Chapter 138: Don’t Fear The Reaper
*BANG!*
I aimed my tech double barrel shotgun at the door before releasing the trigger at full charge as it passed through the sealed door without damaging it, before smashing into the robots outside the door and instantly destroying them.
*Tink Tink, Chunk!*
I reload my shotgun again before taking aim at the door still, "You can explain later why your doing this Sasha, just get it done fast so we can get out of here." I said before holding the trigger to begin charging up my next shot.
She looked at my back with a complicated look before shaking her head and slapping her cheeks, "Alright! All I need is five minutes to do what I need here, just hold them off until then!" She said before she began to upload these confidential files onto the N54 News Tipline.
"5 minutes? Well lucky you I could hold them off for 30 if I really wanted." I said as I connected to the camera outside the door as a small platoon of them began to show up as they began to run up the stairs.
*BANG!* I let off another blast through the wall now as to where they were running to as I cut through them like swisscheese but more were coming by the second.
"Better get serious then!" I say before putting the tech shotty onto my back before I pulled out a Tech precision rifle before charging my shots and shooting them down one after another.
I'm very lucky it's dumb robots as these shots wouldn't do much of anything when they penetrate surfaces on normal people wearing even the most basic of body armor, not including Cyberware that gives the body natural armor to boot, plus tech guns are the major weakness to robots after all so I was making quick work of them.
"60%! Hifumi do you got an escape plan?!" She said as she was focusing hard so the upload would complete as soon as possible.
"Sasha! I'm going to need you to trust me alright?" I say as I look back at her before returning to shoot all the incoming robots still but there getting damn close to busting down the door.
"Whatever you do Hifumi I'll stick through to the end!" She says with a completely earnest and serious look on her face as me sticking with her when I had no need too already gained her complete trust in me.
"Good to hear!" I say before vaulting over the desk as I see a big motherfucking mech bull rush straight for the doors.
"90%!"
*KABOOM!*
"Targets spotted! Beginning neutralization!" It said in a robotic voice as it pulled out its miniguns but then-
*Crzzt zap zap*
Suddenly both of its weapons malfunctioned and couldn't shoot us, "Nice one Sasha!" I shout out before hopping over the desk as I pulled out my electric mantis blades out from my forearms before I leapt into the air and stabbing them staright into the oversized mech.
It twitched a bit before slumping over and falling back while its body blocked the door so the robots couldn't get to their target as the mech was now blocking the way.
"It's done!" I hear Sasha shout as she smiles and seems relieved that she was able to accomplish what she came here for with the data on that file.
"Alright now let's get the fuck out of this place! Big guy won't block them for long!" I say as I jump over the desk and seeing her planting some C4 but then a spotlight hit us from outside the window.
"Haha! Sasha get on my back and hold on for your life! This is going to be a bumpy ride!" I say as I kneel down as she gets on my back as I pull out a pistol before shooting out the window.
I then focus on the pilot of the flying AV and force reboot his optics making him lose his sight and turn the AV sideways.
*KRRRRZZZZZZTTTTT*
Time slows down for me as I tense up my leg before running with all my might as I leap over the edge and straight to the AV as I unsheathed my mantis blades and use them to get a grip on the AV before using the other one and prying the cockpit door open.
Then I grabbed the pilot and tossed him out before getting in and putting Sasha in the seat right next to mine as I broke the transmitter of this AV before my Sandi ran out.
*KRRRRZZZZZZZTTTTTT*
"Huh? Wha-What just?… Where?…" Sasha said clearly disoriented by being moved at such high speeds without having her own Sandi so everything that just happened was a blur to her.
*KABOOM!* Suddenly she saw the place where we were just at exploding while we were pulling away in the AV that was watching us originally.
"You can ask later! We need to get out of here, and I know a place we can go while the heat dies down." I say as I turn the AV in the direction of the Badlands as I fly it as fast as this thing can go.
But my worries weren't needed as breaking the transmitter Biotechnica couldn't follow the location as we flew through the sky's and going around all the no fly zones as we exited the city and towards the badlands.
About 10 minutes after leaving the city limits before we reached a small little ghost town in the middle of nowhere as we landed in the middle of the cracked and neglected road before we turned it off and got out of the AV as we caught our breath since the coast is clear.
"Hooo….. Hehehehahaha! Man that was fun!" I said clearly enjoying myself after all of that was done, it was thrilling to say the least since it's been awhile since I needed to be in a somewhat serious gunfight like that.
Most of the time it's too one sided for me to take too seriously in my opinion but that brings me back to the old days, well I mean I could use my powers and all that but I'm leaving those as last resort options to get through things and would rather use the things provided in this world so people don't come looking to me for questions while demanding answers in return, though I could easily come up with a convincing lie if need be.
"Hifumi, Where are we? Is this some ghost town?" Sasha said as she looked around at this little town we touched down in.
"You could say that, this is Rocky Ridge and it's been like this for some time from what I learned from the nomads I've worked with, speaking of which I should give them a call." I say before pulling up my Holo and calling a nomad friend.
After a bit they picked up, "Mitch you old dog, how you been?" I ask my nomad friend Mitch who is a part of the Aldacaldo Nomad group.
"Well if it isn't Hifumi, been a bit since we last saw ya, how's biz?" He said on the other end.
"Going good, but hey I was wondering, are you guys interested in buying an AV for your clan? I got one I klepped off from Biotechnica after my last Gig and I cant really use it for obvious reasons, so you guys interested?" I said as I leaned on the AV as Sasha just looked up at the stars that are visible out here.
"How did you- you know I'm not going to ask, real question how damaged are the goods?"
"Oh not that bad, just smashed the tracking transmitter, a few stab wounds from mantis blades and the AV door is hanging a bit loose from being forced opened when I took it over but besides that everything else is in working order." I list the damage to Mitch.
"Hmm, well that's not really that bad, I was expecting some bullet holes or electric wiring broken here or there, but you got it in almost perfection conditions from what you say, tell me where your at and after I check it over I'll give you what I can offer." Mitch said giving his side of the deal.
"That's fine by me, come on over to Rocky Ridge, you'll find us there." I said sending him the coords.
"Got it, should be there in a few minutes, see you then." He says before hanging up the call as I go out and look up at the night sky with Sasha.
"It's beautiful, I haven't seen the sky like this in a…. Very long time…." Sasha says sadly as she remembers something from her past.
"Sasha…. Now do you want to tell me what Securicine has to do with you and your past?" I say as I turn to look at her as I see her wipe tears from her eyes before looking at me.
She then nodded, "Alright, let me tell you about my past and why what you did back there ment so much to me…."
