Chapter 46: “Sacrifice”
At this shout, they all frowned but continued running without looking back. At one point Lego stopped and passed the bag with all the books to Roche, "Take care of this, I'll buy time" said Lego while pulling out a gun.
At this comment from Lego, everyone stopped and looked at him with surprised faces, most of all Olvia and Roche.
"What!? Let's keep running, if you stay you will die" Roche said stopping.
"If we keep running we can make it. As soon as Yamamoto-sensei arrives we won't have to worry anymore" said Olvia worried about Lego.
"That's right leader! You can't die!" exclaimed Ralph with concern in his tone.
"It's a matter of time before they catch up with us. Come on go, I'll buy time so they can get to the ship" said Lego shaking his head and looking for a good position to face all the marines that would arrive in a matter of a few minutes.
Olvia and Roche looked at each other without knowing what to do, "Go away what are you waiting for!" shouted Lego angrily.
At Lego's shout, Olvia and Roche with reluctant expressions began to run again feeling a pain in their chest. As for Ralph, he remained still, not wanting to leave his leader and friend, "I won't leave you! I'll fight with you!" said Ralph while taking a position to cover himself.
"Idiot, go away! You're still young, you have a long life ahead" exclaimed Lego as he pushed Ralph to flee with the others.
Unlike Ralph and the others, Lego was the oldest of them all, even so, he was not of advanced age, he was about 35 years old.
"Tell the others to live a good life and not to accept orders they don't feel are right" he added with a slight smile.
At Lego's insistence and stubbornness, Ralph began to run with tears in his eyes, "I'm sorry snif..." whispered Ralph as he continued running.
*It's better this way, you can still do good deeds. In my case...* thought Lego with a frown.
Lego followed Nelson's evil orders for many years unlike Ralph and the other young marines, this made him feel a great guilt. Despite completing all of Yamamoto's orders, he did not feel that his guilt was gone, as these tasks were also not great things and were just simple errands.
So sacrificing himself to save Olvia, Roche, and Ralph he saw it as a way to atone for his sins, *I hope Yamamoto-san can forgive Ralph and the others* Lego thought as he prepared for combat.
In a few minutes, Lego who was sheltering behind a big stone, could notice a few meters away 20 armed marines, *There are a lot of them... I have to last as long as I can* thought Lego while his will was getting stronger.
He knew he had no chance against these 20 marines, besides he could notice that these marines come from the Grand Line, so most of them must be much stronger than him.
Still, for 1 month he was training with Saul a former marine vice admiral, so his strength increased and he was more confident than before.
When the marines arrived near the stone where Lego was sheltering, they were surprised to be shot at, as they thought the Ohara demons would continue to flee.
"Enemy attack!" exclaimed a marine. This marine was the second in command of the Boo Kong fleet, his name was Duncan.
Lego's shots were fast and accurate managing to damage some marines. At Duncan's order, all the marines took cover quickly, but while they were doing it Lego was able to hit some more shots.
*Shit, they acted faster than I thought they would* thought Lego was surprised by the effectiveness of these marines.
"It's just one!" Duncan shouted for all his subordinates to hear. Knowing this, Lego's fate was sealed.

Olvia, Roche, and Ralph kept running without looking back, at one point they could hear several gunshots which startled them, but they kept running.
*Because of me Lego...* thought Roche while the guilt was eating away at him.
After a few minutes of running they didn't hear any more gunshots, knowing what that meant, "It's not long now, keep running" said Olvia.
BANG!
As they were about to reach the ship, there was the sound of a gunshot and then a scream.
"AARGH" shouted Ralph falling to the ground with the bag.
He felt a great pain in his left shoulder and could see a large amount of blood coming out of it.
"¡Ralph are you okay!?" asked Olvia and Roche in unison as they stopped their pacing and approached Ralph worriedly.
"Phew... I caught up with them" said the voice that belonged to the person who shot Ralph.
This person was Duncan after finishing off Lego, in order not to let Ohara's demons escape, he accelerated his speed and left behind his subordinates who were slower.
"Damn Marine!" exclaimed Roche in an angry tone as he looked at Duncan.
"It's weird that one of Ohara's demons would curse me" said Duncan with a slight smile, he knew that Olvia and Roche had no combat power whatsoever, so they weren't too worried.
*If I manage to catch these two I'll get a promotion easily. Especially that woman* Duncan thought excitedly. Olvia was one of Ohara's demons who had a big bounty on her head, so he wasn't too worried.
"Surrender without resisting!" Duncan shouted as he aimed his gun at Olivia and Roche.
It was best to capture them alive, as they needed to interrogate them most of all to catch the Fire Demon and Professor Clover.
As for Ralph, he didn't know who he was and he didn't care if he died or not, so after wounding him he didn't give it any more importance.
*If they capture us we'll be screwed* thought Roche as he tried to think of a solution to escape, he knew he had no chance against Duncan in a confrontation.
"Run away, I'll take him on" Ralph said as he stood up in pain. Lego had sacrificed himself so that Olvia and Roche could flee, so he was planning to do the same.
"Don't say stupid things, with that wound, you will only die" said Roche.
Ralph didn't listen to Roche and stood up, facing Duncan, "You're a criminal for aiding such demons, so your elimination will be well received" Duncan said as he aimed at Ralph. He had no intention of giving him time to attack.
Ralph frowned, with his speed impaired from the shooting he knew he wouldn't have time to draw his gun.
BANG!
Duncan fired again, this time aiming for Ralph's head, "No!" shouted Olvia as she watched a speeding bullet leave Duncan's gun.
Before the bullet hit Ralph's head, a large figure stopped the bullet and stood in front of Olvia, Roche, and Ralph protecting them from Duncan.
This person was over 4 meters tall and wore a cloak that covered his huge head that protruded a lot, unlike the other parts of his body.
