Chapter 2: The Beginning: The Dungeon Break
In this world where people fight against monsters that come out of the passages that connects other Dimensions to ours are called "GATE". The dwellings of monsters are called "DUNGEON" and those who hunt monsters are known as "HUNTER".
I am one of those who are called "Talentless", i don't even qualify as a F rank hunter.
"I'm Ryu"
I am in a job interview right now, i usually introduce myself like this to other people then the same misunderstanding would occur.
"Eh?, willow tree?."
"I am, but that isn't what i mean."
"Oh, then?
"My name is Kim Ryu"
Kim Ryu ( Bold King)-- my caretaker in the orphanage i grew up in gave me this name, that means to be a fearless leader though i myself don't understand what's the willow tree about, and i am nowhere near being a bold leader as well . However thanks to the name i was given i grew up to be a single and lonely man, in short. I am Kim Ryu, 20 years old and single. My hobby is reading web novels during lunch hour and on the subway.
"I'll just use my smartphone then"
I said as looking for someone to talk with. In a noisy subway, I raised my head in reflex. A pair of curious eyes were staring at me. They belonged to an employee from the same team as me ,although she was way more talented than me, there were even rumor's that she had men from the company driving her home everyday from work, she is courted by every man in the company as she is incredibly beautiful, her name is Hei Ryung, she said
"At this rate you might go inside your phone"
"Ah. Hello, nice to meet you ." I greeted her.
I can't believe I ran into the most popular women from the company
"Are you going home as well?"
"Yes. What about you Hei Ryung-ssi?"
"I got free earlier today." she sat down next to me while talking , a subtile scent came from her which made me nervous.
"I didn't know you take the subway as well?"
"Ah.." Hei Ryung made a dark facial expression.
"My bike is broken"
I was dumb founded from the words that came from her mouth.
"You commute by bike?"
"Yes, I seem to be lacking exercise these days"
"Ah, I see."
Hei Ryung smiled, looking at her closer i get why every guy in the company liked her. But it was none of my business , she lives in a different world from myself, then we both started staring at our phones i was going to read my novel until she...
"Hola"
"Eh?"
"Spanish , it means hello"
"....I see"
I didn't understand what was the use of learning words.
"By the way, what is Kim-ssi looking at?"
"Ah, me?..."
"Do you read novels too? i like to read novels like Murakami Haruki and Han Kang..."
"You won't know even if i say their name's"
"I've read a lot of novel's, who are the authors"
While saying that her gaze was fixed on my phone, at this time it was really hard to tell her my hobby is reading web novels like "World after the Fall"
"It's just a fantasy novel like Lord of the Rings"
Her eyes widened. "Aha . I've seen the Movie, it's good"
There was a long silence after that since i couldn't come up with a topic to talk about , she was looking at me as if expecting me to say something, i said.
"This is my last year, it has been a year since i joined the company time moves really fast." I realized i said something wrong when i saw Hei Ryung's expression.
I had forgotten that she had already been promoted to a full-time employee.
"Ah, seems like my congratulations are late. i'm sorry i should've have worked hard."
"Ah, no there is still the performance review and...."
"That...Kim-ssi"
"It's okay"
I gave a fake smile as trying to hide the feeling's in my heart, i wondered what if i had a different life from now on, i mean what if i changed the genre of my life... could i be the MC?.
"I am just someone like that"
I wasn't the MC but a solo person.
"Kim-ssi....
The life of a solo.. She had a serious expression, i waved my hand to show it was really okay.
"You are really good Kim-ssi"
"Yes?"
She seemed to have decided something as she turned back to studying Spanish, i gazed at her for a while then i thought came in my mind but it was soon interrupted....
Ding!
[Author: I will drop the gift at your house at 7p.m]
It was the author of "three ways to live on in the apocalypse" he said he would give me a gift , what was the gift?"

As i got off the subway train and reaching my home i saw a Live broadcast of a famous Hunter i stopped by to listen to it.
[Reporter: Adrian-nim we want to hear your though about the 3 month timer that has appeared on the Tower? since you are an S rank Hunter , many say you are almost close to strength with Hunter Alicia ?]
[Adrian: As the Association has already stated the information about this is closed to public, and the matter regarding that damn women Alicia i'm gonna showe her who's boss as soon as i reach the SS rank , now then SCREW OFF!]
[Reporter: But....]
!Crack.
"He's doing whatever he wants sigh...."
"I wonder what is the Timer for?"
Well its none of my business and i can't complain since i'm talentless people who hold power can do anything and no one would probably stop him from doing that since he is a Nation rank Hunter (S- Rank).
As i about to take a turn to my street i noticed that it was already 6:30 pm.
"There are 30 min left until the Author giving me the promised gift , i wonder what will it be?"
As i was guessing i saw a Gate in front of me. "When did this Gate form here? it wasn't here the day before .... moreover it's Black , there is about to be a Dungeon break here.. there is no time to wonder i must call the Hunters"
"Hello! there is a Gate brea.."
As i was calling the Hunter Association a Green Figure came out of the Gate, it was a Goblin holding a dagger, it Rushed at me as soon as it saw me i tried to dodge but i wasn't fast enough and got my arm stabbed , as it started to bleed ....
"It hurts!"
The Goblin laughed at me and rushed towards the kid behind me i jumped towards the kid to save her as i jumped the goblin nearly cut my back in half with its short blade , at the unexpected turn of events the goblin was about to fall down to the ground while it dropped its dagger, i rushed towards it to try to kill it , but i was naive... i was weaker
"AHHH"
I grabbed the dagger and tried to stab its head but it twist it's shoulder and stopped the dagger with its hand.
"Kwak"
I quickly kicked its arm with my foot
"Kiieek"
"....I killed it... "
As I looked up.
"The kid seems to have run away ... ugh im losing too much Blood "
As I was in immense pain Suddenly .
Thud!
An Orc hit me in the head from behind as I fell onto the ground i could no longer feel my body.
"Am i about to die?...is this it?"
"But, I haven't done so much things I wanted to..."
I said in a low and shaky voice as i was about to faint , then suddenly the Orc that was about to give the finishing blow was sliced in Half by a Hunter in a black robe that came from behind though, i did not know that .
As i was staring at a blue screen.
[System Loading... 80%...100%]
[Host is about to die Commence (Heal)]
[Kim Ryu Congratulations on Awakening]
[Say 'Status Window' in order to proceed]
It was at that moment the Genre of my life had changed
