Chapter 2: Broken Dreams
After a few minutes everyone arrived, and perform a quick warmup.
"I don't even know why you bother Tyler, you'll still suck either way, warm up or no warm up" Billy the school's Bully mocks as he stood behind Tyler
TYLER: Leave me alone Billy ( He replied not turning around)
BILLY: Pfft, there's not even a chance you're gonna make it in the team , The coach just kept you in the team probably out of pity (Billy continued)
Tyler's friends take notice of what was happening
CARLOS: Hey quit it Billy!
BILLY:Make me!
Both boys glare at each other angrily, the coach oblivious to what was happening continued warming up along the kids.
Practice begins and as usual Tyler lacks behind in agility and speed.
Half and hour later, Tyler has the ball but loses it to another player when suddenly Tyler gets hit from behind, falling to the ground and bruising his arm badly.
TYLER: owww (He groaned in pain)
The coach blows his whistle instructing to stop practice before jugging over to Tyler
TYLER: My armmm (Tyler sobbed)
The Coach rushes off after seeing Tyler's arm was bleeding...Billy; Tyler's classmate and school bully walks over with a smirk on his face
BILLY: (Scoffs) aww, is the little baby gonna cry?...wimp! (He mocks)
Just then Carlos pushes Billy hard from behind falling him to his knees
BILLY: oww! (He exclaimed in pain) why'd you do that!?...owww
CARLOS: what?, Don't tell you're gonna cry (Carlos mocks).
Billy gets up about to launch at Carlos but hesitates at the sight of the Coach coming.
COACH: Why are you two fighting?
BILLY: Coach!, Carlos pushed me!
BENJAMIN: But that's because Billy was the one who pushed Tyler!
COACH: Oh so you're all just pushing each other now?, Detention,both of you, first thing Monday morning....Tyler,Billy come, let me attend to your wounds.
Both kids follow the coach to the nursing office where their wounds are attended to, Tyler's arm are wrapped with bandages
COACH: (To Tyler) Would you still like to continue practicing or should I call your parents to come pick you up?
TYLER: I would like to go home
BILLY: Hmph!
COACH: (To Billy) Why are you still here?, Get back to the field!
BILLY: B..But I'm hurt too,no one asked me If I'd like to go home (he said folding his arms)
COACH: Oh come on,you just had a mild bruise on you knees, To the field!..now!
BILLY: (Stomps out)
COACH: I'll go call your parents
TYLER: Okay.
Tyler goes back to his friends.
BENJAMIN: So your arm's hurt pretty bad huh?
CARLOS: oh please, It wasn't such a hard fall, I think Coach overdid it with the bandages.
TYLER: Maybe,but it was bleeding pretty bad.
BENJAMIN: Yeah, probably because of you have really soft skin
CARLOS: Oh yeah heh, I forgot about that
The Coach is back on the field, he calls Carlos to the side to talk to him
TYLER: I hope Carlos doesn't get into too much trouble because of me
BENJAMIN: I just hope he doesn't get suspended soon, he's been a bit too violent these days
TYLER: Yeah but he was just defending me,Billy is a jerk
BENJAMIN: I know, But he gets into fights alot and he sure does throw mean punches... I would know
TYLER: Yeah let's not talk about that
Carlos was only reprimanded for his behavior and the coach warns him about the consequences for violent nature, moments later,he walks back to meet his friends
TYLER: what did he say?
CARLOS: Eh, the usual (he shrugged)
BENJAMIN: You should have just let Billy be,it's a real possibility you could get kicked off the team for being too aggressive
CARLOS: You're overreacting Benny and you know I can't stand bullies, especially the one that picks on my friend
TYLER: We just don't want you getting into trouble..and thanks by the way
CARLOS:Forget it.(he replied)
A couple minutes later, Tyler to his greatest surprised sees his dad coming into the school to pick him up,he runs to embrace him.
JEFFREY: Why the bandages?, Was the fall that Serious?
TYLER: Not too serious, but it was bleeding pretty bad
JEFFREY: Well then let's get you home to rest buddy
Tyler waves goodbye to his friends before heading home with his dad.
About an hour later, Caroline, after making lunch goes to pock up Theresa and Maya, leaving baby Charlie crawling happily around the house in the company of his dad and brother.
TYLER: I thought you'd be heading back to work now
JEFFREY: wow,yiu really don't want me here huh?
TYLER: heh Ofcourse not
JEFFREY: Well the call from your coach was enough to get me the day off
TYLER: wow,your boss must be very considerate
JEFFREY: ehhh....I may have exaggerated a bit but sure, let's go with that
TYLER: ....ohhh (laughs)
JEFFREY: How did practice go today?
TYLER: Good ...except for the falling part tho
JEFFREY: You know maybe one day I could come watch you practice
TYLER: No...umm..that won't be necessary
JEFFREY: Why not?
TYLER: Uh well...
JEFFREY: Is it cause of the fact you're terrible at soccer?
TYLER: (Surprised) How..How did you know?
JEFFREY: Your coach told me about a week ago.
TYLER: (sighs) I'm sorry Dad, I really thought with enough practice, I could get better and not let you down
JEFFREY: But this isn't about me son, Its about you, I mean, You should have told me you had zero interest in soccer, There's alot more sports out there you're yet to explore...you need to be involved in what you actually like, do what makes YOU happy.
TYLER: Well I do have something I'd like to do (he says excitedly)
JEFFREY: Really?..so , what is it?
TYLER: Well it's not really a sport, more of an art
JEFFREY: An art?, what?, Like...Kung fu?
TYLER: what... no
JEFFREY: (Chuckles) then what?
TYLER: Well...it's... Ballet.
...
There is a brief silence before Jeffrey let's out a loud laugh, on seeing his father laughing so hard, Charlie starts laughing too.
JEFFREY: HA!...even your baby brother found that funny, ha ha, now Seriously....what do you want to do?
TYLER: TYLER: I..I just said what I wanted to do (he replied a bit embarrassed)
JEFFERY: Wait...so you're actually being serious?
TYLER: (nods)
JEFFREY: heh, you're spending too much time with Maya
TYLER: No I actually really like it, especially..
JEFFREY: Tyler, you shouldn't go around being interested in girly stuffs, you're a man.
TYLER: No but boys dance Ballet too, it's..
JEFFREY: Yes (His father said cutting him off again) first thing tomorrow I'll put in acrobatics classm
Caroline and the girl get back from Practice interrupting their conversation and Maya runs to give her dad a hug.
TYLER:(Mutters to himself) So much for doing what makes me happy.
