Chapter 3: Naruto's first proper appearance

[Kei Uzumaki's POV]

I silently ate my food as I observed the other kids in the room. All of them are so full of life and innocence that chatted to each other. None aware of my calculating and lifeless gaze on them.

I chose to sit at the rear back of this room for this reason. Observation. I wanted to see what orphaned children were like in this world as well as the normal children. Of course, there wasn't only that reasoning.

Because I had been observing a child that was named Sai. A child that will now leave this orphanage and become a root shinobi. If what I remember is correct. Then, soon after that, me and Naruto will be kicked out of the orphanage under the pretence that we are the Kyuubi incarnate.

'Fools the lot of them.' I mentally called out in my mind as I stopped that line of thought and began thinking of how I should start my chakra training.

The starting point needs to be Chakra Control, and then I need to find a way to learn the Kage Bunshin and start learning Jutsu from there.

Of course, that was after I learned what affinities I held or if I just held Wind as one. It would be annoying to have to train other elements that aren't my affinity but I could do it.

A loud noise echoed throughout the room, reverberating and knocking me out of my random thoughts.

Seriously, why did I monologue that?

A blonde spiky haired kid with Azure blue eyes locked with my own violet eyes as I gazed back. Naruto had walked over to me then and sat down.

"Hey Nee chan." Naruto said quietly as I greeted him back, engaging in a conversation with him. I simply kept the flow of the conversation as I ate. I needed to start work on his own training soon.

I thought about the particular martial arts styles Naruto could learn to utilize to perfection. First was kickboxing, then boxing, probably a few techniques from judo, then I just have to get him used to dodging.

My next line of thought was Chakra Control and how I was going to train Naruto in it. Of course, that was after I got a decent foothold into it.

My 3rd line of thought was one I considered starting today, which was having him study many topics.

My 4th line of thought was when I started underlying all of the things I would need to train him in. Starting from physical strength, agility, endurance, and technique, then having his mental abilities to be sorted. Studying, meditation, creative or abstract thinking, critical thinking, logical reason, and emotional control.

I was somewhat glad that I spent several days making Naruto completely trust me now. Of course, he was already trusting of me being the older sister. Although I made sure to make him more trusting of me to the point that I could get him to study.

It was with that in mind and the empty plate of food that I took Naruto to the orphanage library. Upon reaching the location, I started picking out books of basic mathematics, Japanese, and other various books, laying them all out on a rectangular table. There were at least 20 books spread out on the table as I quickly arranged them in the order I was going to have Naruto study.

"Okay, Naruto, I want you to read this book first before we get to anything else." I gestured to the book titled [Subtraction, Addition, Multiplication and Division explained] I expressed clearly.

"Nii chan, why do you want me to read and not play?" Naruto curiously asked me, to which I responded.

"Shinobi and Kunoichi are not just strong they are smart as well, Naruto, and as such, to be a good Shinobi or Kunoichi is to be both at the same time." I articulated in a doubtless manner.

With that, I had basically told him that Shinobi needed to be smart to be successful in the career. He naturally would find out how knowledgeable one has to be in order to be counted as a good Shinobi.

He took my words to heart as he opened the small book of numbers. I went and grabbed the book I was reading earlier today before stopping. I remembered seeing another book that could help me more right now.

[Chakra theory] was the name of the companion I now grasped firmly. The edges felt smooth to the touch, and the handbook itself looked decent with a Yin Yang symbol on it surrounded by a bluish cyan like colour with the title being purple colored.

Naturally, I was confused by this being here but decided that since it wasn't called [Applied chakra theory]. Then, I could only assume that it was because the book was all about theoretical knowledge and did not teach us how to put the stuff inside to practical use. Which does not answer the question of why it is in the orphanage in the first place.

I sat down on a wooden chair and cracked upon the book as I pondered on Naruto's training plan more specifically on how I was going to train him.

———————————

I had spent the past hour familiarising myself with all of the concepts covered in the book. And I must say that it was keeping me more focused than any book in my past life ever did.

Mainly because of how detailed each explanation is on why doing this increases that part of the vital energies to create chakra. Physical energy, which is stamina, then there is spiritual energy, which is your mind. Naturally, the explanations of each method of chakra training are extremely well crafted.

Physical exercises, studying, meditation, training, gaining experience in fighting, and finally, you have the cheap method stimulants. Which only lasts for a few hours or days.

I peeked over at Naruto, who is completely engrossed in learning basic math that he didn't notice my gaze. I couldn't help but feel slightly proud of that fact.

I felt my lips curve upwards slightly. But as quickly as it happened, it vanished, and my face settled into its natural state. I was pretty sure I just smiled for the first time since I was 5 in my past life. 15 years exactly, huh?

I returned my gaze to the book, somewhat happy with making a different facial expression outside of my default one.
