"Want?" She repeated, hanging on the words. She looked away before she continued that sentence. "I do wonder what I want… Perhaps I wanted to thank you?"

"Your father has done that well enough already," Vol replied briskly, reaching for his door handle. Lady Feltan held out a hand to stop him.

"Please," she said, tapping his fingers away. "I merely want to talk."

Vol turned to her. "Then talk."

"You know, that isn't how you're meant to speak to a Lady," she said, offering a teasing smile to take the edge off her words. "You're meant to be a little more polite. A little more… accommodating." She wrung her fingers nervously, as she managed to step even closer. Vol could smell her now. The scent of her perforum was almost suffocating.

"Is that right?" Vol said. "Then, apologies." Once more he was ready to open his door, and once more she stopped him, this time with a gentle push on his chest.
