Chapter 21: The gift from Caleb

George discovered something. The Demon King of the day always deliberately showed him his left wrist. Just like a peacock showing off its feathers, he was intentionally displaying something to others. Timothy pointed at a tray containing a red coral tree, saying, "Hmm, this is good, have someone send it to Sylvia later." As he spoke, Timothy waved his hand, his arm resting on George's shoulder, picked up a gauze dress, and asked, "What do you think of this dress, does it suit Sylvia?" George glanced at the arm resting on his shoulder and said, "The Demon Queen is unparalleled in beauty, any dress suits her perfectly."

"Hmm.....then let's send this dress along with it." As Timothy spoke, he swung the hand resting on George's shoulder, wishing he could slam his left wrist into George's eyes to make him notice. When the Demon King of the demon clan got married, the humans and the fairy clans did not send gifts because of the war. The demon clan does not have the custom of wedding gifts, so Timothy didn't mind this lack of respect from the other two clans.

But after the three-way war ended, some people from the human and fairy clans started to send gifts to the Demon King in the name of various titles, showing their hearts of allegiance. Among them, the most were those who used the excuse of "congratulating the Demon King on his queen." So much so that Timothy was nearly half a year into his marriage when he received his wedding gifts. The gifts sent by the two clans were not only items, but also people.

However, all the demon clan knew about their Demon King's family status, and those beauties who were given as gifts were turned away by the demon generals guarding the border before they arrived at the demon capital. Today, a large batch of gifts arrived at the demon capital, and Timothy had people present them to see if there was anything good that could be sent to Sylvia.

Although Timothy verbally said to choose a few good ones, in actuality he sent one for every one he looked at. He looked left and right, thinking that these things were all good, so he sent them all to Sylvia, because to him, all the treasures of the world could not compare to Sylvia's smiling face.

When he heard Timothy say to send all these things to the bedroom, George hesitated for a moment, but still planned to speak: "Your Majesty, there is a gift..."

Before he could finish speaking, Timothy interrupted: "George, do you think this bracelet looks good?" As he spoke, he picked up a delicate red agate bracelet from a golden tray and compared it on his left wrist: "This bracelet looks good, and it's red, red suits Sylvia best."

George knew what Timothy was doing. Timothy was showing off. Their Demon King hates restraint and usually doesn't wear any accessories. If it wasn't for his concern about his image in the queen's heart, he might even be casual with his clothes. A thousand years ago, no matter the occasion, the Demon King would only wear a pair of pants and a belt around his robe, allowing the robe to hang loosely on his body to show off his strong chest and abs.

But today, as soon as George saw him, he noticed a string tied to his left wrist. It didn't take a thought to know that this was something given to him by the Demon Queen. Timothy loves to show off his love for Sylvia in front of others, and he will not stop until he achieves the goal of making others envious.

So George sighed and asked knowingly: "What is it that your Majesty wears on your wrist? You usually don't wear jewelry, do you?" "Is this a bracelet made of string? This bracelet looks simple and unpretentious, but it's woven very delicately. The person who wove it must have been sincere to create such a gift full of sincerity."

Achieving his goal, Timothy laughed and said, "This? This is a gift from Sylvia." "She insisted on cutting my hair yesterday, saying she wanted to weave it with her hair into a pair of bracelets." Timothy's face was full of "Oh, my wife wants to play, so I have to play with her. Because I love her so much. Do you understand? Oh, you don't understand, because you don't have a wife. It's a pity, fortunately I have a wife, not only do I have a wife, I also have a token of love made by my wife" expression.

"We wove it for a day yesterday." Timothy said, "She was so dedicated, I couldn't let this sincerity go unrewarded, so I wore it." Timothy waved his hand and boasted, "Although this bracelet is not a fine object, the affection contained in this bracelet is worth more than gold, it can be considered a treasure in the world."

Hearing Timothy's words, George looked at the bracelet. He really couldn't believe such a simple thing could take Sylvia, who was proficient in weaving and embroidery, a whole day to weave. Timothy was exaggerating the facts. Indeed, Sylvia took the initiative to make this bracelet, but it took her less than an hour to complete it.

After Timothy's boasting, once he was satisfied, George said, "Your Majesty, there's something I think I should report to you." Timothy was in a good mood: "What is it? Speak." "Caleb of the Arcadia Magic Academy has also sent a gift to the Demon Queen....and to you." George didn't mean to ruin Timothy's good mood, but if he didn't say it, this batch of gifts would be sent to Sylvia: "It's a woman's wedding dress."

Before George spoke, Timothy was happy and comfortable. After George spoke, Timothy's face became extremely gloomy, every part of his face was displaying his anger, and his aura revealed due to anger was making people shiver. "What wedding dress?" Timothy's eyes rolled with furious flames, each word he said seemed to be forced out of his teeth: "——Bring it to me!"

George waved his hand, and said to the demon guard next to him, "Bring that box up." Moments later, a mahogany box was carried to Timothy by the demon guard. The demon guard opened the box, and a square, neatly stacked, woman's wedding dress came into Timothy's view. The wedding dress was red, like a mosquito's blood on a pure white cloth, the more Timothy looked at it, the more it irritated him.

He picked up the wedding dress, looked at it again and again, and after making sure that this was indeed a wedding dress, he almost couldn't resist tearing up this disgusting thing.

"What does that bastard Caleb mean by this!" Timothy yelled in anger, "I'm getting married, and he sends my bride a wedding gift?!" He was so incensed that his voice cracked on the words 'wedding gift'.

Tossing the wedding gift into the box, Timothy dismissively waved his hand and told George, "Throw it away, cut it to pieces, and burn it."

"What else did he send?" Timothy asked before continuing, "No matter what he sent, throw it all in the fire and burn it to ashes."

The Demon King was truly furious.

The Demon Guards did not dare to slack off. After hearing Timothy's words, they carried the box out.

But just as the two guards carrying the box stepped out the door, they heard Timothy say, "Wait, both of you, come back."

The two guards stopped in their tracks and turned around to face Timothy again.

"You guys.... nevermind..." Timothy opened his mouth, but couldn't figure out what to say.

Timothy stood there for a long time, hand on his hip, the other covering his face, lost in thought.

"Find a place to store this box."

After much struggle, the words squeezed out between Timothy's fingers, "I will... take it out... when the time comes."

Just from his voice, George could tell that Timothy's expression must be extremely gloomy.

"Sire, why have you suddenly changed your mind?" George asked after the guards had removed the box containing the wedding gift, "If it offends your sight, just get rid of it."

Still angry, Timothy responded with a touch of irritability, "It belongs to Sylvia."

"Although it was Caleb who sent it, it was meant for Sylvia. Therefore, it's Sylvia's," Timothy explained, "Only she can decide what to do with it."

That being said, Timothy dared not bring the wedding gift in front of Sylvia.

Caleb was Sylvia's unfinished love from her youth.

Timothy knew how much Sylvia used to like Caleb.

But he didn't know, and was afraid to know, how much feelings Sylvia still had for Caleb now.

Timothy never feared comparison with others because he believed that, if not perfect, he was the closest to perfection in this world, apart from Sylvia.

The Demon King of the demon clan exuded confidence in every aspect. He never denied himself, always unconditionally believing in himself.

He was not only the pride of the demon clan but also his own pride.

So, he never feared comparison with others because he knew he was the best.

But he was afraid to compare himself with Caleb.

He feared that in Sylvia's heart, he could not match Caleb.

This was the only thing this arrogant Demon King of the demon clan was not daring to compete with in his life.

Love can make one timid and self-conscious.

Even as powerful as he was, he lacked the courage to face love directly.
