In the eerie atmosphere of Borgin and Burke's Black Magic Item Store, Mr. Borgin's face was a swirl of panic, regret, helplessness, and fear. He berated himself for his foolishness, driven by insatiable greed, which had led him to confront this enigmatic figure. He couldn't fathom how someone could waltz into his shop with a treasure trove of gold coins and employ methods that rendered him utterly immobile. Regretfully, there was no remedy for his mistakes, but he wished for a magic potion that could turn back time.

"You must be curious about how I managed to control you, right? Well, it's not as complex as you might think. During our little toast, I discreetly attached a squad of nanorobots to your glass. These minuscule marvels embarked on a covert journey up your glass and into your mouth, and we'll call it a 'courtesy exchange.' You tried to poison me, and I responded in kind."

As he noticed the befuddled expression on Mr. Borgin's face, Ivan remembered the great gulf between the wizarding world and scientific concepts.

"Uh! By the way, you might not be familiar with the term 'nanorobots.' Picture them as exceedingly tiny, invisible puppets, so small that even your keen eyes can't spot them. They journey from your throat, sneak into your vertebra, infiltrate your brain, and then step in to take the reins from your brain. It's almost like a takeover of your body in the name of science."

Following this revelation, Mr. Borgin realized he was once again in control of his body, though it didn't offer much solace due to the relentless torment that awaited him.

"I know you're suffering, but every action has consequences. You set your sights on my wealth, and I had to respond in kind. What's coming won't bring excruciating pain, but it's an itch you can't escape. It won't kill you, but it won't let you live in peace either."

With his chilling presence, Ivan observed the anguish in Mr. Borgin's eyes and explained the mechanisms behind the torment in a manner more accessible to the wizarding world.

"Your suffering is just getting started. In the third stage, the pain will intensify a hundredfold. Consider it a warning. If you ever betray me, I'll employ this third stage as your punishment. All you have to do now is endure for three more seconds. Failure to do so may lead to permanent mental trauma and even death. I have other tasks to attend to."

As the third stage of torment took its toll, Mr. Borgin experienced intense itching that penetrated to the very core of his being. He writhed in agony, unable to control his body, and the agony felt endless. With no other choice, he eventually lost consciousness.

Upon regaining awareness, Mr. Borgin found himself lying on the floor, drenched in sweat. The memory of the relentless torment was still fresh in his mind. Ivan's words echoed in his thoughts, and he loathed the memory of the pain.

"Mr. Borgin, welcome back from the depths of despair."

The chilling voice pierced the air, causing Mr. Borgin to jump and scramble to a corner, trembling with fear.

"In the end, you endured it. You passed out after just two seconds in the third stage, and it took you ten minutes to regain consciousness. This coma is a natural response, your body's way of coping with the unbearable pain."

Although Ivan's tone remained sinister, Mr. Borgin's emotions had shifted from anger and hatred to sheer terror.

"Don't be afraid. Your punishment has concluded. Come closer; there's a task I'd like you to undertake. I trust you've learned your lesson and won't force me to resort to such measures again."

Initially weak, Mr. Borgin summoned his strength and approached Ivan, wearing a look of deep respect.

"Master!" His voice, no longer obsequious, was now hoarse and submissive.

"That's right. You've come to understand your position. From this moment onwards, you belong to me. You will serve me loyally, and for your loyalty, I shall offer you rewards."

"Thank you, Master! I will give my all to serve you." Mr. Borgin had shed all traces of resistance. He dreaded the thought of enduring the previous torment again, and the idea sent shivers down his spine.

"Excellent. As my subordinate, I expect you to have some degree of power. I'll grant you a boon. By manipulating the nanorobots in your brain, I'll stimulate the release of specific substances from your pituitary gland to enhance your mental power."

Ivan explained that over the next decade, Mr. Borgin's mental power would undergo significant growth. Provided his magical abilities kept pace, he could aspire to attain the level of power held by wizards such as Voldemort and Dumbledore. This method was a product of Ivan's recent research on the wizarding body. However, it came with side effects, as it would deplete Mr. Borgin's potential, halting any further progression in his magical abilities.

Mr. Borgin welcomed the news with enthusiasm. "Yes, reaching that level is a dream come true. I pledge to exert my strength in service to you, Master."

The psychological trauma that awaited him in the future was a distant concern, as he relished the prospect of increasing his power. He had no desire to continue growing after reaching Dumbledore's level.

Having fully subjugated Mr. Borgin, Ivan no longer required the house itself to remain confined. He nodded to the red devil, who understood the signal and released the space barrier, freeing the elf.

The house itself, with a mixture of fear and hesitation, cautiously approached its master. It had witnessed Mr. Borgin's ordeal and now regarded Ivan as the most fearsome figure in the room.

Contemplating the plight of these elves, Ivan was intrigued. He pondered the theories surrounding their origin.

Among these theories, two stand out as particularly convincing. The first revolves around a pair of feuding brothers. Their bitter conflict led one of them to cast a curse, transforming the other into the wretched creature known as the original elf.

Another theory suggests that wizards harnessed the blood of various magical creatures as the foundation for creating elves through alchemical means. Regardless of the method, the direct enslavement of an entire race remains a dark and brutal chapter in wizarding history.

What baffles Ivan is the curious shift in the balance of power over time. Wizards, once the supreme force, have witnessed a gradual decline in their numbers. Fewer pure-blooded families can boast nearly 100% magical abilities, prompting them to seek out awakened wizards from ordinary backgrounds to bolster their ranks. In contrast, the innate abilities of elves, particularly their shape-shifting and phantasmal travel, have remained potent and elusive, making them a force to be reckoned with.

Dobby, the elf from the original books, even managed to deceive the ever-vigilant Dumbledore and infiltrate a prestigious magical school. Ivan finds it all rather perplexing. These elves, bound by a curse in their blood, appear to have surpassed their masters in certain ways, yet they remain unable to resist or harm their wizardly counterparts. Ivan, intrigued by this enigma, contemplates delving into the subject in the future, eager to unlock its secrets.
