Chapter 2: Chapter 2 "The Story Begins"

After our battle with the tamer named Jiro, our crew of now five people suddenly got a letter delivered to us by a royal pigeon messenger. The contents were as follows: "My brave adventurers, return to me at once. I have a pleasant surprise for you, band of ruffians." And so, we went. After all, we still served the Emperor at the time; our loyalty was to him, except Jiro. His loyalty was to me for some reason, hence why he's one of our many godfathers.

We arrived at the set location of which the Emperor had told us to meet him at, and to our surprise, it was a private WicRonaldoDonaldo's. We entered, and he called upon us, telling us to order what we wanted. And if you know your old man, you know he ordered as many fries as he could humanly consume. Anyway, the Emperor had prepared for us a prize. He presented each of us access to the castle's weapon room so that we'd be armed with nothing but the best. To say your Uncle Austria had a smile on his face would be an understatement. He practically walked out of there a walking tank. You'd mistake him for a sniper elite instead of a doctor, hence his nickname, "The Doctor Who Calls Upon Death."

Other than the access we have been given, the Emperor also presented us with a large sum of Medals, which was the currency at the time. We could've hired a whole tavern with that cash, of course, we didn't. We wanted only the best on our crew. But possibly the one reward that brought the biggest smile on your old man's face was the latest Dragon Fall Canon Mk 1. The beauty that cursed its targets with a watery grave. Six of those were to be installed on our ship. To put it into perspective, three of those could fire a collective nine cannonballs together. Six would let us fire eighteen all at once! And as if that wasn't enough, the king had one last surprise for us: a Rottweiler named Cheeseburger. It was gifted to me personally for accepting his offer to be the captain of the St. Michael.

After that meeting, we all went to the ship to rest. The second story was optimized for peak comfort. That's when a messenger pigeon flew in and delivered to me what seemed like a royal message. Opening it proved me wrong. The message was a cry for help from an old friend of mine, a great mage recognized for her excellence in fire and water magic. Her island has been occupied by pirates for a while. They've hunkered down in a cave near the port, hoarding their treasures and their large bounties. The sheer number of pirates and tamed monsters was too much, even for "Jelia the Great Sage of the West." And so, I got no sleep that night. This was a pressing cry for help, so we left the very moment I finished reading that message.

Our arrival there presented us with a warm welcome. It seems the villagers, or what remained of them, knew who we were. I assume Jey told them we'd be coming to help. So, I asked a young man where she was, and he instructed me to go to the tower south of the island. I took Austria with me. Jiro, Max, and Zeth stayed by the port to repel and capture any wise guy who tried to take our gear and loot.

As your uncle Austria and I moved on, we ran into a rough-looking man. We kept wary as he could've been a pirate out to fish for food. But we canceled out that assumption when he called out to us, saying, "Come out! I don't bite, unless you're fish, that is," as he let out a laugh. We slowly came out of our cover, and he reassured us that he was not to be feared. He was just a fisherman who knew his way around a harpoon.

We decided a break was at hand. After all, at this point, we'd been walking for a little over three hours, only stopping to take a leak every now and again. The rough-looking fisherman introduced himself as Ricardo Lopez. He offered us some fish, and we gave him some of our bread in return. After all, we weren't here to take from the island without giving anything in return.

Old Lopez said that he'd been fishing as a profession for over ten years until the pirates came and scared off most of the fish by catching them in bulk. He said that if we managed to drive off the group of pirates, he'd join our crew without a second thought. We laughed and shrugged it off as an exaggeration. With that, we bid our farewell to Mr. Lopez. But something told me this wouldn't be the last we'd see of the guy. And so, we went south until we saw the tower of the Dual Element Mage.

And there she was, Jey, your godmother, practicing her third element, which was, at the time, earth. Of course, now she's mastered almost all the elements and their subcategories. But back then, she was just a carefree dumbass with great power and little to no responsibility, which is what made her the strong girl she is today. I shouted at her to alert her of our presence and made myself known so she doesn't blow me into the stratosphere. And when she heard the name Kinny, she knew who I was. And to this day, it shocks me. She land surfed her way to me, basically controlling the earth under her feet to move her forward.

Once the teasing got out of the way, it was straight to business. She was sick and tired of seeing her people being pushed around by the pirates who forcefully took over their land. She had witnessed her friends get executed simply for speaking up against them. And so, she called upon me, not expecting a reply. And so, she asked me once more, this time in person. She asked me to help her free the land that was once her people's. And if we succeeded, she would join our tiny crew. Knowing having her aboard would be a blessing. After all, this is the Mage who can now control three elements and is working on her first sub-element.

So, I agreed. Dr. Austria seemed to agree as well. I'm sure the other three won't mind another addition to the family. And so, the quest was on. Prepare for the battle that was brewing and make sure we win it.
