horns hide themselves too. ]
'Yeah, and how long would I need to wait for that?'
[ A couple of years … ]
'Nope, I'm choosing the last one.'
The last ability that Carl had managed to gain, the 'Wind of Desolation' allowed him to manipulate wind.
This, however, was not the normal 'wind manipulation' ability that some people around the world had. That ability would allow them to utilize wind in many different ways, allowing them to create blades of wind, tornadoes, pikes, and more.
It would also allow those who managed to gain a high enough proficiency with their ability to even fly and do much more.
This ability, however, was very different.
It allowed Carl to call forth the winds of desolation, which were winds that come from a different realm, winds that can destroy anything just by blowing past it.
The winds of desolation allowed Carl a very rudimentary use in the beginning as he would only be able to summon a light breeze, but even that could kill tens of people if they allowed the breeze to touch them.
The wind would immediately kill the body and damage the soul before taking it with it. The winds of desolation were many times harder to master compared to the normal wind manipulation, it took a lot more time, and it was more restrictive when it came to usage, but the destructive power it possessed was like nothing Carl had heard of before.
[ The host has chosen the 'Wind of Desolation', congratulations to the host. ]
Carl received the pill and quickly swallowed it before lying down in his shower.
'Will it hurt?'
[ Not really, but this will be unlike anything you have felt before. ]
