Chapter 32: What's Wrong With Your Brain?

"Teacher Kyōichi, Squad One?"

Kakashi was stunned for a moment.

The next moment, he saw Kyōichi arriving with three people - Asuma, Yūhi Kurenai, and...the 5-year-old Uchiha Shisui?

Kakashi was immediately unhappy about this. While Shisui may be a genius, he was also a genius - graduating from the Academy at 5, becoming a chunin at 6, and now having been a chunin for 3 years already. A squad like this, he could handle alone!

"I didn't want to come down originally, but you guys were fighting so terribly, with no teamwork at all. I feel like I should teach you what teamwork is," said Kyōichi, staring straight at Kakashi.

He was clearly targeting Kakashi specifically.

Foolish as Obito was, would Kakashi be as foolish?

No.

Kakashi just looked down on Obito, feeling that working with him would only drag down his own combat power. In fact, in their previous missions, he had always made decisions that benefited the mission regardless of anything else.

That was far too cold-blooded!

Likewise, he thought too highly of himself.

Noticing Kyōichi's gaze, Kakashi let out a cold snort, feeling quite unhappy inwardly.

"Let's begin. Fight with all you've got, I know some medical ninjutsu and can handle general injuries," said Kyōichi indifferently.

Then, he and Minato Namikaze instantly teleported away.

"Go!"

Kakashi wasted no time.

In the Academy he had been the strongest of his peers, and over the years he got stronger, he didn't believe that he couldn't handle Asuma's squad.

Neither side fell back. They threw shuriken to restrain each other while secretly observing and looking for an opportunity.

Kakashi wasn't rash.

He observed Obito, Rin and the enemy's states and positions, but...

Boom!

After a smoke bomb exploded, the three from "Squad One" rushed out from the smoke.

Shadow clones?

Kakashi quickly moved closer to Obito and Rin, but...

Clang!

A blade slashed at him from behind.

Shisui's real body.

The opponent was trying to use a decapitation tactic?

Kakashi dodged with taijutsu, immediately "understanding" their tactics.

Decapitation?

Perfect!

He drew out White Fang's tantō, slashing at Asuma.

"I'm coming!"

As Obito's voice rang out, he weaved signs and spat out a giant fireball.

Kakashi cursed inwardly, having to withdraw his attack to dodge the fireball.

At this moment, however, he suddenly sensed something amiss.

There were only two people!

Where was Kurenai?

"Watch out!"

The evading Kakashi hurriedly warned.

But it was too late.

At this moment, in the eyes of Kakashi, Obito and Rin, cherry blossom petals swirled.

Demonic Illusion: Tree Binding Death!

Kakashi immediately dispelled the genjutsu, and was about to help Obito and Rin out of it, when Asuma and Shisui began to weave signs -

Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu, Great Breakthrough!

The raging flames blasted towards Obito and Rin, still caught in the genjutsu.

There was no holding back at all!

Cold sweat beaded Kakashi's forehead. He formed hand seals as he descended, slamming a hand on the ground to raise an earth wall that blocked the flames.

By now, Rin and Obito had woken up.

However...

"You're dead!"

A voice rang out from behind Obito and Rin.

Asuma's shadow clone appeared

...

"Kakashi lost," Minato sighed.

Although still alive, with his teammates all dead, it would be difficult for Kakashi alone to defeat the three-man squad.

Unless he was far stronger than Asuma and the others.

But that seemed unlikely.

Was he faster? Useless.

While not as fast as Kakashi, Asuma and his team were decently quick too. Working together and defending as a trio, along with Kurenai's strong sensory skills, Kakashi had been on the back foot the whole time.

"The three of them are elite genin level, while skilled, Kakashi is still just one person. As long as Asuma and his team don't intend to kill Kakashi, there won't be an issue," said Kyōichi plainly.

If the three of them separated they would surely be defeated by Kakashi one by one, but together they could fend off a jōnin without much difficulty.

Right now, all Kakashi had was a fast bladework.

Despite weaker strength and chakra compared to the rest, Shisui's speed was almost on par with Kakashi's. Outmatched but not defeated, with Asuma and Kurenai's help, Kakashi could only gradually wear Shisui down.

Next, lightning flickered on Kakashi's tantō.

He had imbued it with Lightning Style?

Seeing Kakashi charge at Shisui, Kyōichi shook his head.

Underground, a shadow clone slipped by.

The final blow!

"White Fang's kenjutsu? Doesn't seem like it..."

"Kakashi is about to lose," said Kyōichi with a head shake.

Minato didn't think so, however.

Kakashi still had some ability. If he could defeat Shisui, he could slowly whittle down and kill the other two.

So this strike was critical.

Yet the next moment, he understood Kyōichi's confidence -

Kakashi's slash was blocked by Asuma!

Badly injured, Asuma's arm was slashed open, blood gushing out. Yet he had neutralized Kakashi's Lightning Style chakra with his Wind Style, while Shisui and Kurenai attacked Kakashi's real body and clone respectively.

The outcome was decided!

"Stop, Kakashi," said Minato.

Realizing defeat, Kakashi dispiritedly lowered his tantō.

He was unhappy.

If not for Asuma blocking for Shisui, that slash could have directly "killed" him.

"Unhappy? In squad combat, it has never been about one versus one. What use is your own strength, unless you're as strong as me or Minato-sensei? Don't spout nonsense," said Kyōichi, not boasting about himself.

With Flying Thunder God Technique, Minato was nearly invincible if he could get through your defenses. As for himself, with his Earth Spears and other jutsus, besides a few top ninja, he had basically nothing to fear.

Stomping weaklings was just effortless!

And Kakashi? A glass cannon!

Without his Sharingan now, his chakra was sufficient, but just barely. Compared to Kyōichi's Senju lineage, there was no comparison at all.

What made him think he could take on those three alone?

Kakashi's expression was ugly, but he knew Kyōichi's words were true. The reality was that they had lost badly to Asuma's team.

"Rin, your problem is taijutsu. You're a medical ninja, but your taijutsu can't be lacking. Even Tsunade of the Legendary Sannin, one of the greatest medical ninja, is extremely powerful. If nothing else, consider training in chakra scalpels," Kyōichi said, looking at Rin.

The girl was deeply affected, feeling useless against the three despite thinking herself decent.

Hearing her teacher's words, she froze for a moment, then thought carefully before reacting in surprise. "Sensei, do you mean using chakra scalpels to injure enemies?"

"Severing tendons, muscles, blood vessels, restricting their movement will do, right?" nodded Kyōichi.

Rin was stunned for a long time. She didn't know the chakra scalpel technique, but had heard of it. If not for Kyōichi's suggestion, she would never have thought it had offensive uses too.

Thinking it through, she couldn't find any flaws -

Who said chakra scalpels couldn't hurt people?

"Teacher, teacher, what about me?" Obito was anxious.

Rin got suggestions, what about him?

"You? Keep training, eat more bitterness, gain experience. There's something wrong with your brain."
