Chapter 54: What Time It Is? (Part 2)

Although Fire Dog was happy, its body was tired, and it soon lay down on the ground to sleep. Riley lifted it onto the bed, covered it with a blanket, and then went to his desk.

Training without a plan is inefficient. Riley decided to create a training plan.

First, wake up at 6 a.m. for a morning run to improve physical fitness and speed.

Fire Dog's speed needed improvement, so this was a priority. Without speed, it wouldn't matter how many moves you had; if you can't catch your opponent, you won't win.

Apart from speed training, the rest of the time would be devoted to practicing moves. Currently, Fire Dog knew Bite, Charge, Fire Fang, and Spark. Except for Charge, all the other moves were at the Novice level.

Riley decided not to continue training Bite since Fire Fang was a more powerful intermediate move.

Charge, on the other hand, was already at a Proficient level. It was only about 300 points away from reaching the next stage of proficiency. To achieve this before Special Admission Test at the St. Angela High School, Fire Dog would have to use Charge move around 40 times every day.

Adding this to daily speed training, Fire Fang, and Spark, it was too much for a Fire Dog that was less than a month old.

Riley thought for a moment and changed the 40 to 10 in the training plan.

Over the next nine days, the focus would be on improving speed and getting Fire Fang and Spark to a Proficient level.

To succeed, one must endure hardship. Riley looked at the training plan in his hand, wearing a satisfied smile.

...

...

The following morning.

"Why haven't you gone to school yet?" Riley's mother asked with a stern face.

Riley glanced at the time: 7:54 AM. He had overslept.

The 6:00 AM morning run plan had died before it even began.

"Mom, why haven't you left for work?" Riley countered.

He hadn't figured out how to tell her mother about wanting to take a leave from school to focus on self-study and Fire Dog training for the remaining days.

If he were a top student, he could have easily explained his intentions, but in his mother's eyes, he was a scumbag student.

Who would expect a scumbag student to suddenly study well once they left school?

Riley hadn't planned to keep hiding it from his mother, but he wanted to wait until after the Special Admission at the St. Angela High School.

Usually, his mother left for work earlier than he did, so he didn't expect his late wake up would lead him to the unexpected trouble.

"What a blunder..."

"Today, we have a guest who's reserve staying for the day. They're leaving in the afternoon. It's still early now. How about you? How could you wake up so late, and it's already past 8:10 AM, which is when classes start. What time is it now?" Her mother expressed her dissatisfaction.

"I'm leaving right away!" Riley assured her, grabbing a piece of bread from the table and taking a bite.

He put on his shoes, picked up Fire Dog, and hurriedly opened and closed the door, all in one swift motion.

Outside, Riley let out a sigh.

He had planned to return home and rest after his morning training, but it seemed he would have to spend the morning outside.
