Chapter 169: Winds of Change
"Sin City, the city of vices and crushed dreams, and we are going to fuck it all up." I say looking down at the city from one the many rentable high rise villas that everyone in the crew, including Sasha is staying at.
"Yo Hifumi! Stop looking out at the city! This jacuzzi is fucking Nova man!" Pilar called out to me as I turned and looked at everyone who appeared to be enjoying a beach vacation here in this villa.
"Alright, alright, toss me a cold one then." I say heading on over as I was only in my trunks while Maine, Falco and Pilar were in the jacuzzi where as Rebbeca, Dorio and Briar were playing in the pool with Kiwi and Sasha were lounging on loung chairs while working on their tans, well at least Sasha was Kiwi was under a large umbrella reading something while smoking with her mouth faceplate and not her mask.
As to why we were in a nice and fancy villa set on the top floor of one of the many skyscrapers that looked down on Vegas and the Strip well that's because I felt like it and besides we needed to relax a bit before the gig started.
To sum up what we are doing is that we are waiting for a strike team to hit ZetaTech's main HQ in Chicago as that will cripple their overall network as they aren't an huge international company and have most of their offices in the NUSA with only two outside the country that being in UK and Germany.
How are we going to get away with basically destroying an entire company? And mind you they have at least ten other places where they operate out of across the NUSA, but to simply put it requires plenty of evidences and heavy bribes.
Evidence of all the dark shit they have done on NUSA soil and paying off the government so they don't intervene in what is considered a hostile take over.
So they can't hire MiliTech to protect them and with the partnership between AWG and Arasaka they can't call on help either and with this being a sudden and near simultaneous assaults nation wide they won't be able to call any of the other MegaCorps for help either.
In the end ZetaTech will cease to exist in the NUSA and all properties will be owned by the AWG which will be repurposed into many more MegaStores.
Soon enough there will be one in every state and then worldwide, but that's for him to worry about.
As for me and the crew we are here to relax and have fun as we won't be leaving Vegas for a week even if the job is tomorrow night, we came all the way out here on AV's so of course we are going to have fun.

It's been a few months since I started to work as a Merc for the AWG and well I got to say it hasn't been bad, not including that most of my work has ended up with me needing to go and kill people but that's just how life in NC is.
Mom was…. Not happy with that and if we weren't recieving so many benefits by working with the AWG she would have definitely made me stop.
But after she had a long conversation with Mrs. Kie Yamada, who was the vice president of the company, she decided to not bother me about it as me and her were both on the High Priority Second Life Plan because of what I do.
And as the name suggests, should I Flatline in anyway all the memories and everything that made me, well me, would be transferred to a brand new body, I even saw this clone of myself and while it was freaky at first I knew that I was safe, though I only get one extra life so I'm not going to go out doing stupidly risky things just because even if I die I have a back up because that would be stupid, it's just good to have it as a safety measure more than anything.
But now today was the day, today was an extremely big gig that I'm taking part in that will have me leaving NC to head for Chicago.
The mission is simple but at the same time dangerous as we are going to raid and completely destroy ZetaTech HQ, why I have no real clue but I'm getting a preem 100k Ed's for doing this, the most I've gotten for a single job so far.
Most of the time I'm a Freelance Merc so I'd go help out in different districts of NC with Gigs they need done, it was grunt work but the pay wasn't that bad, and I had an easier time with the Heywood gigs at least as even though I was a Santo Domingo kid most of my younger years was hanging out with the kids of the Valentinos.
My pops was a cop but he was Heywood born so he had close ties with the Valentinos and so I hung out with them even though mom didn't like that, but after he died on the job one day I didn't hang with the Valentinos anymore as mom wanted me to be a big name Corpo at Arasaka but now I'm making a bit of a name for myself as a Merc while we live in Paradise.
Now I was chromed out of my mind as I had some of the latest tech thanks to working for the AWG a Military grade Sandi, reinforced bones, Gorilla Arms combined with Projectile Launch Systems and the works, though having all this chrome doesn't mean it's free as I can't quit the AWG until I pay it off but since boss man has a good impression on me there's no interest rates for 5 years and I think after a few big gigs like this I'll have all this payed off and then I can afford having the nicest of threads and the most Nova of rides at that.
But right now I was waiting on the rooftop of AWG HQ's Parking Garage for the Military Grade AV that was to take me and the group of guys I was to work with in my makeshift crew for this job.
Though soon I saw it approaching from the distance before it landed down in front of me as the door lowered revealing a person in a fully decked out suit of X-02 PowerArmor.
"Got everything you need kid?" The rather deep voice of a woman could be heard from behind the helmet said as she was easily holding up a huge Minigun in her arms.
"Got what I need." I say pulling out my tech shotgun from my back before opening my jacket to show my Nue pistol and Guillotine smg before putting them away.
"Alright, hop on in kid, we got a long ride before we get to our destination." She said before waving me in as I hopped into the AV to see only two others in as well.
"…. Jackie? What the hell are you doing here on this Op man?" I say after realizing one of the guys being Jackie who I came to know since I got to the El Coyote sometimes while I'm in Heywood.
"David? Oh man is it good to see another familiar face, but shit I knew you were doing Merc stuff but not things that are this heavy you know what I'm saying?" Jackie said as we both came in to give a shake before we pulled each other and patted our backs before pulling away.
"Well, while I'm mostly Freelance I do somewhat work for the AWG and all that biz, but they usually don't make me do anything unless shit gets real and well this is as real as it gets." I say with a shrug.
"Merda, this shit is way above my pay grade, but I'm helping out my pal get out of the shit he was thrown into right now, speaking of which, V this is David, David V." Jackie said introducing us to each other.
And soon enough the AV took off and out of NC as we headed for our next destination Chicago.
