Chapter 383: The True Start - Part 5

"A Death Knight…" Bert said, seeing what it was that had stopped. He gulped. Hobgoblins, Skeletons and even Corpse Soldiers were one thing, but a Death Knight was something else entirely. They were monsters that many would have happily claimed didn't exist, for they were so rarely seen, and even if they were spotted, one rarely lived to tell the tale.

That was not the only such creature, either.

From all around Rast and Bert, their soldiers began to scream.

A crooked and rusty sword ran through a man's chest all of a sudden. An enemy that should not have existed was suddenly behind him, wrapping a hand of rotted flesh around his mouth, and then plunging a sword through his back, casting a shower of blood in the air.

A Corpse Soldier. Even Vol knew that. Pandora's Curse often afflicted the dead of the battlefield, those with especially strong feelings of attachment. That was why care was taken to burn the bodies, or otherwise set them to rest.
