Chapter 15: Four Avatars Part V

Too fast, too furious…The door was shut as he left the room with a pleasant look on his face.

Tan looked at his seven cards which was the limit he could hold. According to the rules, a card is drawn every minute. He raised his eyebrows at the cards, then examined his MP and SP which were in recovery.

MP 18

SP stayed still at 2.

“I guess this can be used against the two that weren’t poisoned.” He looked at one of the seven cards.

“Equip!” A 3-star Bone Crossbow card was activated.

----------------

Bone Crossbow (3 stars)¶¶¶

----------------

Type: Equip

Class: Light crossbow

----------------

A crossbow made of animal bones. Can perform a ranged attack, has low Attack, and nothing special.

----------------

“How about a sneak attack, little lizards.” He sneered and walked towards the door. He opened it and looked for the Crystal Lizard that did not have a poison symbol above its head.

“241!”

“245!”

“243!”

“242!”

“240!”

“245!”

Tan fired the crossbow rapidly until he ran out of bolts in the magazine, then closed the door before the lizards could approach him. “Phew…!” He blew air through his lips. “The poisoned ones are losing 2% of HP every minute. That means they’re going to die in 50 minutes.”

“Wait! What if I run out of cards? Fifty minutes means fifty cards will be drawn, plus seven from the very beginning. Does that mean I have only three minutes left?! Do the players die if they run out of the card in this game?!” Tan was alarmed after realizing the possible downside of his plan. He immediately picked up the manual and read the rules.

“A card will be drawn every minute. When a player’s regular deck—60 cards—has run out, the player cannot draw any more cards, and can use only what remains.”

That was what the manual said. Tan heaved a sigh of relief after reading what he had found. He decided to go with…

‘Kiting…’

‘Sneak attack…’

‘Attack with tactic’

Or whatever you would call it…but it would work, for sure…

Tan did not activate any other cards. He wanted to save up his MP and SP as he had no idea of what was waiting beyond the door. If he found himself in a locked room that would open up only when he completed a mission, he would be killed easily. Though having full stats would not change anything much when faced with monsters with higher levels, at least, it made him feel at ease.

Tan went with his ambushing tactic for a few dozen minutes, one of the Crystal Lizards finally fell to the ground before perishing into tiny spheres of light.

“They have 12,000 HP! For real…?” Tan shouted. He had an encounter with the Shining Bird. The Shining Bird was about the same level as the Crystal Lizards, but the former had only about 2000 HP—five times lower than those lizards.

Shining Bird had high-class movement speed and evasion, in exchange with below standard HP. Crystal Lizard, however, had higher HP and stats than monsters at the same level as it was a monster guarding a boss character’s area…

After one down, the cunning player was to face a terrifying moment…The four remaining Crystal Lizards roared. Their stats and speed movement had increased as they were in a Rage state. That was not the worst thing. Tan found out the most terrifying thing when he opened the door and rapidly shot at the lizards...

“241!”

“244!”

“243!”

He shot out three bolts before his eyes widened.

“Crystal Pin!” The system announced the lizards’ move.

Giant pieces of crystal shot out from the lizards. The pieces of crystal swiftly charged towards him. Tan tried to dodge but got shot by a piece of crystal.

“2,871!”

“Augh!” Tan screamed as he closed the door. His HP downed from around 3,000 to below 200. “Darn it…There’s a Rage state. If the move was a bit more powerful, I might be sent back to Blanche and Nicki at that very moment.” He whined.

“Item! Item! Item!”

Tan used Healing Potion cards he kept with him. Each one restored around 1,000 HP. His HP was full once again.

“Just slightly opening then.” He meant the door. Tan opened the door slightly, aimed his crossbow, and shot every monster inside. He closed the door to reload the bolts. He could keep himself from danger using this tactic. Soon, the other two lizards were knocked down. Finally, the last lizard fell to the ground…as the system made an announcement.

Player Tanthai has defeated 5 Crystal Lizards and has received 50,800 EXP, two 7-star Crystal Lizard cards, a 6-star Equip Card, Crystal Armor, and 71,540 Gil. The player has risen from level 29 to level 35.

“Awesome!” Satisfied, Tan exclaimed as he heard what the system informed him. He quickly checked the cards he got.

----------------

Crystal Lizard (7 stars)¶¶¶¶¶¶¶

----------------

Type: Summon (Effect)

----------------

Race: Reptile Element: Ice

----------------

A Reptile race monster that has a crystallized body. To summon, three cards need to be discarded from your hand.

- When appears on a battlefield, if another Crystal Lizard has been killed, its Attack will multiply by three times for three minutes.

----------------

Tan immediately put the three cards he got to his deck and swapped them with other cards. After that, he looked around the room; there were three doors, one that he used to enter the room, and two on the left and right sides. However, Tan paid no attention to the doors as he fixedly looked at a golden treasure chest right in front with sparkling eyes.

“Bonus!” His voice resounded in Crystal Castle.

The man, who stood about 5.7 feet tall, rushed towards the chest like a lost traveler seeing an oasis in the middle of a desert. He reached out to open it…

Alas…the oasis was just an illusion of the heat from the weather and sand…

Battle Start!

Player Tanthai has encountered a surprise attack from a 7-star, level 53, Treasure Chest Monster!

“What?!” He immediately jumped backward. Sadly, there was not enough time for him to do a double backflip with a half twist. “There’s still a monster like this left?”

“341!”

“342!”

“349!”

“351!”

“360!”

Bite soft but nonstop…seemed to be the motto that this monster lived by. Tan’s HP downed to almost half. He quickly checked the first seven cards he drew…

“No time to choose!” He shouted and activated one of his cards.

“Equip!” His command rang out as a 6-star Crystal Armor suddenly emerged and equipped on his body.

----------------

Crystal Armor (6 stars)¶¶¶¶¶¶

----------------

Type: Equip

----------------

Class: Body Armor

----------------

Hardy armor made of crystal from Eizenger Castle has average Defense, decreases damage taken by Fire and Ice elemental attacks by 30%

----------------

“101!”

“104!”

“105!”

“109!”

“99!”

Damage dealt by the Treasure Chest Monster was reduced by more than half. He would have died if he had not activated this card.

“Summon! Summon!” Tanthai who had 19 MP left activated a 5-star card and a 6-star card, respectively. After his voice ranged out, Wicked Wolf and Shining Bird appeared and immediately rushed towards the chest monster.

The Shining Bird quickly dealt a lot of damage to the enemy, but due to its low HP and the high Accuracy of the chest monster, it was first to be defeated.

“Don’t die…!” Tan looked at the Wicked Wolf that was fighting against the Treasure Chest Monster. He had 6 MP left which was only enough to summon a monster or use a health potion. He did not have anything good enough to use, so he decided to stay calm. If the Wicked Wolf lost, he had to hope for the best with the card he had in hand…
