It all began on a chilly morning in August when I opened my eyes and realized my mother was nowhere to be found. Despite my tender age of six, I vividly recall my desperate search for her within our petite room. Our bag, which we had packed the night before, sat on a small wooden chair in the corner, yet my mother was nowhere to be found.
