Chapter 73: An Unconventional Evening: Carl's Unexpected Encounter with His System and More
'You're quite beautiful?' Carl suddenly asked with a confused expression.
'Wouldn't that mean you have a body?'
Carl stopped speaking and waited for the system to respond, but there was no response.
'Wait, you really have a body?!'
'Does that mean you're a person?'
'Hey, you talked to me when I showered, even when I was on the toilet!'
'Dear lord, my system is a voye-'
[ I am not, shut up! ]
[ Just, just stop thinking of such annoying things, you got things to do, you have to get ready for tonight! ]
[ Isabella has obviously crushing on you, it probably happened ever since you were so nice back at the lab, and now after seeing you and Carla go after each other multiple times, she has started lusting after you as well. ]
'Well, thanks for telling me something I already know.'
The system stayed silent for a couple of seconds after his comment.
[ What if this is her first time, how are you going to set up the atmosphere, what are you going to do, you didn't think any of those things! ]
'Correct, and that's because Carla is thinking of all of those things, I just need to do what she says, that's all.'
[ Ccc, aren't you embarrassed to be bossed around like that? ]
'Not in the slightest, I'm being told what to do to sleep with a third girl in the same apartment where 2 other ones will be in, what do I have to be embarrassed about?'
The system was once again silent as it had no answer for Carl who was not falling for the system's attempts to divert his attention.
'So, you're not just a system, but a real person.'
'Probably hiding somewhere and looking at me from some sort of high-tech office or something, huh?' Carl asked with a smug face.
'That's good.' Carl finally told the system as he nodded with a smile.
[ And why is that so good? ]
'Because that means I can find you in the future, and pay you back for the annoying things you have done to me, all that mocking, all the missions that would end up in my death or baldness, I can pay you back for all of that after I find you.'
[ Emergency mission given! ]
[ The host is to forget what he has just learned. ]
[ Reward for completing is … error, nothing … error … ]
[ Punishment for not completing the mission is … error … error … ]
'Hahahaha, I actually got worried for a bit, but it seems like I truly hit a sore spot for you huh?'
'Don't worry, I won't be too mean, maybe.' Carl said with a huge grin as the system stayed silent for the next couple of hours.
Carl was mostly looking through the manual and doing the exercises that were present there.
Thanks to his training, he was now able to slowly improve the strength of his body and feel the flow of flux inside of it, which would give him an advantage in the future if he was to fight someone that was the same grade he was, but didn't know how to utilize flux proficiently.
Of course, Carl wasn't planning on fighting anyone if he didn't have to. He was a handler first, a villain second, he wanted to continue working as a handler, but the recent outbreak and the fight against the monsters had shown him that being more powerful and having the necessary strength to defend himself was very important.
Nobody could be completely sure that no outbreak would again reach a branch of the agency he was working at, nor could anyone be sure that heroes wouldn't find their branch and attack them.
In such dangerous situations, without sufficient strength, his rank in the agency, his connections, and his wealth, none of them would matter as the heroes wouldn't care. He had to grow stronger as the more powerful the villains under him became, the bigger of a target he would become as well.
It was rare for a handler to be attacked since their identities were kept a secret and were guarded well, but just like villains, the heroes had many different abilities, and the HA was very powerful, which allowed them to occasionally find the true identities of some villains and handlers before attacking them.
As evening came, Carla suddenly arrived and started preparing the living room. She placed numerous candles that had a very sweet and relaxing smell around the place and even started preparing dinner.
Angela arrived about an hour later, right when Carla was finishing dinner.
She had put on make-up and dressed nicely, but she was obviously a bit shy around Carl, especially since they weren't alone. Carla quickly hugged her and kissed her on the cheek before telling her she missed her as they didn't have a lot of time to talk in the agency.
She resumed her cooking while Carl and Angela sat on the sofa and watched the news which was showing the aftermath of the monster outbreak.
They had done a good job getting as much info as they could and showing not only the immense damage that the outbreak had caused, destroying large trees and making the area they had passed one that had nothing except for soil on it now.
They also showed what happened inside the region after the group of monsters managed to get in and started causing mayhem before being stopped by Carl and the others in front of the agency.
The fact that it was a branch of the VSA was reported, and the people who had been fighting the monsters were shown, but for some reason, their faces were blurred out and it was impossible for anybody to figure out who they were as Carl had noticed how the colors of their clothes shown was different as well.
"Was this done by the VSA?" Carl softly asked as he stared at the TV.
"Yes, to be more exact, it was done by an SSS-grade villain."
"As our identities are very important and couldn't be shared as that would mean we would no longer be able to walk around, each time an outbreak or something else occurs where some villains or handlers have no other choice but to show themselves without wearing a disguise, a powerful villain that could hide the identity would use an ability to hide the identity of those that had fought."
"Sometimes it is an SSS-grade villain, sometimes an SS-grade, but never one lower ranked than that."
"I see, that's good to know."
"Of course it is, otherwise, you would have to put on a disguise at all times and never go out normally," Carla said with a chuckle before she put the food on the table.
'Isabella will return later, it seems she is being quite diligent with her work, she is even working overtime during her first day.' Carla told Carl telepathically as they all sat down to eat.
'That girl, she really is doing everything she can to stay away from the apartment, huh?' Carla thought as she took a bit of the large meal she had prepared.
Even though it seemed overkill, an entire chicken, more than 1kg of beef, potatoes, salad, some rice, and some soup, for Carla and Carl, who were superhuman, this was actually just enough.
As they were eating, Carl noticed how the smell of the candles, coupled with the food and drinks, was slowly making him think differently.
His thoughts went a bit hazy and he felt how something was getting quite excited down there.
He shot a glance at Carla and stared at her for a moment as the latter smiled at him.
'Dammit, she is doing it again.'
'I didn't use my powers on you or Angela, just like I promised.' Carla told him telepathically again as she flashed a smile at him before she continued talking. She was sitting right opposite him, and Angela was right next to him.
Suddenly, Carl felt something touch him, and it didn't take long for him to notice that it was Carla's foot which was already between his legs.
He simply glanced at her again as Carla was talking to Angela. Both of the women were seemingly having a good time and were talking a lot, but it didn't take long for Angela to glance down and see Carla's foot.
Her eyes slightly widened as she blushed.
Suddenly, she looked at Carl before she got a bit closer to him.
"Hmmm, what is wrong Ang-"
Before Carl was able to finish his sentence, Angela suddenly leaned forward and kissed him. She continued kissing him, and he didn't know if it was because of the influence of the food and candles, or because of what Carla had been doing before.
They had finished eating a couple of minutes ago and were simply chatting and drinking, and Carl wasn't expecting Angela to suddenly do something like that.
"Well, look who is eager to start," Carla said as she suddenly got up from her chair with a smile.
