Chapter 2: Chapter 2

The doctor looked at Shirou because he knew the reason why the patient was lying on the hospital bed.

His previously serious and calm expression eased a little and said gently

"Hello, I am your attending doctor, how do feel now? Are you feeling any discomfort?"

The boy first glanced at the doctor then silently looked away and shook his head wordlessly.

Shirou's eyesight is quite good, at the moment when the doctor opened the curtain the original hazy darkness was dissipated by the sun and his vision became extremely clear.

Whether if it was the furnishings in the ward, the curtains blowing in the wind, or the scene outside the window, everything is extremely clear.

Naturally, it also includes those twisted lines that cling to the surface of everything.

When seeing the doctor's body covered with dense lines Shirou visibly shook as multiple scenes filled his vision.

The scene of living human beings being torn apart like mince meat was indescribable—

"Ah... I know you feel uncomfortable now. You won't be able to accept reality for a while but as a doctor I have the responsibility to understand your current condition."

The doctor sighed and persuaded, "Your father probably doesn't want to see his child suffer"

"…"

Shirou didn't know how to answer the doctor as he was used to seeing death at a very young age.

Even before coming to this ward and this world, he witnessed the scene of his father's gradual death.

So, he didn't feel very sad but he also can't accept the reality said by the doctor.

But...

'How should I tell this doctor about the bizarre situation I encountered?'

Should he say

'I'm not from this world, my age is not as young as it seems—Is there more?'

Shirou shook his head helplessly deep in his heart.

'This is too absurd.'

Leaving aside whether the doctor would take what he said seriously, what's the point?

From the memories he just read, Shirou already knows the basic situation of this world.

At least according to those memories, the so-called world travel is also a thing equivalent to the Arabian Nights for the people here.

Compared with the him living in [Nagazora City] for the past few years, Shirou can barely find some corresponding clues from the knowledge he acquired from [Fuyuki City].

After all the culprit who caused him to suddenly appear in [Nagazora City] is a mysterious magus...

Even Shirou found it difficult to understand the methods used by that person

He still remembered that Kiritsugu told him magus were a dangerous group.

They were essentially gangsters that don't expose themselves to the general society.

It was no surprise that these people with dangerous personalities would do anything no matter the price.

Therefore, if the doctor was just an ordinary person who had nothing to do with the mysteries, the more danger he would be the more he learned.

"Thank you for your concern, doctor, but I'm really fine."

At this point, Shirou let out the depression in his chest.

Feeling uncomfortable and dizzy he forced himself to look at the doctor with a gentle face,

"When can I be discharged from the hospital?"

Looking at Shirou's amber pupils filled with inexplicable sleepiness, the doctor couldn't help but sigh softly.

In fact, after being sent to the hospital, they had already conducted a comprehensive examination of Shirou's body.

So of course he knew that there was no serious injuries on Shirou's body.

But the sudden news of his father's death caused an emotional turmoil that led to anemia and asphyxia which ultimately resulted in a coma.

However, looking at the boy's calm and plain face as if he had matured several years overnight, the doctor could clearly understand that the boy's mental state at this moment was not as normal as it seemed.

"Stay in the hospital for half a day. If there is no other problem with your body during the observation period we will help you go through the discharge procedures." The doctor said

"We have notified your father's colleagues that you are at the hospital."

"The policeman who will come to the hospital will take you home at noon if everything goes well."

"I'm sorry for causing trouble."

Shirou nodded, agreeing to the doctor's arrangement for him.

"Then let's do this first. If you have any questions, press the button next to the bed at any time and we will have the nurse come over immediately."

The doctor turned his body and turned his back to Shirou

"You've been sleeping for a long time, you'd better get out of bed and walk around for a while."

After finishing speaking, he pushed open the door of the ward and went out with two nurses who followed him.

Leaving Shirou sitting alone on the bed, looking thoughtfully at the doctor's back.

Half a day passed quickly, and the doctor did not lie to him.

The person who came to the hospital to pick him up was a young man with resolute features.

Just as the doctor said, this young man was his father's former colleague and was also the person who told him about Emiya Kiritsugu's death yesterday afternoon.

The young man in a police uniform pushed open the door of the ward.

When he saw Shirou his eyes showed pity.

He walked up to Shirou and extended his hand to the boy, stretching out his palm he said

"Let's go, Shirou."

However, the moment the man's hand was about to touch the immature palm, Shirou shuddered violently as his palm separated from the man's hand as quickly as an electric shock.

The man's expression froze slightly, and he smiled awkwardly.

His tone sounded quite frustrated

"Sorry... I made you feel uncomfortable."

Of course, he could understand the boy's disgust towards him, no one would have any good feelings for an outsider who brings news of the death of a family member, let alone a boy who is only in elementary school.

At least from the man's point of view, Shirou did not directly lose his temper unreasonably which is already a very restrained action.

But like the doctor, the man also completely misunderstood Shirou.

The reason why Shirou suddenly reacted so violently was not because he felt disgusted with men, but because the man's palm was also completely covered by thin black lines.

He shooked off the man's hand not out of disgust but out of fear.

Although it is groundless, Shirou always feels that those twisted thin black lines are all stained with something similar to the black sun that burned everything—even far surpassed it.

It has the breath of [death] on it.

Until he fully figured out what these strange thin lines were, Shirou could only try to avoid touching these things.

"..."

Of course, Shirou did not specifically explain this misunderstanding but shook his head gently after a moment of silence, and said in a calm tone

"Let's go, uncle."

Shirou didn't think it was the right choice to tell outsiders all this.

Even if he was misunderstood, or hated by them, Shirou was not concerned with his image in front of outsiders.

He is more concerned about whether they would be hurt because of his actions.

After all, if the truth of the matter is as he guessed, the culprit who caused this series of abnormal events is a dangerous magus.

The more these ordinary people know, the more dangerous it will be for them
