Chapter 167: AWG: The Emperor

As I came in I saw the club had been remade to seem more typical to a Japanese tea garden instead of a club, though one thing did stay the same and that was the piano that Hanako Arasaka was currently playing on while Saburo was sitting in a seiza position while softly drinking tea.
"River Flows in You, a beautiful song though it does invoke a sense of melancholy in the notes that it plays." I said in fluent Japanese as I sat in the seiza position before Saburo.
He didn't say anything as he enjoyed his tea while a servant came and poured me a cup of green tea as well.
I slowly drank my tea as I listened to Hanako play the piano in the background, I was being polite as I waited for Saburo to speak.
After finishing his tea he put it to the side before he opened his eyes and looked at me, "Kisuke Yamada, he was your great grandfather correct?" He said starting off with a topic I would have been confused about had I paid the system to alter the world to an extent.
What I did was make a background for me and Hifumi that seemed legit in the inhabitants of this worlds information as it was needed or way to many questions would come up as to who we really were.
The whole story that the AWG was a shipping company before I took over was true in the eyes of the world as the AWG did exist in this world that was run by my 'father' but it was a rather small merchantile company and after his death it was given over to me his 'son' to run the company and everything else is what has happened so far.
"Yes, he was a fighter pilot during World War 2, he won many medals from the emperor of the time for his service, but his plane was shot down in the Philippines, he miraculously survived but was taken as a Prisoner of War by the Americans and was out of the war until the end, from what I heard from my father he would have fought back but both of his arms were shattered in that crash not giving him the chance to fight back and was brought home after the wars end." I go to explain a bit of history that I knew about what happened to Kisuke Yamada in this worlds timeline.
He slowly nodded before looking at me, "I'm not surprised, that man was a fighter to the end…. If it wasn't because of him I wouldn't have been able to get to the airbase after my plane was nearly shot down in an arial dog fight…. Somethings i omitted from my past that few know about is if he and several others hadn't intervened while I retreated I would have died…. At the time I was resentful that I lived as I couldn't die with honor and when the war ended all hope seemed lost as the world lost color to me…. But I pulled myself out of that state and here we are today." He said as he looked at me once more.
"At the time I had no appreciation for what your great-grandfather did for me but now I do, and while yes my company had spies infiltrating your company along with many Netrunners dying trying to get your companies data, it wasn't until I was informed of everything that we knew that I called my daughter to make this meeting, one I hope to make beneficial between our companies." He said before looking down and drinking his green tea slowly while not only i but even Hanako was so surprised that she stopped mid-play on the piano from what Saburo just said.
".. Did I hear that right? Saburo Arasaka wishes to make a mutually beneficial partnership with an up and coming major corporation? All for repaying the debt you owed my great-grandfather?" I say with a bit of incredulity, even Hanako decided to cut in.
"Father, even so the AWG has caused major damage to our company you-" but Saburo held up a hand and Hanako instantly went silent.
"I understand your concerns and if it was any other family I wouldn't easily forgive slights put on my family or my company, but this once I can for the sake of an old war comrade forgive the transgressions of his great-grandson." He said before putting down his hand as the look in his eyes seemed more serious from before.
"Even the fact that you stole the schematics of Soulkiller and used it to start making your 'Second Chance' program for your health services to bring those killed back to life in brand new bodies, something we were going to do in a few years time, but you made it available for anyone so long as they had the money and not exclusive to the ultra elite of society." He said placing his hands in his lap as he looked at me.
"Be that as it may, I'm not going to cancel that plan even if you asked, I just took the initiative to complete the project and patent it before you could, and I know your not going to go out of your way to show the years of using soulkiller on your enemy Netrunners to prove that it was your product first, though Militech knows you made it originally they believe it gone, you tell the world it exists that will make people across the globe hate Arasaka more than they already do." I said back as a counterpoint which seemed to stop him in his tracks.
"And your correct, revealing the SoulKiller to the world at large would be a bad PR stunt that we do not need as it may effect the stock price of our company, and even if for a short time that wouldn't be beneficial as a whole, and while those in the higher echelons of society and the most high grade Netrunners know of its existence but either they are silent due to benefits, persuasion, violence or in most cases putting them in a shallow grave…" he said before pulling out a cloth from within his yukata and taking his glasses before wiping them off.
"But let's get to the main topic at hand, Arasaka wants to be in partnership with the 'Titan' 'Relay' & 'Odyssey' projects." He said as he put his glasses back on his eyes.
"Funny, I assumed we were only discussing the Titan Project, seems your daughter deemed it necessary to neglect to inform you had knowledge of the other two." I said looking at her with a look of displeasure before looking back at Saburo.
"But fine, let's talk business."

"Haaa…. What a pain in the ass that was…" I say before I slump over on my couch after having that 'nice' long chat with Saburo about the details of our cooperation.
In the end it was beneficial, after seeing the few areas that hade hidden text that would have been unfavorable for the AWG in the long run being pulled from the deal to actually make it fair for me.
With project Titan being the creation of Titan Mechs similar from a game I never played called Titanfall with the MassRelays to be built in the next decade to help humans travel from our solar system to Alpha Centauri at Light Speed and the Oddessy being the ship for said colonization of a new earth like planet outside our solar system.
With there cooperation my company will make a lot of bank off of this, not only that but Arasaka secured us a location in the Crystal Palace along with offering buildings for me to set up the AWG across the globe as well.
Once those are all set up this world will be the primary income of us getting SP.
And with the world of One Piece being the second one to earn us bank but now I had some other things to think about in the long run after our mission here is set and done.
"Now then, time to set our sights on Sin City, and it's best to call the crew up personally."
It's time the entire crew knew who Hifumi really is.
