Chapter 27: Chapter 27 "Just Another Day"

Due to the events that occurred the day before, our awarding ceremony that was to be held in the emperor's royal court had to be moved in fear for the emperor's safety, since some of the Black Tail pricks might have slipped through the systematic raid of their initial landing site. So, as compensation, Taka gave us a lot of cash to spend, and I'm sure you all know by now that your father loves collecting random things. So, I decided to go out alone today. Zeth had plans of her own, so I let her enjoy her day alone as well. We did install a fallback in each other's psyche store so that if we ever run into danger, since it seems to follow us like a fed stray, we could just teleport the other siblings back to the other. Now that we knew we were both safe, we went on with our day.

I went north and entered the hunter's forest. This place was popular with adventurers and hunters, since it was where most of the beasts spawned and where some of the pirates on the mainland tended to hide out. I used a tool Knight Captain Emily gave me while I was still waiting to be healed a few days ago. It was a digital map that hovered in front of me until I minimized it. That way, I could easily spot enemies marked with red indicators, and as for beasts, they'd be marked with a yellow indicator.

I spent a few hours in the forest, and Themis was kind enough to lend me a pocket dimension to store my loot. Overall, I collected almost thirty-nine sets of armor, along with over fifty individual weapons ranging from swords to battle axes. I even got a shooter's club; that was really cool. I thought of celebrating with the crew once they returned from their respective adventures, so I set out to hunt for a specific beast called a Red-Furred Boar. It was a large boar that usually had loot in its belly since they'd eat almost anything. The boars would be almost twice the height of me, but it wasn't a problem for me to deal with. I spent a lot of my training days back when I was still in boot camp hunting these things so that the knights I trained with could eat anything but the horrible cafeteria food. No offense to the lunch ladies; they made everything with love, but the food they made just lacked flavor and overall any seasoning. So, I took it upon myself to hunt these big guys back then. Yes, I did take the boar down if you're wondering. It was easier than before since I knew their weak points.

After spending about two hours in the hunter's forest, I made my way to town. I looked at some new clothes since I had almost nothing else to wear but my armor and the countless undergarments I have for it. I found a nice leather jacket with a red shirt and a bandana. Since your aunt really likes to ride on mechanical bikes made by the dwarves, I decided to take two. I got one for her as well. I have a pic somewhere here; I'll show you kids the picture some other time, so don't worry. You'll still have a chance to see it. I haven't lost it quite yet..

Anyway, after buying clothes, I met up with Jiro. He seemed happy to see me. "Yo, Cap! Check this out. I found something you're gonna love. I'll transfer the ownership of the creature to you. If ya want it, come on!" I smiled curiously. I followed him back to the hunter's forest, where he presented me with a jet black slime. He introduced it to me. "I think you're gonna like this slime a lot, Cap. This is what we call an assistant slime, though their color doesn't really scream assistant. Trust me, they are. I have a few of my own, actually. Their color looks like that since you usually have it clean items for you. Like here, take this gold coin, for example. Just throw it in the slime like this, and one, two, three, bam! A nice gold coin that shines as if it was made yesterday. These things could help ya give your armor and swords a shine if you're working on something in your forge and customization cave. So, what do you say? Is this slime to your liking?"

I looked at the slime; it was like staring into a black hole that led to absolutely nowhere but death. However, I'd be lying if I said it wasn't cute. So, I told Jiro to transfer ownership of the slime to me, and he did as I asked. I named the slime Kururu and let it stay on my head most of the time. I guess it's comfy there. I couldn't bring myself to move the cute slime, so I just let it watch sports with me most of the time.

After bidding Jiro goodbye and thanking him for the new friend I'd made, I made my way back home and started cooking the red-furred boar. Everyone got home a few minutes after I started cooking. The smell of the meat brought out the best in people. After our meal, I smiled and kept cooking. However, after everyone, including myself, was stuffed, I went for an evening walk. I bought some sweets and used some of the cash to buy food for the crew—not just food for the night, but food for like a month. Our ship has a cold room where we can keep meat inside, like fish we catch, to ensure freshness when we eat it.

So, that's about it for today's story. Your old man is starting to get dizzy from staying up too late, so pardon me as I go to bed. I'm sorry that today's story was short my dears.
